 But given that both ammo and instructor or class availability has been wildly unpredictable over the past year, what if there was a way to train through this process on a platform that gave you real-time feedback as you became acclimated to it? Enter Holosun's 507CX2 Pistol Red Dot, a low-profile, lightweight, RMR-patterned handgun optic featuring Primary Arms' signature Vulcan Chevron reticle that's designed to do just that. We're pretty big fans of both Holosun and Primary Arms individually, so it's pretty cool to see them collaborate on an optic together, and given that the optic kinda feels like it's almost tailor-made for where my skills are as a shooter, or designed to address the problems that I generally have run into whenever I try to switch over to handguns that have red dots on them, I had to give it a go. While Holosun produces the 507C in a standard red dot configuration as well, the addition of the Primary Arms Vulcan reticle means that now you've got both a 10 MOA Chevron that, because of its size, is likely going to be easier and faster for newer and intermediate shooters to pick up, as well as a 250 MOA ring around the outside edges of your sight picture. And the cool thing here is that if you're punched out correctly, you actually shouldn't see that circle around the edge of the optic at all

 You're really only going to encounter that around the peripheral edge of your field of view in the event that you've got the gun canted in any one of many incorrect ways. Therefore, if you draw and present the gun and, say, don't immediately see the reticle, but do see the circle present in the upper edge of the optic, you'll know immediately that you've got that muzzle canted downwards, allowing you to make a quick adjustment and get that Chevron on target. And again, as somebody whose previous red dot experience, as far as handguns go, will usually involve a little bit of fishing around in the optic trying to find that very small point of light, particularly with smaller red dots like one or two MOA. The downside of this however is that if you are carefully trying to stack rounds in the t-box of a target from a bit further out, you may notice that the increased size of the reticle compared to your standard red dot is going to mean that you might wind up obscuring the target with all or part of the chevron, which is obviously going to make precision shooting just a little bit trickier

 While I've fired a good amount of optic-equipped pistols over the years, not once did I pick one up and have that aha moment where everything clicks and you feel like you've got a solid improvement over ironsights in your hand, as I always felt myself fumbling around, trying to find the red dot in my field of view on the draw stroke, or struggling to reacquire the dot between shots, and so on, which just kinda makes the entire process feel a bit clunky. And obviously, that's not at all meant to imply that these are issues with the red dot-handgun combo on a conceptual level, as very clearly this is a me problem that would gradually smooth out over time with adequate training and trigger time.  Now, the battery life on this guy is 50,000 hours, and it does take a CR1632 battery that you actually don't have to remove to replace, as you can see the battery compartments right there. Another advantage over the Trijicon. I also wanted to mention quick with that battery life of 50,000 hours, you also have a solar option here as well in case the battery goes dead. You can use that solar panel to help illuminate your optic, and also it has a shake away fail safe technology similar to the Leopold

 Now the Holosun 507 here, it is a really good optic with a similar pattern as the Trijicon RMR, which is one of the reasons that attracted me to it because most of the guns that I run either have the plate on them from the RMR or milled for the RMR. So it's a nice little way to get sort of a more budget optic than an RMR or SRO while using the exact same mounting system. And like I said, that was very appealing to me from the start. Then I saw a few reviews on the 507 and they're legit apparently, drop tests and all that fun stuff and it seems to be very durable in other people's testing

 This is very important, at least for me, or especially if you're going to do lock tight screws on some of your settings there. You don't want to have to take off the reticle to change the battery. Another thing that's neat here is you can see that it has this outer ring. This helps with fast target acquisitions

 What happens is the brightness of the reticle is automatically adjusted to match ambient lighting. The battery will compensate for power if the solar cell cannot drive the reticle alone or if lighting is low enough the sight will automatically switch to battery power. This is very important, at least for me, or especially if you're going to do lock tight screws on some of your settings there. You don't want to have to take off the reticle to change the battery

 Okay This particular optic claims a hundred thousand hours on setting six illumination 50,000 on a setting 10. Okay Okay, what I really like about this is the battery compartment is sitting right here on the side Why that's important is just like the trigi con rmr the moment you remove these mounting screws to change a battery out You will have to do a re-zero now Combative mindset. This is one of the reasons why china has really become dominant in our country is because You know, they're working for a couple dollars a day where we want fifty dollars a day to produce something like this So it's not really cost-effective to make things like that here in the u.s

 Okay So I hope you guys like the breakdown overall. This is a really good optic If you guys are in the market to purchase an optic and you don't have a lot of visual issues like I do I would say run the trijicon rmr. Like I said, I am very fond of the rmr the durability All right. The profile is a little bit smaller than this and I just like trijicon as a whole Okay, if if uh, I didn't have my visual issues to where I couldn't see through that blue tinting Well, I would definitely be running the rmr

 I will mention that on the three highest brightness settings I get a ghost image of the emitter on the objective lens from all three of my Holoson reflex sights. I emailed Holoson about it and was told that they all were like that. Other than that they work fine.
