Pretty stiff actually, that's the one thing we noticed, Camille and I who was testing the women's version, pretty stiff ski, which is good, I like stiff. But what they did is it's stiff, but they don't have a ton of camber in it, so it doesn't perform like an ultra hard like stiff ski

 And they just came up with an incredibly great performing ski that's also light and playful around the mountain, been really impressed with it. All right, so it's 99 underfoot, that's the thickness under your ski boot and 99 is a magic number. I probably ski a 99 underfoot 99% of the time, is that enough 99s, never enough, all right. It just breaks the hundred mark, it's narrow enough that this bad boy cars really good on the groomers, you know, it's not like a slalom ski, but it holds, you can just lay on this thing on hard pack and it will hold

 Hey, Johnny Mosley here for Peter Glenn Ski and Sports, ripping around the mountain testing skis. This is the Head 99 Core, K-O-R-E, a hugely popular ski for Head, really changed the game as far as big mountain skis go for performance relative to their weight, okay. So a lot of skis to get performance, they had to be heavy and Head skis of course known for their racing skis and a lot of their skis were high performing skis, stuck to the snow like nobody's business, but they were kind of heavy. And so true to Head, they just totally changed the game with the Karuba Core, that's the wood they used in this ski and then they used graphene to kind of mimic metal to give it that dampness, right

I’m 6’2 between 220 and 230 and ski mostly groomers and very very rarely treck out side of the lines into some Powder. I’m looking for a great ski in and ski out ski and I’ve narrowed down to the

Fisher Ranger 102 or 96, in a size of 176 to 183, I’ve rented and used 176s and feel the most comfortable but I’m looking for something that will just be a fun easy not a crazy aggressive ski. Just trying to have fun, hit mostly blue runs and later in the season maybe a black.

Any recommendations?

Help an Idiot out

Welp my trusty Volkl Kendos got chewed up real bad by the sad sad sad snow conditions at Big Sky. It wasn't just a bit of grass but gravel fields right under the thin cover, the snow this season is lacking. They'll make it to the end of the year but after as only rock skis.

I've also improved a lot and changed what I ski since I bought the Kendos a few years back. My main kicks now are chutes, off piste, moguls and other narly terrain. Frankly I don't care how the skis will do on groomers or at speed on a regular trail as at that point I'm just cruising to the lift.

I'm 6'4" athletic, mostly ski the bigger West Coast resorts ( which should have powder once in a while but not this season).

I've demo'd in 2020 Mantras, I think I rode enforcers but don't remember the details off those 2 beyond them being solid and also skied a pair of DPS in SLC that I thought were sweet.

Questions:
1 - How wide of a ski is good for what I'm looking for? I don't want huge powder skis but have heard from friends that the 90 that Kendos run are too narrow for a great WC ski.

2 How long of a ski, my old ones where 177, at 6' 4" should I go a bit longer? What's the advantage if I'm not really optimizing for stability at speed?

3 What's a great ski to eye? I know there isn't one right answer but curious people's own experience.

Thank you and hopefully my new pair will run as many years as my trusty Kendos.

Advanced looking for best skis optimizing for WC off piste, bumps, trees, chutes etc.

 We have been testing this ski for a while now. Pretty cool stuff. It is like kind of following the trends of the Core skis, but they did make some changes to it. Kind of just refining it, making it a little bit lighter

 So that's the Core 99 from Head. I really like the changes that they made. You know, I think this was a really good ski. I think there were a lot of benefits and a lot of value to this ski as well

I feel very comfortable on blues and easier black diamonds, but would like to continue to push myself to get better. I tend to ski on the more aggressive side, and I ski in the PNW.

So far, I'm thinking K2 Mindbender 99Ti + Shift 13 MNC bindings + boots that feel good after a fitting.

One concern is that the Mindbenders + Shifts might be a bit on the heavy side for uphill, but I'm guessing could probably suck it up...
  
What are your thoughts or recommendations? I'm certainly open to suggestions for skis/bindings/boots.

One-ski quiver setup for 80% resort / 20% touring?

 We get two sheets of carbon and two sheets of fiberglass. That upper laminate of carbon is curved. Anytime you're putting carbon in a three-dimensional format, it's increasing the stiffness of the ski, making this Core 99 one of the stiffer flexing skis really on the market today. Very consistent from tip to tail, too

 They just need to realize that it's very precise, and if you get it up on edge, it's going to want to go. So there's that to consider for sure. But anyone who's heavier or more powerful, they'll be able to bend this ski a little bit easier. So there is that wide range of skier type that will enjoy this ski

 I probably put two or three good days on this ski this year in this 177 length, which is short for me, but still had a great time. I would opt for the 184, but this thing was a blast. Super easy to get on edge, really precise and agile, and then really versatile and well rounded in all-mountain formats. But really enjoy getting this thing up on edge on a groomed trail

 While the tail is relatively straight, not a whole lot of taper, definitely that early taper leading to the widest point about here. And then not a ton of splay and rocker back here, but enough to make it more playful, more well-rounded, and just a little bit more user-friendly. If these were flatter tails, less tapered with the stiffness that they possess, it would be a pretty rough ride. So it's nice that they kind of bend the ski to adhere to the stiffness of it and really make it more approachable with a better performance overall
