 He installed the Honeywell Home App, and attempted to connect to my Thermostat using my logon account credentials. Well this time we got a little further on the app, the Thermostat gave us a code to apply to the app and after that, The phone app and hung, and the thermostat appears to be connected to the house WiFi. However neither he nor I can get the phone's App to see the Thermostat as Installed! UUUUUGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Now the Thermostat is showing a Register Alert, which I had to skip\bypass to adjust the heat settings. When I tried to register the device on Honeywell's webpage, it lists devices that ended in 2016 & 2018, If I just purchased this on Amazon this year, why does mine end with 2015?????? So again, as a plain cool digital-looking, but Manual Thermostat, this thing works fine

I have had this Thermostat for a few months now, Wall installation was easy and I watched a few videos to identify and connect the C wire (Although it wasn't a MUST have for this device). I can adjust the time, temperature, and switch between heating & cooling as long as I do it manually at the device. I have tried to get this device attached to my WiFi network via the phone App, and it just won't play nice. I thought it might be the security settings on my Android phone, because everything goes according to the instructions until I connect my phone to the thermostat's WiFi network

 But trying to connect to it via WiFi takes a Rocket Science Engineer, I am only an IT Engineer. Is it possible all of this could be related to the fact that I didn't purchase a NEW, but a refurbished/RENEWED Thermostat on Amazon? Simply Frustrated, too expensive to trash it & start over!

I have Heat & A/C, but Still No WiFi!

Slick, sleek, not the easiest setup if you have an older system.

 I have to say, customer service, was very friendly and patient. Thermostat finally programmed and connected to cell app. The fan blower on heating unit working as it should-whew!

 Finally, wifi setup, the Thermostat had a hard time recognizing the phone app, it took several attempts, before I remembered reading another user had the same issue and suggested to put ur cell phone on “airplane mode” before programming the thermostat. Leave your cell in airplane mode for the entire thermostat setup-this worked. I have to say, customer service, was very friendly and patient. Thermostat finally programmed and connected to cell app

Not an easy install!

For the first two or three years that I had this, everything went well. The thermostat followed the program and I was comfortable. But then the app lost its mind. the app is resident on my iPhone where I programmed in all of the temperatures for each day

After four calls to tech-support, I have reset the router, reset the thermostat, deleted and reinstalled the app, and done a hard reset for the phone. The app still can’t follow the program in the app

 You also cannot set a range of temperatures allowed where the HVAC mode will switch from heating to cooling as needed to keep your house comfortable. These both seem fairly simple given that the thermostat has an app and can interface with the internet. Aside from that the thermostat works well and was easy to install.

The thermostat does what it describes it can do, but for a digital thermostat I expected more. You cannot alter the HVAC schedule dependent on weather conditions which is a sorely needed feature in many areas of Texas that have large temperature swings. You also cannot set a range of temperatures allowed where the HVAC mode will switch from heating to cooling as needed to keep your house comfortable. These both seem fairly simple given that the thermostat has an app and can interface with the internet

 The thermostat I received "supposedly" works with the protocols they listed, it does not. I had to create a "OPEN" guest network, then white list only the MAC address of the thermostat I received.  I woke up this morning to find the thermostat offline, and, had to go through setup again. Yesterday, after two hours on their support phone call, I asked for a refund, they stated: "we connected it to the open network, nothing wrong with it

Word of Caution

  That stated, in the months since, I’ve experienced infrequent connection losses (once every several weeks), usually lasting about an hour or so, and generally at times that have not been impactful.  Bottom line: I plan to keep it and hope for the best. But if I were starting over, I would simply avoid Honeywell altogether.  Good luck in your search!

Four stars because it does lose its server connection periodically.  I’m pretty technical (ok, I’m a bit of a geek). I like the Honeywell brand and really like the features of this thermostat. I’ve especially liked how it works with Alexa (and even my Lutron Caseta app)
