 The battery would take a charge and would last a long time but not having an indication of remaining battery was a dealbreaker. Called Google support and they indicated this is an issue that is covered under "warranty". Warranty coverage includes taking the phone to a specific place for fixing but the closest one to me is a 250 mile round trip. The alternative was to send them the phone and wait a week to get a new one which is unacceptable to me

 Using Messenger on video proved impossible because my image would have waves going up and down the screen like crazy. Only going into a better lighting condition would help this (not worth the trouble). Battery life is certainly not even close to newer Samsung or iPhone or any phones with the bigger 5,000 mah battery. But so far I haven't owned a Google Pixel that has great better life yet (2XL, 3aXL, and now 4XL)

I really dislike the "Google doing right finally" ending. As a Pixel user from the first gen forward, they have been solid phones from the very start.

The only thing I'm disappointed with is how they got rid of "Active Edge" since I use it often. I'm surprised they got rid of it, I felt like it became a trademark of Pixel phones.

I likely won't be moving to the Pixel 5 from my 4XL but if I was currently using a Pixel 2 or 3 I may have.  Anyway, I'm glad you're enjoying the Pixel 5, it looks like a solid device that will please many people.

I'm glad you are loving the phone. On the other hand, I love everything about my Pixel 4 XL while I don't like missing features in Pixel 5 such as face unlock, Soli (presence detection), flagship SoC, squeeze, no notch/hole, and neural core. Pixel 4 was bold and interesting even though it didn't get some basics right (battery, ultrawide), on the other hand, Pixel 5 just gets basics done but it seems like a very boring phone. And Pixel 5 is no more affordable than Pixel 4.

I've upgraded from an OnePlus 3T.

I don't play games on the phone, I like a clean Android interface and love photography.

Both the battery and the camera from the OnePlus turned into crap after a couple  of years, for the last 6 months the camera wasn't even focusing well and the pictures were misty, making me cringe every time I took a picture.  
Update: Just remembered the annoying issue of OnePlus agressively killing apps in the background to save battery (unless you lock them open) causing me missing ring doorbell notifications, having issues with Strava... That was BAD.  


The Pixel 5 is just perfect.

The pictures are absolutely spot on and the battery life is insane for what I am used to. I even was possitively surprised by the size of the phone,  not liking massive phones I was expecting the Pixel to be bigger than the OP, but it happens to be smaller.

Also got in in Europe, so the pricing here is great (with the plus of the top class Bose headphones for free).

Love it.

I had a look the pixel 5 today. The body does not feel plasticy like some reviews have said. It is almost exactly the same size as my current P3 which is perfect for me. The only downside is the current up front price which I think is too high. I reckon black Friday will see some great deals and I will go for it then.

I went from a Pixel 1 (dying battery) to a Samsung S10e (and I've hated the software) but because of this exact look and feel. The fact that Google is rolling something so S10e like has me chomping at the bit to switch back over for those sweet-sweet Pixel features.

Collected my Pixel 5 from a parcel shop just yesterday. Bought it mainly for the experience of a clean Android, but it starts to grow on me as a whole. I switched from the S10+ and the main thing is I can't get over how much smoother it runs. It's smooth like baby's bottom. lol

I'm not planning on getting the pixel 5 because I have the 4 XL (not a flawless phone by any means, but not much nudging to upgrade), but I really like the direction google took the pixel this year.  My only wishlist items are for a dedicated telephoto camera with ~3x optical zoom (not a dealbreaker), and that they make both a smaller version and a larger version--I'd love for a pixel 5 with the same dimensions as my 4 XL.

It sounds like "smooth everday performance" may not be quite as smooth as the Pixel 4 from some things I've read. Also, the lack of a neural core means photo processing takes longer. That's my biggest concern, other than the price tag.

I love this phone too so far. I just came from the Samsung S8. It's a little funny though, everyone talks about it being a good size but my hands are so tiny I still need a pop socket and even then have to really stretch my thumb to get to the opposite side of the screen. Haha

Totally blind with the Pixel 5 online and I'm lovin it

 Voice-to-text works exceptionally well. I've installed my corporate email too, and have found that I can be productive handling emails with the voice-to-text function.  One of the other reasons I purchased it was because I knew that Android (Google) would keep it updated, and so far this has worked like a charm. Updates happen in the background with the occasional re-start (you have to enter your PIN then)

 Intuitive layout and effortless operation. It's a pleasure to use the facial recognition instead of punching in a pin each time to unlock it. Voice-to-text works exceptionally well. I've installed my corporate email too, and have found that I can be productive handling emails with the voice-to-text function

Fabulous phone that appears to do everything really well
