If you want something even cheaper than the ViewSonic XG2431, the LG 24GL600F is a good cheap alternative that doesn't cost much. It's a step down from the ViewSonic in terms of features because it also has a lower refresh rate, but that doesn't make a difference if you're just gaming up to 120Hz. It's a good monitor for gaming, but it has a slower response time than the ViewSonic, resulting in more noticeable blur behind fast-moving objects, but the motion handling is still great. It still has low input lag, ensuring you can respond quickly to the action on-screen, great for fast-paced games that rely on precise inputs.

Unfortunately, by stepping down to a cheap monitor like this one, you lose a lot in picture quality. It has poor viewing angles, so it's best enjoyed from directly in front, as the image degrades rapidly at an angle, especially if it's not centered at eye level. It also has bad black uniformity, low contrast, and mediocre color accuracy. While it delivers a smooth gaming performance, if you care about picture quality, you're better off getting a more expensive model.

4 GL 600F. This guy is 1080p, 144 Hertz, 1 millisecond response time, gray to gray, and it has FreeSync. This thing is an absolute beaut and it comes in at only $175 bucks and that's regular MSRP. That's not on sale or anything, straight off Amazon, $175 bucks

Good Monitor with Issues

 From a design perspective, it's all very basic, although in this price tier, that's not necessarily a bad thing. The construction is mostly plastic. It's simple, bezels aren't slim, but there's also nothing crazy going on here in terms of game elements. There's a few red highlights on the stand and on the rear to go along with the mostly matte black design, but otherwise just a very straightforward, uncontroversial build

 To me, the big issues are those viewing angles and the gamut. And this once again leaves buyers in a toss-up between TN and an equivalent VA. Since both are available for roughly the same price these days, you have a choice between a flat and fast TN with weak colour performance and a slower curved VA with superior colours and a better contrast ratio. The sort of things you want out of a monitor will dictate which technology is better suited to your needs, although I tend to find VA's at this price to deliver a better overall package

 However, it falls behind in most colour metrics, such as viewing angles, which are typically poor for a TN, and colour gamut, which fails to cover the entire SIGB spectrum. It's also not well calibrated out of the box, but this isn't unusual for a budget gaming-focused display, so it's not a huge deal. To me, the big issues are those viewing angles and the gamut. And this once again leaves buyers in a toss-up between TN and an equivalent VA
