Hey guys, how's it going? Welcome back to the Channel! So today we're taking a look at the Klipsch R51m powered speakers. Now, before I used the Kev Ls50 Metals with the Kc62 subwoofer for my desktop setup and I said in my previous review of the Burson amplifier that this was one of the best near field setups I've ever experienced and that is still my main setup. Don't get me wrong, but at the fraction of the price which the R51m is at five hundred dollars compared to three thousand dollars of the Keflas 50 Meta combo, this really packs a big punch and I also found that this speaker is a little bit different from other Clips speakers and how it sounds, so we'll get into that.  I did use it a little bit and I wasn't a total fan of the bluetooth sound out of these speakers, so I skipped that for the most part this review. But it also has a sub out, which means that you can connect it to a separate subwoofer if you ever wish for more bass. Now, the bass is interesting because this speaker is rated from 68 Hertz to 21 kilohertz. so in that spec alone, the bass shouldn't be very full sounding or very deep, and the bass isn't really really deep as with my Kc62 subwoofer along with my Kef Ls50 Metas

 [Music] So right off the bat, this is a powered speaker, which means that it has Class D amplification built in 60 watts per channel, and it comes with variety of inputs in the back, including digital inputs like Usb, Optical, you name it. So connecting this to your computer or to your Tv, let's say it's a no-brainer Even your Ps5 or whatever you have it is extremely easy to connect to this in your set. You don't need a separate receiver, You don't need a separate amplifier. You don't need anything else but the speakers itself, which makes it extremely convenient and packs a whole lot of features for 500

 I don't want to use the remote. I want to control the speakers directly from my iPhone. I paired the remote only to turn off the excessive bass with the button on the remote. It took several trys to pair the remote with the speakers

 I have to be within about 30 feet of the speakers to avoid the music cutting out. If I'm about 40 feet or more away, even with an unobstructed line of sight between my speakers and the iPhone, the connection starts cutting out. For this reason downgrading to three stars.

Pros: Connected to my phone immediately. Zero problems with pairing to my phone Sound quality really good. No complaints. Plenty of speaker wire to set them as far apart as you'd like

LOL definitely can relate to the meme. I had a Logitech 2.1 speakers for my PC. Then based on the raved review of Edifier S1000DB (2 speakers) I bought a pair for TV.

People were like the bass is so good you don't need subwoofer. After I got it I was like "where's the thump thump?" like the meme. And I also shot myself in the foot for getting a speaker without sub out. Might need to get a sub with line in and line out and chain it before the speakers.

Luckily right now I have a toddler so I don't want to be too loud anyway, but definitely picking up a sub when he's old enough to appreciate this. Watching movies just doesn't have the same impact.

These days you can get open baffle speakers that go down to 25hz for less than $2K. You've never heard bass until you hear room-shaking dipole bass.

My Realistic Mach One speakers with the video lady mods are basically flat from 40hz to 15khz, with a mild roll off to 20hz and a similar slope to 20khz.

There are tons of designs that can easily go this low. Subwoofers never sound as good as deep proper stereo. And I'm ready for the downvotes.

So true. 🤣My friends are average teenagers who have  a simple Bluetooth speaker and there is barely any bass compared to my sub and it just doesn't sound good. It sound dry AF

My life was changed after getting a sub

 The phono stage just sounds flat. There is no depth. No separation. I know these speakers can sound better because they sound great when paired with a DAC

  I will say that they definitely benefit from a break in period. First out of the box they are really forward and the treble is biting. After some break-in though it mellows out and they sound great. Please remember that these are small speakers

 The treble is forward and lively. The mids are well balanced and could be a little more full. This is not a fault of the speakers. They perform as specified

Ressurected my Onkyo A-7 amplifier, assembled in 1979, by using WD-40 and Q-Tips. Couldn't be more happy that it's fully functional again.

 These sound fuller and have a wider range, though they do not reach the same volume level. If the remote gets replaced I would give these a solid 3 - maybe 4 - despite the crappy control and lesser sound levels than I would have liked for $400. Updated my review to 4 stars to note the easy, quick, and helpful interaction with klipsch support in ordering new remote. Still important to note (which I forgot earlier) they do have a definite hiss that can be quite annoying at lower volumes

 He only asked how long I’ve had the speakers - did not give any hard time about warranty periods or anything - though he might have if I had said they were older (only had them 9 months). Got a response email - they do verify that you’re product is under warranty so that’s a little annoying - I’d prefer they just sent out replacements but understandable. The sound is pretty good, though I had honestly expected more volume. These were better sounding than a similar pair of Audioengine in the same price range (actually these are about $50 cheaper)

 You need to definitely get a software EQ program and install it - the flat output from the PC will sound bad. There is a popular one called Peace / Equalizer APO that works well for me.  Neither of these things would prevent me from using these speakers, they are the best and very compact with the amp in the speaker is great. I will never go back to regular "computer" speakers

 The issue was there no matter what - so some electronics inside the powered speaker must not have enough of a cage to prevent noise from being introduced to it.  The other issue I see on here a bunch is audio quality - I'm using a USB connection from my windows PC. Solved static/clicking noises

I would spend more $$ towards Quality high end speakers if had to do this all over again, also got this Klipsch Sub from Costco, think on sale for like 200$$,It's very loud and rumbles low , So I have Polk towers like 10 years old ,would love Kef ,B& W ,Wharfedale etc, but wife on my case ,too much $$ for electronics ,lol,( Yamaha AV rx 780 2zone)good luck.

I'm trying to cut some cost and the AVR being the most expensive thing in the list is sticking out like a sore thumb. My endgame plan is 5.1.2 but I'm starting with a 3.1 for now.
