 So let me show you what's involved here. First of all, wave types you got three and i got ta actually send this to something. Let'S just do pitch easy to hear. This is how much [ Music ] great

 Kick this into unison. Maybe that's obviously uh fairly abrasive, but hopefully you get the idea and real quick. I want to run through a few presets just so you can get even more of an idea of what the range of this thing is and, of course there are plenty of user preset slots as well. So you can see how powerful the polyphony is on this thing like there are only four voices, so you want to be careful with letting notes bleed into each other because eventually they'll start to cut each other off

 It'S got two voltage controlled oscillators with a bunch of different shapes. They can talk to each other. You can have some sync going on between them mix the signals, a pretty solid filter that i really like the sound of some decent, although not crazy, in-depth modulation options and a bunch of ways to actually play the thing, such as a polyphonic mode, unison, chords, arps, Etc - and it's got a built-in delay, i'm going to get into a bunch of that stuff hands-on in a little bit here, but let's go beyond the spec sheet for a second. This thing just sounds really: nice [, Music, ], [, Laughter, ], [, Music, ]

 Yes, as you hopefully heard from that demo, the mini log sits in a really nice spot between kind of vintage and old school and modern and pristine. It'S got a bit of a reputation for sounding slightly on the bright, harsh and even a little bit metallic side, but it definitely does not have to sound like that. It'S got a pretty good range of sounds. I like it for kind of old school

The Original Korg Minilogue is STILL Great! (Review 2022)

Korg minilogue, I just think it sounds really shrill and thin. Would probably cut through a mix well, but I found it very uninspiring.

What is a synth that you don’t like that other people love?

 It definitely confirms my review, in that a few more effects have made a world of difference. I've been able to pump up the bottom end via EQ and a bit of reverb has given the sounds a lot more body. I also recently bought a Monologue and the two synths work together really well. I will be taking them on tour next month and I expect them to more than hold their own on stage

Minilogue is an interesting beast, a decent enough old-school analogue synth with a good set of modern, digital features that make it much easier to live with than Korg's other analogue offerings. For the price it is very hard to beat.  First up, the hardware is gorgeous. The aluminium front panel has a shallow curve to it and the real timber back panel hides the plastic chassis beneath

 The two oscillators have a great sound with really ballsy bass. The SHAPE knobs allow you to tailor the sound nicely. Modulating the pitch of one oscillator allows you to do some nasty hard sync sounds and RING MOD is good for metallic timbres. The lack of pulse-width modulation via either of the ADSR envelopes is disappointing but having a NOISE oscillator is handy

  First up, the hardware is gorgeous. The aluminium front panel has a shallow curve to it and the real timber back panel hides the plastic chassis beneath. The switches are beautifully tactile and the knobs have a nice rubber feel. The digital display is tiny but bright and crisp

3.5 Stars - A Good Mix of Old and New

 So if you put it into art mode, have you turned the feedback a little? So you barely kind of hear it. You still get the tonality, but then you get this really really nice kind of weirdness to it, but also just keeping it static also sounds gorgeous, and one of my other favorite things about this is actually the LFO envelope is a little bit weird. I think you know one thing that could make this even better would be. If you could, you know latch the time on to the you know the BPM, with a project that you're working on

 If you how quickly you lose that body, and then you also you'll notice that the sustained drags a little bit and if I take the residence and turn it down right now. Here I get a much rounder and fuller tone immediately now, if you're not using the triangle wave, which I have to say it might be my favorite waveform on the mini log, it sounds absolutely gorgeous, especially. We need to put like ambient music and such things if you're gon na use one of the other sound waves, though you really have to roll off the cutoff quite a bit, although this is where you start getting to access. My favorite element of the synth, which is, in fact the filter

 It doesn't get harsh or aggressive at all. It'S extremely smooth, that's actually a really really lovely sound. There is a newer model of the synthesizer out called the Korg mini, lock XD, but I can honestly tell you that I own the original and I always get great use out of it. The main difference you should be aware of is that the output of the mini log, the original one, is mono and the XD is stereo, but you know, all you have to do is throw it into a plug-in in Ableton or logic that turns it into stereo And then you have this big, beautiful, lush synth, don't hate on mono! It'S really useful thanks for watching this little walkthrough on some of my favorite features about the Korg mini log

 One of my favorite things about the mini log is also one of my least favorite things about the mini log. The amplitude envelope is really really precise, but the second that you roll back any sort of decay and sustain. If you want to make a tight sound. You lose a lot of body, so there's a very fine line and kind of getting the amplitude envelope balanced properly for getting a bass tone so I'll give you kind of an example alright

KORG MINILOGUE Overview + Pros & Cons | Still Worth It?

Pulled the trigger on this Prophet Rev2 desktop. Hooking it up to my Arturia Keylab Mkii 49. Sounds amazing. Only other synth I’ve owned is a Korg Minilogue and I didn’t love it so I sold it, and have just been using Arturia Analog Lab and V Collection 8, but this Rev2 is amazing

New Synth. Totally blown away. Amazing.

 Again, wasn't expecting this to work anyway, and you can always substitute/mimic sustain with sustain/release portions of the envelope generator.  But besides that, this synth has all the quality you'd expect from a KORG product.

 Of course, you can connect an external keyboard/controller through MIDI connectors, like a full 88-key controller, but that's not really the point of this synth. - Sustain: I've noticed sustain pedal doesn't work for any of the patches on this synth. Again, wasn't expecting this to work anyway, and you can always substitute/mimic sustain with sustain/release portions of the envelope generator.  But besides that, this synth has all the quality you'd expect from a KORG product

In the end, it is a “lower-mid range” synth in terms of price and functionality, and I think it’s a perfect gateway to mid to higher end synths.

3. Sound: While I don’t think it’s as rich as a Prophet, it has a gritty sound. The sounds can be punchy, piercing, or raw. It’s up for your taste though

Why the Korg Minilogue?

 Instead by digging deep into the menu)  Overall I understood that 500 will get you a purchase of x level quality, but my recommendation is that you don't sacrifice polyphony for sound. MS20 mini sounds substantially better than this. Honestly my microbrute sounds better than this and it was a whopping 299 USD .

 As much as I would like to say that it's an engineering marvel (as the Korg produced videos you see on YouTube like to say), it is genuinely lacking in some pretty big areas. The first one, is that infamous "click" and "pop" you hear so much about. On the presets, you don't hear it, but anytime you consider your own sound syntheses (like people do with SYNTHesizers) that click is very much present and drove me absolutely mad. The filter has to be adjusted between about 10 total degrees in relation to the knob to null out the click, giving me about 90% of a worthless filter

The music styles I love are Stranger Things, Blade Runner, Tron Legacy, Daft Punk RAM, The Weeknd After Hours/Dawn FM.

I’ve zeroed in on a few options and would love your thoughts as well:

Deepmind: analog, 12 voices, lots of effects. I heard a guy do a crazy awesome blade runner lead on this.

Hydrasynth: seems to be limitless possibilities for sound design but can it do the vintage sound I enjoy so much?

Dreadbox nymphes:
Love the analog sound this gets, but unsure how versatile it will be

Prophet Rev2:
Technically out of my price range but should I consider stretching? Is it worth it?

Honorable mentions:
I hear a lot about the novation peak, korg prologue. Also Behringer poly D.

First hardware synth

 The waveform display is not just fun but actually useful, you can see the effect of tweaks, not just hear it. The bass sounds great.  One star off, because there are minor 'clicks' as others posted, but with some tuning it doesn't bother too much.

Amazingly affordable and versatile 4-voice analogue synthesizer, hope Korg fixes the clicking in a future firmware update.
