 And it's pretty heavy as a package actually. The box I think weighs 16 or 17 kilos with everything in so already it feels pretty weighty and pretty sturdy which is always a good sign. We've got another bag here with lots of nuts and bolts, a couple more Allen Keys, and another open-ended spanner. So again, you're not going to need your own tools. a bag with four feet in some Gt Omega stickers should you want to adorn your rig with those and then something

 Um, and this is I think it's about 150 pounds. Um, the Next level racing one is a little bit more. I haven't had one of those to compare, but I am getting their direct Drive wheel standing. But today we're looking at this

 I'm going to get it assembled and show you what comes in the box and then get the trusty logitech set up on there. I got the wrong shifter mount.

 So now let's take a look at what we get in this wheel stand kit. First off, we'll look at the wheel base plate or mount and you can see it has a lot of holes in it for the usual suspects out there that we're gonna use for this type of wheel stand, the thrust master, the logitech line, and of course fanatic and this is actually a pretty good feeling as far as stiffness goes. Piece of metal here and it's got some nice powder coating on it and it's not really going to show up that well. of course it's already got scratches in it for me handling it which me know it never does last long at the SR G as far as looking good once we get it out of the box

So let's take a look at some of the dimensions of this. as far as the metal plate goes and the actual top plate, there is 265 around there - seven - six

 Let's put it that way, when I first started out in simracing like a lot of guys, we were using wheel bases because that's really all we had unless you were building something out of wood as far as your cockpit goes, right? So let's go ahead and look at this other plate and this is the shifter hand brake plate that comes with it and again, this is drilled up for the Logitech fanatic and throw semester and I'm actually going to be using a thrust master I Think on this so we'll see how that fits and we're going to bolt it directly to it. So instead of using the clamp on on the actual shifter now, this is actually a little bit thinner, but the construction more than makes up for that. I Think we've got a welded bead across here. or wherever in front of your your big TV when your xbox of your PlayStation you know this is where these things are really valuable because we can fold them up and we can stick them away with our stuff still mounted to it

 All right. So that's we'll call that three millimeter because typically in the industry that's what you'll get. You'll get it won't be perfectly the same thickness all the way across the plate, but I'm sure they're calling that three mil now. There's a bracket that's actually welded to the back of this which is going to give us an advantage as far as making the plate more rigid

GT Omega Apex Wheel Stand Review

Almost perfect... for the money.

 It also feels much more solid and sturdy. The frames here on the apex appear to be very similar in size and shape to the frames on my GT Omega A-artie Cockpit, so it gets a check mark for the durability and strength. Box mounting your equipment to the wheel Stan is relatively simple. However, I do recommend mounting your wheel to the wheel plate before mounting the plate to the wheel

 This was because the wheel stands were too light and too compact and all of your body weight was in your chair and there was not enough body weight or weight at all in the wheel stand. So over the course of the race, the wheel stands would slide further and further away. So what I needed was a wheel stand that was portable and light, yet still heavy and rigid enough to provide a solid and stationary mount for my racing wheel. So as GTA Omega finally cracked the code with the Apex Wheel Stand, let's find out

 I used center post wheel stands, full frame wheel stands, and I use a variety of different brands and while they all worked okay, I still found them all to be plagued with two common problems. The first problem was because of their portable and lightweight designs. They all lack the rigidity and strength that they really needed. so even the weakest entry-level force-feedback wheels would cause movement in the wheel stands frame

 and that's why I did so to some of my review. If you were looking for a very solid, very sturdy and highly adjustable wheel stand and you're willing to sacrifice a little bit of portability for those Pros: the GT Omega Apex is going to be the right choice for you.  I’m running a Fanatec Clubsport setup on it all around and it doesn’t wobble, move or shake. Most importantly it’s very simple and easy to fold up and store.  Now I did say there’s one exception. The only slight issue I have is the shifter mount

 It could be due to the Fanatec shifter being significantly heavier than the others shown. This doesn’t sound like much of an issue, and really it may not be, but I’d prefer it if the platform stayed still better. What I did to counter this is use two of the small washers included and it seems to hold up a lot better. My suggestion to GT Omega would be this: Possibly consider repositioning the holes for the shifter platform mount so that the leverage force from shifting is evenly distributed and not focused to one side more than the other

Great wheelstand with one exception

 They wheel stand as a whole comes almost completely assembled, and all you really need to do is install the feet wheel plate and shift them out, and all of those parts are easily fitted with a few nuts and screws. This is one of the simplest construction jobs I've undertaken in a while. It's a fair play to Gta maybe on the design. All of the mounting plates come pre-drilled with plenty of options to mount your racing wheel, and it is fully compatible with all brands of racing wheel

 In a nutshell: if you don't have time to watch this whole video, the Gt Omega Apex Wheel Stand is supremely sturdy stand, which allows for relatively easy storing away once you're done racing. It performs well under testing with very little shaking or wobbling, and is able to handle almost any racing wheel. so I would recommend picking this up all day long if you're looking for a versatile wheel stand. GT Omega APEX Wheel Stand Unboxing & Review

For something this well made the price is good, it's heavy and won't slide around without some effort for sure. There is good adjustment for the petals attachment for angle and distance, the wheel attachment has good height adjustment that is very easy to adjust , the wheel mount plate does have a small tilt adjustment but even at the maximum tilt your wheel will still have some tilt to it and not level as you may want it, the mounting plate will be level but the wheel will still have tilt but most setups it will be ok, Now if your thinking of hooking up a racing seat to it then you may want something else as there is no way to do it without making metal brackets and drilling this stand or figure out a clamp on way, the plus is take this takes way less space not to have long rails that seats bolt to . If you have a computer chair to use this is the strongest midrange stand for the money and good for everyone, but if your really into the racing and have extra money and the SPACE to keep it ready to use then buy a complete system with seat, myself I don't have the space so I need to keep the seat and the stand in 2 pieces and the stand will fold to take even less space for longer term storage.

Heavy Duty Rock Solid

Forewarning: this thing is heavy, even without a wheel and pedals on it. This stand sticks to the floor like it was bolted on, and I use it on fake hardwood. The rubberized pucks it sits on keep it locked in place so long as all of them are touching the floor. The steel frame feels durable, steady, and sturdy

Sturdy and easy to assemble

This was quite easy to assemble and set up with the minimal instructions included. There is a great quantity of hardware provided, presumably for different wheels. The instructions identify all the hardware, but then fail to mention which fasteners are being used in each step. It was easy enough to figure out for my Logitech G29
