With its removable palm rest, the J-Tech Digital V628 Vertical brings something new to the table. As with most gadgets, this mouse has a few drawbacks. The buttons are on the large side and a little overly sensitive. Occasionally, we inadvertently pressed the right mouse button when moving the cursor across the screen. Additionally, it is difficult to avoid depressing the right mouse button with our ring finger when using the scroll wheel. We opted for more of a fingertip grip style with our pisiform support by the palm rest. If you're having a tough time deciding between a vertical mouse and a joystick mouse, we think the J-Tech Digital V628 Vertical should be right up your alley.

 With no software that worked, they had even less functionality than this mouse.  It's constantly trying to keep from falling off. The mouse is too vertical so gravity forces the entire weight of the hand unto the table and puts constant pressure on the narrow bottom of the hand and the bone close to the wrist. There is no slope on the side of the mouse to keep the pinky finger nor the bottom of the hand off of the table. The palm rest is made of hard plastic which doesn't cushion the base of the palm and in my experience is too far to the left so it doesn't help at all

 If I rest my palm on the back of the mouse I can hold the mouse like a joystick but the finger tips are all the way in front too far ahead of the buttons and I can't use the scroller in this position because then it's near the bottom of my fingers. Most of the time my hand cannot rest. It's constantly trying to keep from falling off. The mouse is too vertical so gravity forces the entire weight of the hand unto the table and puts constant pressure on the narrow bottom of the hand and the bone close to the wrist

 Keep in mind that reviews on these types of devices are all based on subjective personal experiences.  If you have long thin hands this might be of interest to you. There's different ways to hold this mouse but none that I find comfortable. If I hold the mouse so tips of my fingers rest on buttons, the entire back of my hand is too far back

 Shipping was quick and seller answered questions in a day or two.  What might help in design of an ergonomic mouse is a smaller angle like 45-50 degrees from table upward. Keeping the same tilt height that the J-Tech has now (11cm tilted), that would allow the hand to more comfortably rest on the mouse. Although I found 1 or 2 wide mice, many don't seem to be long enough

Edit: After 5 months of daily use, the scroll wheel is wearing out - it sort of tilts out of alignment and I have to click it back into place every 30 seconds or so. In this case, the cost was perfect for testing out a vertical mouse, but now I will invest in one with higher build quality - you get what you pay for here. Good mouse with a weird quirk - short lifespan

 You can't really slide it around exactly like a normal mouse. You have to grip it in a claw grip at times to move it back towards yourself otherwise it starts to slip away a bit and you lose the buttons.  Comfort is noticeably better than a regular mouse. Helps with wrist pain for me that occurs after a hour or so of using a standard mouse now

  The laser resolution and tracking are fine. Good enough for me at least. Improving the buttons for the thumb, the mouse wheel, and general tactile feedback would really make this a 4 or perhaps 5 star mouse.

OK for slow paced games or relaxed browsing

 I cannot over-emphasize how poorly this is designed. This flaw could have been avoided by simply moving the scroll wheel further forward between the left and right click buttons.  Obviously the J-Tech ergo mouse is designed for at least medium if not strictly for larger hands--which fine. However, placing the scroll wheel where they did was just dumb

 I like the size, and how it fits my hand. I like the angle of tilt is has. I also like the positioning of the back and forward buttons. The left and right click buttons are OK as well

It is the real deal breaker on the J-Tech ergo mouse. This scroll wheel is positioned too far back between the left and right click buttons causing the user to have to lift their right index way up and back and then move it downward to the right simply to use the scroll wheel

Would Not Purchase Again

 It's located right in the middle of the two primary buttons, in my opinion it should still be placed there but moved more forwards towards the front of the mouse so that my middle fingertip is already on top of the wheel in the rest position and I can easily scroll without having to curl my finger all the way back. I guess if my middle finger was short enough I wouldn't mind.  At least now I know I prefer these type of mice, but on my next purchase I'm going to be paying more attention to where the scroll wheel is placed (and if it has a unlocking mechanism) since now my wrist strain moved to my fingers. I also had some technical issues with my KVM switch, the buttons don't map correctly and the sensitivity it's turned all the way up to some ungodly setting

After using this mouse for several months (bought it back in October 2018), I can finally give my opinions of it. Good mouse, bad scroll wheel experience.

 At least the mouse is not very expensive and I've bought a replacement just as the wheel situation becomes unbearable with the current mouse. But having to replace the mouse every few months is not a good situation.

 But the mouse wheel is a major weakness and scrolling it is uncomfortable. The wheel itself scrolls with some resistance, so that presents a workout for the finger involved. Unlike logitech mice, there is no option for the wheel to spin freely with momentum, so scrolling a long document is quite tedious. But the worst is that the wheel gradually becomes more unresponsive over a few months so that slow turns are completely ignored and requires turns that are fast and with some distance

Its unusually heavy, something which can be remedied easily by removing the bottom plate and removing the added weights they put into the mouse and the angle is a little funny, but it is still a pretty good ergo mouse.  After my original device failed, I bought the Anker Vertical Ergonomic mouse, which I think is a better buy ($10 cheaper at the time of writing this review, and more comfortable for me). I am still going to use the J-Tech mouse as a backup mouse however

 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 6/27 Update: J-Tech contacted me after I posted my negative review and was insistent on sending me an new device, free of charge. I've been using the new mouse now for a few days and it looks like this one has a working optical sensor, yay! This mouse did require me to use a mousepad (this was unneeded by other mouse models I've tried) for the optical sensor to track properly. Ergonomically, this mouse is much better than a standard mouse for my wrist. Its unusually heavy, something which can be remedied easily by removing the bottom plate and removing the added weights they put into the mouse and the angle is a little funny, but it is still a pretty good ergo mouse

UPDATED - Good ergonomic mouse, but with a few oddities and my original mouse failed in 1 day of use

 The only reason I'm giving a 4-star rating, is because the lack of native Mac support, which again is easy to fix with "Mouse Fix" application.  UPDATE 09/22/2021: I've been using as my daily for work and leisure, not for gaming at all, it's been great so far, but today the scroll wheel started to slip. The pointer still works, and buttons as well, it's just the wheel that from time to time doesn't go "trac-trac", instead it just spin and traction at all, so the screen does not goes up or down. It was sudden, it started today like a I said, but it''s happening around 70% of the times, and for a Project Manager/Account Manager who uses 3 screens and 6 desktops with multiple websites and documents opened, it is unacceptable

The size is great, I have medium size hands, It looks great. It has a button on the bottom to turn off the nice blue light.  In order to give a context here, I have a Mac for daily and work, and a windows machine for fun leisure. As a project manager, I do a lot of multitasking at work, so have 2 monitors and 4 spaces (desktops) total plus full screen applications which ends up in a new space

  The things this mouse does really well: 1. Actually feels pretty good/comfortable in your hand 2. Love the thumb button placement, the ability to just rock your thumb up or down is really good for reaction based game keybinds. 3
