 This version can accommodate bicycles weighing up to 40 pounds each, whereas the 2-inch dedicated version can accommodate heavier bikes up to 60 pounds each. We'll put it back in place where it was by inserting it partially into the receiver and now what I'll do is I'll take the included hitch pin and I'll insert that into the hitch pin hole and I'll be using that as a feeler so I don't have to look to try to find the hole in the stinger of the rack. I just use this this pin to find that and then I'll go ahead and pull back on it and also provide it as a safety clip for the end of the hitch pin and I'll snap that into place

 Now here we have the means of tightening that ball bearing into the corner of the receiver and so here we have provided a tool. This is a hollow point hex. There's a hollow point on either end so I'll go ahead and use the long end to take out the majority of the slack and you notice the wobble there and I kind of jiggle it so that that ball bearing can find the corner of the receiver and then I'll switch it to the long end and pull out the rest of the slack to give a good tight fit into the receiver and now you see we have a very sturdy connected rack onto the hitch and at the same time we have a good theft deterrent. So I'm going to bring the rack down into the carrying position and just press that foot pedal there and then it snaps into that position

Received defective

 So some pros of this bike rack number one this thing can fit even little kids bikes it goes all the way down here and it can fit fat bikes with a little conversion kit all the way up here with up to 4.7 inch tires so it's a pretty universal situation. Now some other review sites have talked about how they think that the product is kind of chintzy you know it does move around quite a bit and these beams here I don't know if they're plastic or or what but they seem plastic and so they do bend however I think it's a pro because I had somebody hit my car with the bike rack down at a doctor's office and it bent the rack to the extent that I didn't think that I could fit a bike on it anymore but I was able to pull it back with some help and it bent back into place and it was like the perfect amount of sturdy versus pliable so that I do feel secure using it but also if it does get hit you can actually fix it a little bit and that's kind of nice. The other thing that I like about this is the fact that since it attaches with that pin down there you can pretty easily screw that off and take the whole thing out and it just doesn't weigh a lot so when I go to drive through car wash I can take that whole thing out and put it in like the back trunk for the car wash and take it out and it's really not anywhere near the amount of hassle that you might get with another bike rack so I consider that to be a pro for sure

 It's really about will it last another three years I feel like if I can get five years out of it it'll be money well spent. I do like that it's lightweight that I can move it around really easy and I love that when I got to go to the car wash I can take it out put it in the trunk put it back and it takes only a minute or two. So while this isn't necessarily the most ringing endorsement ever I still do recommend this especially if you can get it on sale or as a floor model it's been over two years it's still going strong still works and I don't have to take my bike apart to put it on the rack and I have to climb up to the roof or anything like that so it is convenient it's lightweight and it's something I can move around easily so I do recommend it just not with the most enthusiasm ever because I think there might be something better out there and I'll search for it next time but anyway that'll do it for me here on Descend at Best please do like and subscribe to see more reviews and killer trail footage and I'll see you next time.

 The rack also came with this cable lock keys to go right here but I mean come on like really look how flimsy this, like I feel like school scissors could cut this. It also came with, oh where's that velcro strap, oh my god, he tried to throw that so far, it went nowhere. Alright, it's that, it also comes with the hitch pin but no lock so that is kind of sad. But Eduardo just discovered that he has a lock that could work on mine so maybe we'll just use that

 Down here, I did choose to go with the optional bike lock kit, that does not come with the $375 version of this rack. There are higher versions which do come with the lock kit, but 20 bucks, I got the lock kit off Amazon. It's the Kuat one, and when they send the lock kit, they send it just with the normal pin. I didn't really want to do that, so I did find out the lock from the lock kit does fit perfectly onto the threaded screw that comes with the kit, so that's definitely the way to do it

 This is my Kuat Transfer 2. Super happy with it. I've had it for four months now. This retails for $375, so it's a pretty tremendous value for a platform-style bike rack, and you can always find them used

This is a size medium 29er, and it's a pretty slack bike, so it's one of the longer setups you're gonna run on here, and there is still plenty of room to adjust this for longer bikes, so you big travel enduro guys, this will fit your bikes just fine.  Guys, Tommy from SoFloJeeping here, and I just came back from a ride, so I figured while I had the bike on the back of the Jeep, I'd do a little review about a little thing I've done in the Jeep that has made my life a heck of a lot easier. So this is the rear of my 2015 Jeep Wrangler. Right now it's got my 2018 YT Jeff CCF Pro Race on the back of it. And, throughout all my previous bikes, I've just been putting this Jeep in the trunk of the Jeep, and when I got this bike, I'm like, I invested X amount of money on this bike

Best budget platform MTB rack | Kuat Transfer 2 Review

 The only thing I would suggest is the addition of washers to the screws holding the arm pucks to the frame. If they are overtightened they will sink into the plastic. One other concern I have is that the entire carrier, less the part inserted to the trailer hitch, can be removed by unscrewing the pivoting screw. I'm looking for some sort of locking mechanism for that screw

 Needless to say going on a bike ride was a big pain! The Kuat is a tremendous improvement as removing and installing it is a breeze. Mounting the bike is almost effortless and I'm looking forward to taking the bike on many rides this year.  The Kuat is a quality product and is easy to assemble and mount on the car. It's construction is top notch as all parts fit together with no problems

Coming from a Thule Roof Rack this is so much simpler! The Thule required that I have a step ladder and climb up with the bike to get it on and remove it from the top of the car. When going to the carwash I had to remove the rack off the top of the car which was also a major operation. Needless to say going on a bike ride was a big pain! The Kuat is a tremendous improvement as removing and installing it is a breeze. Mounting the bike is almost effortless and I'm looking forward to taking the bike on many rides this year
