The Kinsa Smart is an app-enabled smart thermometer that tracks information well beyond your current temperature. The device itself has basic digital features, including a large, easy-to-read display and color-coded backlight alerts that make it clear whether or not the patient has a fever. Once paired with the app via Bluetooth, it unlocks a variety of useful features for the data-obsessed. For example, it allows you to create unique profiles for each family member. Each profile has a home screen that shows a timeline of the readings taken and any symptoms noted at the time of the reading. It also provides basic county-level Covid and flu data specific to your location. You can also track medications, diagnoses, and set reminders.      
As with many basic devices that incorporate smart features, sometimes the technology gets in the way. We could not easily use the thermometer out of the box without first downloading the app. The power button is small and in a somewhat non-intuitive location at the top of the device. We also found for oral readings that the thermometer stick is quite floppy. Though this would be protective in a rectal reading, it makes it difficult to hold in your mouth. These issues aside, we think the Kinsa is the best smart option for those needing to take temperatures and keep records.

We were just using like an old school thermometer before and between a sick squirming toddler, it took forever to get her temperature to take. So the fact that this can read in literally one second flat, I am all about it

Good idea, Terrible Execution, Difficult to use, Terms Of agreement, App Privacy Concerns

I really want to be able to give this a 5 star rating, because this thermometer does exactly what I wanted in quickly reading temp, immediately sending to my phone, and seamlessly syncing to apple health.  However, the problem is kind of a big one, its temp readings are very consistently too high, and consistently inconsistent. I’ve compared this thermometer to several other ones, all of which are within a very close range of each other, but this one is always .5 to 1 degree higher than the rest

5 lower.  If this thermometer was more accurate, it would be perfect. I’d even happily settle for a slower reading if it was more precise.  One other small issue is that it just comes with basically a small ziplock baggy as a case

 I was told by the pediatrician at the hospital that many times a baby will have a fever at home and by the time they get to the ER it will be gone. He says that doesn’t mean they didn’t have one. Temps fluctuate and it all depends where you are catching them in whatever is going on. While we were in the hospital her temp went up and down from normal to fever for 3-4 days

 In the ER her temp read normal before we got transferred to the pediatric unit. Within 30 minutes we got upstairs and they reran her vitals she was back up to fever range. So it changes quickly!! ER temp was 99.4 and by the time we got upstairs it was 101

Highly recommend

I really like the accuracy and speed of the thermometer. We had one of the forehead units which, while fast, always showed a lower temp than it should. We also tried another in-mouth thermometer which, while accurate, took way too long to display a reading. Finally, we tried this one and were happy with both the speed and accuracy

When ill, I need to know my temperature. They don't.
