 It's obviously better than the Cuisinart that I had ever was, so there's that. But I guess I just expected more based on the reviews.

I've had an old Cuisinart waffle maker for like 16 years that I rarely used. Everything stuck to it, no matter what you did and it was impossible to clean. But now I have a daughter who wants waffles for breakfast, so instead of dealing with that crappy old one, I thought I'd try this model. And it's just better enough that I am willing to make waffles again

 It's not a complete disaster every time, since you can usually salvage it by painstakingly scraping it off with a wooden utensil. But it hardly ever comes out perfect. Oh, and the lights are completely random. The "ready" light only sometimes goes off when you put batter in

Overall, solid 3 stars. It is easy to use, makes good waffles, and I love that the plates are removable. The mechanisms used to release the plates, at least on the one I received, are a bit of a pain. One of the mechanisms stuck horribly

Easy to Use

 If you see the preheat light cycle back on after you pour your batter, you better stay alert or you will have burnt waffles. I'm getting accustomed to it, but still disappointed in it overall. The removable plates is the only reason I stuck with this one.

Mixed feelings...

 Cooked at level 3 for 10min, waffle cooked uneven more noticeable this time due to longer cooking time. It does it’s job and makes waffles. I wasn’t soo impressed to leave a 5 star rating. Also the uneven cooking is a little annoying

After letting the maker cool down, cleaning the mess up, I was able to hold plate in place, push clip on as far as possible and screw back down

Removable plates and reinstalling

 You can flip for perfect cooking, but while flipping you have to keep this pressed inside, otherwise, it gets stuck in around 45-degree angle, you will have to bring it back and try again. I bought this in non-discounted price, thinking I am buying a premium product but this does not work the price.

Good but not worth the price

 I like mine a little puffier. But that's not a deal breaker. I also love that they plates easily come out to clean!

Just okay

We purchased this waffle maker to replace an older, similarly styled (flip) waffle maker that decided it was time to move on to the next life (that would be the recycled life or a landfill, wherever they took it). The old one was really nice, heavy, sturdy, and it had a light to let you know when the waffle was done. It's still available, but only for more than twice the $79.95 we paid for it a decade or more ago

  We did opt for the copper color grills, believing they may have better and longer-lasting non-stick properties, and wanting to get away from the "flaking" black colored grills that more than one review talked about. It was a good choice..

 If slightly under-done, you can just close the unit again and give it another minute. The time will vary based upon the temp setting, the waffle mix and maybe the day of the week..

It makes great waffles

  I use Pam for baking as my non-stick spray. I think any non-stick spray would probably work, but I had a can of the spray for baking lying around and it worked fine.

 You're supposed to watch and see when steam stops coming out. I find it helps to set a timer for two minutes to start watching the steam.  Any standard waffle mix will do. I've used two with similar results

  Otherwise, it gets the job done. The instructions are fine, and the fact that the correct amount of batter is exactly a cup is a plus - it's easy to find something to measure that much.  On the two lowest settings, the waffles were not crisp. They were floppy and seemed a bit doughy after following instructions

This appliance has one major redeeming factor: the removable plates for cleaning. You'd be surprised how hard it is to find a waffle maker in this price range with removable plates.
