HP X27i 2K 144 Hz IPS 27 Inch Gaming Monitor DEMO (FAULTY)

 The black level is good, although again mostly with respect to the price range. The viewing angle is probably the best feature as the panel remains consistent within the normal head movement in front of the computer. (My older "pro" model shows significantly more sensitivity to viewing angle.)  The glare of the panel is minimal and my favorite feature

So I am currently on a GTX 970 at 1080p 60hz. (Ryzen 1600 as well).

 

Looking to upgrade to 1440p 144hz early next year.

 

I'm intending to go for an RTX 3070 as the RX 6800/XT seems to be worse value.  But is it actually going to be enough?

I'm very likely to try rtx on btw.

Tomb Raider series 
Cyber Punk when it comes out.
I really don't want to have to save/spend more on a RTX 3080 if I don't need to.  Considering I am already going to need monitor and PSU.

EDIT Thank you all for the discussion so far! I now have a lot more information about both the 3070 and the 3080. I&#39;m actually not yet sure which one it&#39;ll be! I think if I can snag a great deal on a 3080, or a FE at msrp then I will do that. But more likely I&#39;ll end up going 3070 still because of pricing.

For those that mentioned my CPU, yes I&#39;m likely to upgrade to at least a 5600x sometime next year. However it&#39;ll basically be a totally new build at that point as I&#39;ll need a new mobo and RAM. As I&#39;m running slow 2667MHZ ram at the moment.

Hopefully this thread will be useful to people over the next few months as well. :)

RTX 3070 actually enough for 1440p 144hz

  First, the good: the resolution and the screen brightness are fantastic, especially for the price. ( It's not a super-high-end monitor, but the price should be a tip-off.) The display showed no lag or blurring, although of course that depends in part on the quality of your internet service. The adjustable height and angle help viewing, whether you stand or sit and within reason

Sharp Display, Smooth Motion, Some Minor Screen Bleed

 And this doesn't do it now. And then just in the movement, like these beams right here in the train car, you can see the shadows right here. Before those would smear really bad. Now they're not doing it

Excellent value but not a lot of other reviews

 I'll go ahead and click it. You can see right here, and I don't know whether you can notice the difference or not, but I can tell by the way the rendering is, by the way the light reflects off of the car, and the little things here and there, there is that little extra crispiness to the monitor on the right-hand side, which is a 1440p monitor. Once again, when you do go ahead and start using a 1440p monitor, I don't think you'll go ahead and go back to using a regular monitor. It is just so nice to have a higher resolution

 It's an X27i gaming monitor by HP. I actually ordered it off of Amazon, but you'll be able to see when I ordered this, I actually ordered it refurbished. It was probably an open box, but I really wanted to see how it would compare to a 1080p monitor. What I'm going to do in this video is I'm going to unbox it, but then I'm also going to compare it to a 1080p monitor because one of my main concerns was how video would look on a 1080p monitor

 I have an older monitor that is also by HP, which is a 1080p monitor. Then the newer monitor that I just got is 1440p, 144Hz. What I'm going to do is I'm going to set the resolution to 1440p on the monitor. Then I'm going to compare it

 Once again, when you do go ahead and start using a 1440p monitor, I don't think you'll go ahead and go back to using a regular monitor. It is just so nice to have a higher resolution. For me, who is not even a person who is well versed in looking at graphics or realizing what true quality looks like, I can tell that there is a really nice difference. But now, once again, my main concern was watching a video that is 1080p on my monitor, on my 1440p, and I had heard that I would have some degradation in quality when I went ahead and did that
