I recently had an idea about 3d printing and how it could be a good hobby. So I talked to my younger brothers and decided that we would buy the ender 3 pro and split the cost. We asked our mom if we could buy it and she disagreed. She said that it is useless and we would not use it after one use. Any ideas on how I can convince my mom to let me but it?

How do I convince my mom to let me buy a 3d printer

This printer has a niche for me it repeatedly prints 10 minutes parts very small. However a few times has frozen on me and it could have potential for parts that last 3-4 hours but because I had it freeze intermittently about 10 times so far in two weeks really makes it unreliable. Even with that I ordered a second one to get more tests done.  Another thing is that Kingroon actually sell all metal heat breaks on their website for their particular printer and you can upgrade this

 in the sense that you have to take that mask off, which is quite clunky. For the price is nice and the direct extruder really helps - however if you're risking wasting 3 -4 hour prints because the 3d printer could freeze at any moment then is not worth it. Not sure if they have made improvement on the freezing aspect. but I just wish it did not have this FREEZING problem at random times - this is a major problem for me

Approx. 2 weeks ago I was looking into buying a Dactyl/Manuform and found this sub. This morning I'm surfing $120K metal 3D printer systems. "That escalated quickly."

I'm currently planning on "settling" for an Ender 3 S1. It (literally) seems to be the least expensive option given it may take 5-10 prints with different generator inputs to get it "just right." Or so I've read (here, somewhere).

Two questions:

1. Does this make sense? Suggestions for a better printer? Initial budget is $500 (excluding filament).
2. Can anyone confirm this hobby is less expensive than owning a boat? At least a large one?

 But just know that you should not buy this thing unless you're looking to put effort into making it work and it'll probably require constant maintenance.

Update received new printer and it works great as expected.  Able to change filaments with ease.
