 Yeah like the the amount of force that you need to push down to get it to go down is like incredibly light. Um the thing is fast. It's like it was flawless during custody and it really really really impressed me. Ibis has pulled off something that Hollywood has been failing at for years

 I Had to like scrub my speed a little bit more than I did on other bikes, but that was only in like kind of a chunky stuff. I Guess it's interesting because this is you know, things have very much been modernized here. We got a 66 and a half head tube angle 76 degrees C tube angle a very generous reach measurement. We rode the Excel which was what five hundred you know reach

Ibis Ripley Review - 2019 Bible of Bike Tests

Ibis Ripley, GX build with carbon wheels. Great climber, amazingly poppy and fun, and a capable descender outside of very rough chunk.

I'm shopping for a bike to replace my Titus X that was stolen (mostly my own fault for not securing well). I loved the swift climbing of the Titus X which was set up for mainly XC use. I've ridden my brother's Pivot 429 which descends well, but was difficult to keep a line during climbs... though it was also sized incorrectly as he rides an L and I take an XL typically.

I'm now considering a Salsa Horsethief which my LBS has an XL in stock and a Trek Top Fuel, which I haven't test ridden yet as there is no stock within 500 miles of me. 

I love to ride flowing fast trails with banked turns and occasional hills and descents. I'm not really into park style, jumps, or pure downhill, but I do appreciate versatility in my bike. The Horsethief that I test rode seemed very versatile which enough travel to take hits. I tried out the Salsa Spearfish while I was there. That felt a lot more like my old Titus X as far as stiffness and responsiveness. 

Any other options that I should really be considering?

Looking for a new dual suspension in the $6000-$7000 range

Consider the Ibis Ripley -- 130/120 travel that rips on XC trails but absolutely handles its own on the downhill. On top of that, it climbs like a rocket.

I’m currently riding a 2015 Devinci Django carbon 27.5”, lowest model with NX components. My local New England trails are majority xc style single track but covered in rock gardens and roots where there is as much technical uphill as there is down hill. I’m not big into bike parks so the only times I find myself getting airborne are launching off natural trail features.

I asked around my local shop for suggestions based on local conditions and they recommended bumping up to a bike with bigger suspension and 29” tires, preferably a mullet configuration. They recommended either a Bronson or Stumpjumper EVO. I don’t want to make a mistake purchase, does anyone have experience with 150/160mm travel bikes in more of a cross country setting or have other suggestions? I prefer a livelier bike that I can throw around and have fun on as opposed to a long, low, stable speed machine (I spent a good amount of time on a Orbea Occam and was not a fan, the bike feels like it rides itself). I was thinking about going with the Stumpjumper EVO, sizing down to an S2, and keeping it set to the steepest and highest settings. I’m worried about how much climbing ability I’m actually going to lose. I’m seeing YouTube reviewers talk about climbing ability but they all appear to ride at trail centers with dedicated fire road style climbs as opposed to the single track climbs that I see

Looking for bike upgrade suggestions

I'll throw my hat in for not overbiking just because trendy bike salesman say the same thing to every body as well as a nice little vote for the Ibis Ripley if climbing and efficient traversal is a concern of yours. If you wanna stick with 27.5 wheels another decent option is the Giant Trance, can even get them used for cheap, with the Fox & SLX configuration. Also, if you ever wanted a carbon frame and wheel bike, one of the cheapest ones you can find is the Trance Advanced, both new and used

I enjoy riding flowy, somewhat technical trails and doing baby jumps! Hoping to hit Skypark or Snow Summit this summer as well. 

The debate I’m currently having is between a carbon frame (spectral/jeffsy) with SRAM components vs aluminum frame with Shimano components, which I’ve heard really great things about(meta tr). I’m slightly worried about the weight of the Meta TR as well.

Which FS trail bike? Budget range $2800-4k

Looking for any input since I last bought a FS bike 8 years ago and ride a 27.5 SC Bronson.

Will be doing some long climbs and fun downhill.  Need it to be all mountain as I plan to use it in many different settings.  Budget is $6k +/- some wiggle room.  

I love the idea of the changeable angle of the specialized, but have an unfounded bias against that company.  Certainly would look to upgrade some components and repairs would be simpler.  

The YT looks like fun, but have seen delays with parts reported.

I’m intrigued by the Yeti infinity link, but wonder if it is noticeably different.  Any insight is appreciated!!

<p>Edit: totally agree that they are very different bikes.  For clarification I almost never ride park.  I ride a few times a week but will do a week long trip to somewhere fun each year like Moab or Bend.  Looking for versatility and efficiency but fun.  To be honest, I get pretty lost in all the numbers and have enjoyed every bike I have ridden (borrowed, rented, demoed) for different reasons.  Thanks for all the input so far.  Definitely open to other bikes too like the Ibis.</p>

Specialized stump jumper EVO Comp vs YT Izzo Core 4 vs Yeti SB 130

I am looking to get my first full suspension trail bike as an upgrade from my 2017 Rockhopper Comp that I have had for the last 4 summers. I'm a big guy at 6'5" so I'll be looking at the XL/XXL/S5 or S6 size on any of these and my budget is about $3000 give or take a couple hundred. For terrain I ride mostly in southern Michigan trail loops, varied terrain from sandy, rocky, rooted depending on where I go, nothing too extreme. But I'm looking to start traveling more for biking and hitting more places on the east coast, PA, NJ, NY etc. places with more mountainous terrain so that's why I'm looking at stuff in the 130 mm travel range opposed to a more XC oriented bike which is probably more ideal for my local terrain.  Currently leaning towards the StumpJumper Compl Alloy mostly because I like the shop that I bought my current specialized from. But the other bikes seem relatively comparable in geo/spec and all have shops relatively local to me.  Any advice is appreciated.

<p>Edit: Pulled the trigger on a Specialized Stumpjumper Comp Alloy.  Got lucky and they had an S5 in stock, felt good on reach and size. I think the slightly shorter bike suits my riding style and trails a bit more compared to if I went for the S6 which wasn&#39;t available anyway. Hoping I like the bike once it warms up and I can hit the trails. Feels way different than my old Rockhopper in the quick test ride around the lot but a 5.5 degree slacker head angle will do that. </p>

Sold my Roscoe 7, looking to upgrade to a full suspension bike. I really like the fast downhill stuff when you can hit the corners hard. It’s all fun though so I guess I need something that can do it all.

What should I look for in a new full suspension bike?

Ibis Ripley AF is $3k, for a full suspension bike that pedals beautifully. Aluminum but that’s not a bad thing.

I'm about to sell my Giant Revolt Advanced 2 gravel bike and go back to a bike a little more capable on trails.  I'm 5"10 and 175 pounds.  I'm basically looking for the best "bang for the buck".  I'd like a carbon frame, but it doesn't have to be.  My riding will consist of singletrack, greenway and gravel roads.  I do keep coming across the Santa Cruz Chameleon and the Marin San Quentin 3.  Thanks!
