HiFiMan HE-400i review: High-end audiophile headphones for a semi-affordable price

ConclusionIf you've always wanted to own a pair of high-end "audiophile" headphones but can't quite justify dropping a grand on a pair, the HiFiMan HE-400i is a good compromise. It's a superb-sounding headphone full-size headphone that features excellent build quality and an improved design that makes it more comfortable to wear than its predecessor.

The hifiman he400i original model with dekoni elite hybrid pads are pretty, pretty good. Wearing them now listening to Neil Young "down by the river" and they definitely don't suck.

I just got to try the Hifiman HE400i 2020 version and I think it's tied with the Cloud Orbit for two the most comfortable headphones I've ever tried.

Zero stars construction and customer service

I purchased these headphones in December of 2015 for $300. 1more over ears, he400i, kph30i, and I just ordered the porta pro's. The planars were the biggest eye opener for me, totally changed my idea of what a headphone could sound like. I'm hoping to get the t60rp in '21

Pros: Its not a neutral headphone which is a plus in my book, it has bass, but its not for bass heads. Its treble is just right and its not sibilant. It has a cool sound comparable with the sennheiser hd650, but IMHO a little better. It can be driven by my iphone 6s plus without an amp, but with an ...

The he400i are a real good buy, having used both stock and large angled pads, I think the thing that really brings it together is having those chonkster pads for me.

**Past headphones:** HE400i, not enough base. ATH-M50x, sound was pretty good imo. **Music:** Hiphop/artists like frank ocean's blonde kinda.
