Levi's 501 STF Jeans Before and After - REVIEW

  If you remember or experienced real jeans and real Levi's/501's, you know what Levi's are supposed to be and feel like. There are differences in quality and origin now on each pair of Levi's "jeans" that are - literally and figuratively - all over the map.  Whether the dark stonewash will hold up as well as last pair remains to be seen, but I would get another pair of these without hesitation, though only from a walk-in-and-feel-them myself department store from now on. ..at least what we call Levi's, or used to.  I suggest shopping for jeans in person to gauge the weight and color of the product offered, always be able to return them if they fail, and if you find a good brand making legit, heavy jeans, stock up while you can

 I wouldn't even call that a pair of jeans at all; you could build roads without worry in former-Levi's!  UPDATE: I washed both pairs - the 505's and 501's. The 501's are still very thin and almost paper-weight. I don't expect they will last long, and will probably have to use legit denim to patch/repair them to not just have wasted the cost buying them at all. I assume the cost of making the authentic indigo 501's became too costly, driving up the prices consumers say they'd rather pay but really wouldn't - and here's why

Are they Real Levi's...or not? Jeans haul review!

 So they are the brand. They are the Shot Perfecto leather jackets of jeans. So, I mean, that's pretty cool to me, at least. So these are gonna shrink a lot

 You'll see, I'll put them next to each other, and I guess I'll wear no pants during this video, but you'll see that they're a little bit different colors, but they still have this kind of grayish, greenish look to them. The gap is a lot more green hues to them. The Levi 501s, the first real pair of jeans that there was, the classic ones. Obviously, they're a little bit different, and I noticed that a lot of people on YouTube, or viewers of YouTube that are watching Levi videos, the Levi 501 videos specifically, are like, ah, they don't make them like they used to

Hey folks, I've decided to up my denim game. I've been living in Uniqlo Slim Stretch Selvedge for a while now, but I find them way too skinny of a fit. After one wash in 3-4 months, they just shrink right up. I tried sizing up from 32" to 33", and that didn't work either. Same deal, that pair shrank up, too but with the bonus of a too-large waist. 

So after lots of reading, I turned to Unbranded and Naked and Famous, with the obvious choice being Amazon Prime since local stockists are hit or miss around here. 

I ordered a good amount of stuff to try on: N+F Easy Guy and Weird Guy, and Unbranded 201 and 601s of various sizes and styles, and it's been a shitshow. 

First order was supposed to be N+F Easy Guy LHT size 31. What I got was a package that had a pair of worn, tagless "Madewell" denim. Yikes. Returned that and asked for replacement of the correct pair. Got a wrong pair again! This time it was N+F Easy Guy in 31, but in black. Not my style, and turns out I'm not an athletic fit (5'10" 165lbs with apparently skinny thighs).

Next package: UB201 33" and UB601 33" in 14.5 Indigo. They got this one right, but my sizing was off. What I did notice was that even in the same size the UB601's felt an inch larger at the waist than the 201s. Back to Amazon they go.

Next package: supposed to contain N+F Weird Guy Indigo in 32" and 33" and Easy Guy LHT in 32" (note that this was ordered with the first one, Easy Guy LHT 31" for comparison). What I got was 2 wrong pairs, and a wrong brand. I got Weird Guy Indigo in 33" (the only correct) pair, which was a little too large. Would have liked to compare it to the 32..." but instead got a pair of Unbranded 201s in 14.5 size 32". Turns out the size 32 of the 201s fit great - no belt needed! The problem is that I was billed N+F prices, and since I'm already in a debacle with Amazon, best to return it. Final was the  32" LHTs but in the Weird Guy fit. Loved the fit, and turns out it was a happy accident since Easy Guys didn't work, but 32" was just a little too big. So they all get to go back. 

I've got one more pair on the way to arrive Saturday, which are Weird Guy Stretch Selvedge 31's, but I'm not holding my breath here. Now that I have a little bit more insight into what my sizing and styles are, it's off to Nordstrom for some hopefully better luck.

Outside of the whole Amazon mess, what sorts of other jeans/brands should I consider? What I've learned is:

Unbranded 201s Indigo 14.5oz 32" fit well but are a littttle too skinny. I fear they'd shrink up like Uniqlo.

Naked and Famous Weird Guy LHT 32" needs a belt, but I liked the fit far more than Easy Guys and UB201s. If I size down, the thigh might be a little tight, but I'll give it a shot anyway from Nordstrom.

I definitely need a low rise jean... 10.5" front rise on LHT worked really well. The 11.25" front rise on UB201 was "OK", but anything more than that looks sloppy. I must have a weird waist.
