Start Aida64 to stress just the CPU not the memory, not the drive, not the GPU Power zooms up to just about 200 watts and as we can see here: HW Infos reporting a powder around 196 watts on 97 was so I Would say the power draw is probably a couple of watts higher than that, but called it in around money

 Forget about overclocking is my opinion, which is interesting because when I did the second gen rise ins from AMD rise in 720 700 X rise in Five 2600 X I came to the same conclusion. But as but the Tim was proven holding it back when I disabled hyper threading on the I9 to make it a fake I7 9700 K It brought the performance really close to the core I7 8700 K which is 6 cores 12 threads

The Intel Core i9-9900KS adds a booster rocket to one of the fastest gaming processors out there, but at a cost that most gamers don&#039;t need to pay to get the most out of their machines.

 The reason chips get binned? Despite all the astounding advances made in silicon manufacturing over the past half-century, CPU production still doesn't yield 100 percent consistent results. Some chips may overperform on their spec, others may underperform, and those that underperform get sent to a lower category of performance, or "down-binned," sometimes repurposed as next-step-down chips.

Although many modern complex apps are designed to run on multiple cores, single-core performance is nevertheless still important. Many older games, especially those built on DirectX 9, use just one or two cores. Then again, you shouldn't be buying any of these high-end chips mainly for single-core tasks!

With all this in mind, the Core i9-9900KS has its place. If you've already got a Z390-chipset, LGA 1151 motherboard and have been waiting to upgrade to the i9-9900K, the Core i9-9900KS is absolutely worth the extra $30 or so over the i9-9900K, assuming that is how the price difference actually shakes out. Outside of that, AMD still sits strong as our recommended pick for the best mainstream desktop power processors money can buy in the second half of 2019.

9 gigahertz on the 9900k. I pretty much was running a 4.7 gigahertz overclock on the 8700k, so we're gonna see some improvement just purely based on cpu speed. Uh, but it's a lot easier to hit that overclock with the 9900k, keeping temperatures very very similar to that of the 8700k at the 4

 I see a lot bigger jumps in performance coming from both of those companies in the near future. So holding out and just upgrading to the 9900k was what I thought was the best decision right now. And whatever performance increases we might have seen with going with one of those newer chips definitely doesn't outweigh the cost currently and what we're going to end up spending down the line when we upgrade eventually. Anyways, and the 9900k is definitely no slouch

 [Music] First start up with the 9900k. There we go. We're going to enter the setup F1 and we'll do a quick overclock set xmp, all up, set our boot drive everything like that. So after getting the 9900k installed and booting the system up, the overclock was pretty simple

 It's going to pair super awesomely when we do get a 30, 70, or a 3080 just waiting for stock to finally come in on both of those cars to see exactly which one I want to go with. Um, but I think you're going to be super impressed with the performance increases. Uh, from the 8700k to the 9900k. I did a pretty wide variety of benchmarks uh, both actual benchmarks of Cinebench and Time Spy, as well as some other applications like Premiere Pro in terms of actually rendering a video and then blender as well

Is an i9-9900K Still Worth it in 2021?

 I'm just using basic H115i PRO AIO cooling and have yet to see any workload force throttling to the official 3.6 GHz speeds. -Times have really changed since my hard core overclocking days 20 years ago. With throttles disabled, the CPU does exactly what I would want to achieve

) -Except for initial setup and testing, I don't manually overclock the 9900k since that would only give me about 3% more performance than I get running optimized with no power restrictions enabled (e.g. out of Intel TDP spec, but the common default for these early Z390 boards). Just disable the throttles and enable auto for the voltage and stuff

 -I9 consumes only a fraction of the power and less heat at low utilization compared to that old x99 chip. -Peaks at about 176 watts after 12 minutes of running P95 torture test. Temps briefly peak in low 80's for that dated and unrealistic test. (Motherboard maker monitoring software shows mid 70's, Intel software shows low 80's

It's organic overclocking virtually out of the box. Slow shipping, faster than CPU it replaced

 Normal gaming runs in mid 50Cs to mid 60Cs.  I used hwinfo, cinebench 15, occt, and prime95 while dialing in my settings.  In most games he sees it hitting 5.1ghz very often, only when a game uses a lot more cores does it drop

 The I9 clocked at 5ghz on all coores will overwhelm it though, which likely means you would need a 360mm AIO or more likely a custom loop to cool this beast. In truth, the factory setting of the Asus motherboard were such that the standard overclock provided by Intel (5ghz on 2 cores, 4.7ghz on all) was creating temperatures in the mid 90Cs, well above where I'd prefer.  I hate water coolers, and think they are overhyped in general

Fast and hotter than heck

 I would definitely research this one hard if I were you with your PC specs. I have had an amazing time with IL-2 and iRacing with the GIANT fov. I am still tweaking the DCS settings to try to get it running perfectly smooth. It definitely performs better than the Reverb G2 as far as frame rates

 The fov felt like looking through binoculars to me. Coming to the G2 from the Index, I couldn't get used to it. The only good thing about this headset is how much Asobo had worked with it and the OpenXR software (you need to use this before playing MSFS) to get it running somewhat smooth in the sim. I do not recommend the G2 at all unless you are going to solely use it for MSFS and that's it

 I had 2 major problems with this headset. 1. The STUPID WMR software! It is horridous! It was so annoying to deal with and seemed like it ran on top of SteamVR via the (bridge), if you ask me this eats 25% of your FPS as it was super hard to get stable frame rate in DCS. I HATE WMR Software

Looking for a headset to primarily play flight sims like DCS and MSFS. Seems to me the Index has the best controllers and tracking, albeit a low resolution which isn’t ideal for sims. The Oculus looks cool, but the FB login and ad tracking is dog****. The Reverb’s resolution sounds awesome for sims with light use in other games, but I’ve heard the controllers are meh and the tracking is terrible. 

Any specific thoughts? Trying to get some opinions outside the specs on paper. I’m currently running a 3090 and cost isn’t a factor, although I don’t think I could justify getting a Reverb and Index controllers (if they’re even compatible) unless it’s a *huge* improvement.

Resolution Too Low for Sims?

forget about overclocking though it runs very hot already Intel has push it as far as they could compete with the market right now with AMD, it runs very fast but it also down clocks it itself a lot because of the temperature and the power limit, I have Noctua NH-D15S with two installed fans and temperature rises up to high 70sC and spikes to mid 80sC while gaming that's just unacceptable high temperature comparing to an i7 5820k overclock to 4.2 was mid 50s c with a smaller CPU Cooler. the clocks doesn't stay steady unless you fiddle with the BIOS and it takes a lot more than 95 watts and I have spiked up to 180 Watts just on the CPU. This CPU obviously needed a die shrink but intel was in a rush to release this processor to compete in the market
