 You know, the Wingman and the sidekick are just much better options for you, and hopefully in the future, maybe Leatherman will change some of the things that we've discussed, and maybe we'll see a better Rev version that is slimmed down with a better deploying knife and just loses one of the tools, and we could have a really, really nice little EDC multi-tool in kind of that medium range. But for now, Ashley and I for sure hate it and are going to stick with our Wingmans and our sidekicks, and I'm going to try and dump this thing as soon as I can, because I don't see the point in owning one.  So to fill that void, the Rev was designed and introduced. But as we're about to find out here today, not only do I feel that the quality level of the Rev is much lower than what you would expect on either the Sidekick or the Wingman, but just some very basic design flaws, I believe, that could have easily been fixed and tweaked has really limited, it's not only desirability, but it's capability for those of you out there and really isn't worth purchasing, in my opinion, as I'm about to show you today, whereas the Sidekick and the Wingman still have a lot to offer. So we have the Rev here in the middle and we're going to be comparing it a lot to its bigger brothers, the Sidekick and the Wingman. And this is kind of like the little red-headed stepchild in the middle, and we're going to see that and I'm going to demonstrate that as we break down this Rev, which is taking the place of the price point that these two knives have, or excuse me, multi-tools, have filled for quite a while

 And now these are out of the price range and this is trying to fill that void, but sadly it does not, in my opinion, as I'm about to show to you do that well. So first off, let's go ahead and hit the blades. So the blade on the Rev is the exact same blade you're going to be getting on all three of these multi-tools. The Sidekick and the Wingman share the exact same blade shape, the exact same length at 2

 Whereas if they had just done some of the things we've already touched on by just leaving some things alone with the knife and the needle nose, but then I believe if they had just gotten rid of this package cutter right here, left us even, or again, give us a better file system with a little flathead, cane opener, and just remove this package opener because I mean, it's nice to have, but your knife is going to be able to do the exact same task without any sort of difficulty. But then with that, you know, missing whatever thickness that is of that tool, they could have duplicated the thinness of this arm that we've talked about making it thinner and slimmer. Duplicated that with the deploying knife and basically made, again, a thinner, lighter, more EDC-able, a multi-tool you'd much more put in your pocket, even more so than the Wingman or the sidekick. Well, there you have it, folks

Why We Hate It: The Leatherman Rev

This multitool has served me quite well! Defining up ...

 The first thing is I love the fact that it has its own integrated pocket clip. I do like the fact that it has and excuse me bypass cutters on here as well. They make pretty good wire cutters. And the last thing I like about this tool apart from the the package opener which I love the package opener is the fact that they have a full length knife blade as opposed to the combination blade that you get on the wingman

 A lot of times I was finding them in the $35 $40 range, but on Amazon today it was $60 and there's only a couple of different vendors that still have it available. So interestingly enough, it appears that Leatherman has very quietly retired the Leatherman Rev Well, let's get into the specs of this thing and we'll show you what made this the budget friendly model that it was. It no longer is because of the price jump, but when it initially came out it wasn't a bad deal. Let's get into it

Leatherman Rev

I bought this to replace a leatherman wave I lost ...

 It was difficult to open and had sharp edges. The over all feel was noticably cheaper. Reminded me more of a cheap store brand multitool and not a leatherman.

Owned two. First great, second not so much

 It's just as snug a fit as my old pocket knife. Great replacement tool because of the size and weight for someone looking to switch from a regular knife.

 Opening and closing it is very smooth, knife is super sharp, and the screwdriver bit sizes are perfect! Unlike a lot of pocket knives, the tools are easy to pull out from the inside of the leatherman. Lastly, the pliers/wirecutters are strong and have good grips on the end of them.

This tool is great, it's not too bulky in your pocket and it has a wide variety of tools. Built sturdy so it's not going to break on you. Dependable multi-tool!

This is the base old school Leatherman every person should own. I keep it in my living room coffee table just for the random amazon box/ beer bottle opening. It has other uses for sure, but so far I've used it for the simplest of things, which is exactly what I intended to use it for.

Screw/open things and stuff

Great tool for what it is. Just having the screwdrivers and pliers and knife is enough for me the rest is a bonus. Carried for around a year all is good so far. Can be used for small medium duty jobs
