Plus, there's some other cool control tweaks and communication going back and forth between components that is enabled with HDMI 2.1. And that's a major future proofing point

SONY brand is most of it. They still have a few tricks up their sleeve that makes them feel like they can get away with it. But they also have some downsides compared to LG. Also their marketing strategies are very different. LG TVs are often discounted or offered at promotional prices, Sony TVs not so much.

It's basically a Japan vs Korea thing.

Sony has picture processing that is only rivaled by panasonic. They have good upscaling, motion clarity and smoothing.
Still, I think the A90J is overpriced. No 55 inch is worth 3k.

I think if you're not going for 3rd party sound, the Sony  is better.  I like the more center of gravity build on the Sony for mounting.  Also slightly like Google TV overall more than WebOS.  Even with that said, love my LG C9.  No regurtz here.

I vowed years ago when watching my dim LG plasma to never buy another LG TV, and I held to that until Oleds came out. Even today if you walk into Best Buy, the worst large TV's on the wall are usually the LG nanocells.

I've owned 2 LG oleds and just purchased a 77" A80J just to get away from the magic remote and the LG OS. Great TV's but how that remote is still used is beyond me.

I'm pretty sure pre-calibrated color accuracy is another reason for the price spike; they spend much more time making sure their OLEDs are as accurate as possible before shipping them out. So, for example, my old Sony X800D—which isn't an OLED—had better out-of-box color accuracy than my current LG C9.

We go around the side and they had the same 2 models literally side by side playing the same movie scenes.

I did end up with the Sony because the image processor is better. Can definitely see more details, but not by much. Also im in the google verse and it was a plus having a built in chromecast. Personally, I've had terrible experiences with LG monitors for myself and my employees and that led to more bias toward Sony. Hope this helps, either way super pumped for you!

For Vizio it should be obvious. Those products aren’t great quality. For LG the consensus is that Sony is slightly better but overpriced. Id say you can’t go wrong with the LG series

I moved from Sony LCD to an LG CX. I couldn’t justify the huge jump in price for not much more in picture quality. The LG CX was a huge jump in picture quality vs my Sony LCD although some things are worse (smoothing, no Android etc). 

I’m incredibly happy with my LG CX.

Check the reviews on the HDTVTest channel on YouTube. He rates Sony best this year. When I bought in 2019, LG was ahead. There’s little between them. 
Currently, Sony seems ahead on picture processing. LG has better support for HDMI 2.1, especially for gamers who might want to use multiple 120Hz inputs. 
I prefer WebOS to anything Android but none of the vendors are committed to providing an OS that can be upgraded for more than a year or two. The C9 can’t upgraded to WebOS v5, for example. I’m sure Sony is the same. Get an Apple TV to handle your streaming requirements.

For the prize Sony is asking, you can buy the lastest LG OLED and also a great soundbar to go with it.

I honestly don't know about the brand argument. In my experience I generally do not like Sony products especially as they are usually more expensive. Go with LG for OLED.

I used to say I’m never buying Sony TVs because they’re overpriced. Well I own 3 now but I’m truly done buying their TVs because they don’t implement features they promise

Sony still thinks they're Apple and so do some consumers and they'll pay the premium for no good reason.

When dealing with Sony stuff online you have to be very careful with some user suggestions. Sony has some very die hard fans similar to Apple. You won't always get the full truth out of them because they're trying to protect the brand. 

Go with LG. They make the panels in all OLED TVs, even the ones Sony uses. The price premium is not worth it in the slightest.

Are you comparing TVs of the same tier? In my research, the price difference between LG and Sony OLEDs within the same tier were not very different. It wasn't hundreds of dollars when I last looked.
