 Okay so what I did today was I opened one pack up and I took the each blister there's two per pack here so there's ten here and ten here meaning making twenty so what I do is I just pull these off I'll put two of these new ones in and since these here I don't believe they're four years old yet but I'm not gonna take any chances so I'm gonna discard these these two and I'm gonna insert two that I wrote the date on myself so I put nine 2018 on each strip so I know if I put these in other kits when I go through that kit if something's expired I know they're they need to be changed out so that's one of the things I'm doing today I don't want to take any chances with carrying something that might be two or three years old like this is and if you guys know more out there on these Katadyn tablets maybe they they can go long past their expiration date but I'm not going to take any chances on this kit so I'm going to pull two of these out and put two more in I may even put four in this kit and each one does a liter of water and it's going to give you effective against bacteria viruses giardia cryptosporidium okay it's basically chlorine dioxide you've seen it on a lot of the survival guys on YouTube and TV they use these and so I make them part of my kit and I'm also going to update the kit that's on the back of my Becker bk2 knife I keep a kit an Altoid kit on the back of that knife and I know I have some tablets in there and so I'm going to update or upgrade those as well and this stays in my go bag this knife it's got the Tek-Lok sheath on it and you've seen this knife in some of my some of my other earlier videos I'll probably do another review on this but I keep the this knife with some Ranger bands on it with the survival kit and this comes with me in my go bag this is my go-to knife or my number one go-to knife right here the Becker bk2 so that's what I'm doing today in this video I'm changing out some of my kits I know I have one in my wife's car in her go bag with some of these and I'll change those out as well and gives me four more years on these tablets I don't have to worry about okay thanks for watching guys let me know what you think questions comments always appreciate it take care and stay ready

 Hey guys Anthony here with a review or a quick update on these Katadyn Micro Pure MP1 water purification tablets. A lot of you guys have seen videos on these people carry them in kits. I went ahead and over the New Year's time bought two packs of 20 so I have 40 of these in-house right now and what I'm doing today is I have a couple of these survival kits. This one here you've seen before it stays in my glove box in my car and I usually have two Micro Pure tablets in there in that kit

 Unlike drops, though, It typically takes ~6h for them to dissolve completely before they are effective, which for me isn't a problem, but would likely be troublesome if you were in a spot. Recall that I use these for preservation, not purification; the water I am working with is typically tap water or something out of the spigot outside, so I can't comment on their ability to treat water from a completely natural source like a stream. Katadyn MicroPur MP1 Review

I've used the Katadyn Micropur tablets on two recent backpacking trips in conjunction with the Katadyn Pocket Water Filter. As a physician I am well aware of the "inconveniences" of drinking contaminated water so I am am doubly compulsive, both filtering and treating all the water we drink on our trips. The Micropur tablets are great. I know that this treatment will take of any microorganisms, particularly viruses, that might get through the filter

Pure and Simple

 Obviously it meets and exceeds all EPA standards for water purification. I think it's just the easiest way to go. They're easy to carry, they last a really long time, and these packages don't come open so you don't have to worry about the pill itself deteriorating at all. And super easy to pack, I mean, you know, each one of these little folds here represents two liters of water, so four of these is over a gallon, and this is like two and a half gallons of water right here that you can easily process

 So just this right here in your pocket weighs absolutely nothing, I mean this has got to be only seven grams at the very most, this is seven grams at the most. And that's pretty light for having two and a half gallons worth of water on you at all times for whatever situation might come up, you know, two and a half gallons in seven grams is pretty good because two and a half gallons in actual fluid weight is going to be like twenty pounds almost, right? Eight pounds per gallon, is that what we're looking at here? So sixteen for two, and another four is twenty, so twenty pounds for that much, so seven grams worth of pills and you're pretty much, you know, as long as there's water there. I live in Maine so you can find water anywhere and everywhere every single day of the year, we never have a dry time of the year, it's the state of Maine, if you've ever been here we have mosquitoes and lots of rain, that's pretty much what we specialize in. So there we go, that's my thought, my options, I think this is the best number one purifying tablet that you can carry and that is sold on the market

 Alright all my YouTube friends, Uncle Dave at DC's Adventures coming back at you with another video for the best of series. Today we're going to talk a little bit about water purification tablets and the particular tablets that I think are the best and are the only ones that I carry when I'm out in the woods. I do know that there's a couple different options that you can take out there, a couple different chemicals that people are using these days, and there's a reason why I think these ones here are the best tablets on the market. So let's take a quick look at these

 So it doesn't really make sense because I was pretty sure you were able to separate each packet without having it be opened, you know, because the point is to not have any oxygen on these tablets. But aside from that, these are my favorite tablets and as far as scientifically these tablets have been proven to clean the water up more efficiently than any other tablet on the market. Okay, so this is why I really carry these. So for four hours some guys think that's absolutely outrageous, which it is pretty outrageous, but if you're in an emergency situation and you really want clean water and you don't have any filters, you're just using a tablet, I want the tablets going to work the best even if I have to wait four hours

 These are going in our family backpacks for one of several water prep options for back country hiking. I am VERY glad to have discovered that these use chlorine dioxide, which kill crytposporidium, the most common parasite found in untreated water in the world. Unfortunately, I purchased Aquatabs a few months ago only to find out that Aquatabs kill everything EXCEPT cryptosporidium. These are a bit more expensive, but not more expensive than buying Aquatabs that don't do the whole job, and which are in effect useless by comparison

 They have the microorganisms killed here. You have bacteria, viruses, and cysts, and they have the water quality and temperature. So for clear water, 20 degrees C, 68 degrees Fahrenheit takes 15 minutes to kill the microorganism. Viruses, 15 minutes, and cysts, a little bit longer, 30 minutes

 A little bit less than most chlorine pools. Let's see how it tastes. Not actually too bad, there is an aftertaste to it, kind of tastes like a swimming pool if you ever get a mouthful of water at a swimming pool, a chlorine swimming pool. It's not quite as bad as that but it tastes about the same, you kind of get that chlorine taste in it and the aftertaste certainly isn't anything that you want to write home about I guess

 Okay, so it's been four hours since I put in the tablet here, so let's just open it up and see what's going on in here. So it definitely smells like a chlorine pool. A little bit less than most chlorine pools. Let's see how it tastes
