The Hisense 75U9DG is the best 75 inch HDR TV we've tested. It delivers stunning picture quality in dark rooms, and it looks almost as good as OLED TVs. It uses a unique dual panel technology that stacks two LCD panels on top of each other. It helps it achieve the best contrast ratio we've tested on any LED TV, and there's minimal blooming around bright objects, which is important for watching HDR movies in dark rooms.

It displays a wide color gamut and has great out-of-the-box accuracy, so colors appear as they should. Its HDR peak brightness is okay overall, and it gets bright with small highlights, so they pop the way the creator intended, but large areas of bright colors are increasingly dim. It's only available in a 75 inch size, and it's well-built with a stylish design that looks good in any setup, and its metal feet support the large screen well.

Unfortunately, there are some banding issues in scenes with shades of similar color, like a sunset. Also, fast-moving content looks blurry due to its slow response time, but this is more of an issue in games or movies with a ton of action. It has a motion interpolation feature, and it removes 24p judder from any source, which helps with the appearance of motion in movies. Overall, it's the best TV for watching HDR content in this size range.

The best LED TV for movies we've tested is the Hisense U9DG. It's a unique TV that uses dual cell panel technology, and because of this, it produces the best contrast we've tested on any LED TV, as it displays extremely deep blacks with almost no blooming around bright objects. It looks nearly as good as OLEDs, and you don't get the risk of permanent burn-in.

It's fantastic for watching movies in dark rooms because of its deep blacks, and the full-array local dimming feature is also incredible. It makes bright objects pop a lot, and it doesn't crush any blacks either, so scenes with stars or other small bright objects appear as they should. Its overall HDR peak brightness is just okay, but that's because it loses brightness with larger areas of bright colors, and it's still good enough to provide an excellent HDR experience. It also supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision content, so you can easily stream your favorite HDR content.

Sadly, it's only available in a 75 inch size, so don't get it if you're limited on space. Also, it's not versatile for other uses as it has a slow response time and low input lag, so it's not good for competitive gaming. The gradient handling is also only decent, and you'll notice banding in scenes with shades of similar colors, which is disappointing. If this doesn't bother you, it's one of the best TVs for movies that we've tested.

The best HDR LED TV we've tested is the Hisense U9DG. It's an amazing TV for watching content in HDR as it supports both Dolby Vision and HDR10+, and it has exceptional picture quality that's better than most LED TVs. It makes highlights pop while delivering dark room performance that rivals OLED TVs. However, it's only available in a 75 inch size, which is disappointing if you don't have the space for such a large TV.

Hisense is a growing Chinese company in the TV industry. They've only been selling TVs in North America for a handful of years, and they're known as a budget-friendly company. They release separate lineups in different regions, and the North American models we've tested aren't available internationally. Even though some models have similar names in other regions, they're completely different. Hisense has a relatively small TV lineup, but they all offer great value for their price, and they're better than the competition in terms of value. The Hisense U9DG is their 2021 flagship 4k model, and it's a very unique TV. It combines two LCD panels to achieve a much higher contrast and better local dimming than most LED LCD TVs are capable of, resulting in deep, uniform blacks that look almost as good as an OLED TV.

This unique design has a few issues, though, as it has a slow response time and relatively high input lag, resulting in blurry motion, so it's not ideal for watching sports or playing games. The mid-range 4k Hisense models, including the Hisense U8G and Hisense U7G, have a great selection of gaming features, including HDMI 2.1 bandwidth and variable refresh rate technology support. However, they also suffer from strange motion issues, like red ghosting. In terms of picture quality, most Hisense TVs perform well, with high contrast ratios that look great in dark rooms and high peak brightness, so HDR content looks great and bright highlights stand out. Most of their 4k models use quantum dot technology, so HDR content looks vivid and life-like. Although some of their TVs have Roku TV, like the Hisense U800GR 8k, most use the Android TV platform instead.
