 It has an odd burnt smell to it that's hard for me to get past. Also perfumes can't be returned to Amazon, so definitely make sure you like this fragrance first before purchasing.

I bought this eau de parfum expecting a slightly stronger and longer lasting version of the original Gucci Guilty edt. It doesn't smell anything like the original Gucci Guilty eau de toilet. Just this weekend I stumbled across fragrantica reviews of the abomination that I wore in the 90s called New West by Aramis. A lot of girls in my class had this. I don't know what we were thinking. I guess we were wowed by a watermelon top note but something about the combination of that and the ozone or aldehydes they used just made us smell like rotton cucumbers. Honestly it was like a whiff of summer trash to me. I got sick of mine after a few weeks and got rid of it. Some of my friends however, were more perstisant and bathed in this for years.
The weird part of the story is, people in the reviews... This is a discontinued fragrance, and someone paid like $600 on ebay for an old bottle... only to find that the juice is off after so many years. How devastating! I am trying to fathom how bad it must smell; since it was already a weird one when it was fresh and new,   and now there is real rot added to the 'artificial' rot... uuuhh, I feel so sorry for this person. Rot². 

Why did I buy (ask for) New West way back then? Peer pressure; I was 14 and this was the shit back then, I really don't have any other excuse. And I did dig that watermelon top note for a little while until it just did a weird turn on me... I wonder what causes this. 

Can anyone relate? A perfume that you thought you really liked and then after a few wears you start to actually hate it so much that you just want it out of your house? What are the notes that do this to you? 

I have another one that I bought many years later, was already grown up then so age is no excuse; it was Flora by Gucci. Maybe I can blame it on jet lag cause I got that one at an airport. I don't even know how to describe what's wrong with this one, it's just really sharp and gaggy. I would put down jasmine as suspect no.1 but apparently there is none in it.

Deceptive advertising... buyers beware

The testing continues and my appreciation for the house of **Serge Lutens** grows. I may need to get more samples from them.

Today I'm sampling **Miel de Bois**  and this is a very different take on any of the other honey scents I had so far and it captures perfectly the spirit of forest honey because it is a less fruity, less sweet take on it.

It opens with dark wood, that makes my mouth go dry for a second. Oak and ebony. Then the honey tiptoes in very softly and layers itself around the wood. It’s very toned down as if it is a few hundred yards away from you and you catch whiffs on the wind, which is perfect, because I like honey, just not as the focus note. 

And suddenly it hits you, from what flowers that wild honey was made, as a field of iris blooms up a few minutes into the scent. Now, I am not one for the florals, just not my cup of tea, but this right here is very very lovely. Miniscule powder, very elegant and slightly crisp with some tart notes in the background. The dry down is mostly iris with honey and oak in the background.

A very lovely blend which I enjoy wearing but I won’t get a full bottle of it. While I find it excellent in terms of mental imagery and also for the different take on honey, it’s still very flower heavy and not my style that I enjoy most.

Well like everyone said, it DOESN'T SMELL THE SAME! I wonder if it's fake. It's NOT bad! Just not the same. That firey smell is not in it at all. Like they missed some ingredients

Testing a sample of Gucci Guilty pour femme.  I sprayed in on my wrist 20 mins ago and it's barely detectable..

Today I went into my local department store to test the 2 fragrances I plan on buying next:

Guerlain Santal royal: my God, this stuff truly is royal. Can’t say too much about the dry down right now, but the opening is a luscious burst of rose, Oud and spices. I’ve tested it on strips before and the sandalwood + rose combo lingers for about 3 days, so this is definitely a strong performer.

Guerlain Heritage: holy f-word, this fragrance is sexy. Seriously, I have no other words for it. It’s so sensual, I can honestly seeing this being a ‘serious’ date fragrance. And by that I mean expensive restaurant/bar or perhaps going to an opera. The best way I can describe this in terms of notes is lavender, Amber and woods with a touch of sweetness. I can’t really fully describe it though, it’s so well blended. I’m in my hiking clothes right now, but this fragrance deserves no less than smart-casual. Also, did I mention that this is potent? On a testing strip it’s still going strong 5 days later, and this is the EDT…

I also sprayed on a spray of Kouros after my morning shower, because I feel naked walking out the house without a fragrance.

I won't ever buy this perfume again. It smells good in a way. But honestly I don't like smelling like baby wash. So that's a no go for me

Just placed my first blind buy order last night! Had a newfound appreciation for fragrances and wanted to stick to samples first but the Gucci Guilty restock on fragrancex last night got me 👀

i know blind buying is a bad idea but don’t follow my example. 

my best blind buy: a whiff of waffle cone // imaginary authors. the pinnacle of what i imagine when i want a sweet, caramel, sugary gourmand. very unique and has a smoky hint to it. 



my worst blind buy: ariana grande’s moonlight. not an awful scent, but very generic in my opinion and zero lasting power.
