This will be for the occasional UHD / BluRay and mostly streaming services. No gaming. She doesn't really want to spend more than $2000, but we noticed the more expensive LG model popped more. If an extra $500 means a huge leap in quality, she's down for that.

I realize they jack brightness / saturation up in the showroom, so I'm not super leaning towards LG. I noticed the Sony was the only one with Dolby Vision out of this group, so I'm leaning more towards that one.

Thoughts?

I'm trying to help my GF decide on an 85" TVs for movies and streaming services - no games. What is the best bang for the buck between the Sony X91J, LG Nano90 or QN85A?

 Both bleed a little back light on a black screen. The TV sound is a LOT better than the Samsung. It's like night and day and you don't need a soundbar for this LG, unless you care about true surround. Even I'll watch it with TV sound at times

 Absolutely amazing! I don't use the variable local brightness feature, it seemed OK but I'm a purist. The Samsung had edge lit LED which was fine. Both bleed a little back light on a black screen. The TV sound is a LOT better than the Samsung

 LOL  I didn't buy another Samsung because the last one had glitches you had to unplug it to fix. And their remote is totally useless. Luckily it still ran on the old remotes but I'm not sure the new one would. Why take the chance; it's past time to try the other top shelf brand, LG anyway

I kept the tv and enjoy it but here is my review.  I would have expected a lot better!! I could have gotten better quality. BUT it works for the price. It’s a nice tv, has a lot of smart features “maybe to many lol”

 Two more functionally significant disappointments are the remote and ESPN+, or lack thereof. The remote is poorly designed. It has an arrow that often shows up on the screen, but it's not really perfected. Also, the Alexa button is between the main control circle and the mute button(above)

Really good 4K smart TV for 2021.

 Why is it that I have to use 3 f****** apps just to control all my devices that are all lg. I was under the impression that it would be just as simple as bluetooth the speakers to the tv, connect the tv to the app, control the tv and sound bar volume with the app. Nope. Oh and good luck getting it to connect to your google pixel, there's no support for that either although I am not sure if it's on google's end or lg's end

A Great TV, poor developer support

 I am very happy with the decision. The Dolby Vision kicking in on high resolution streaming content is beautiful and does not make me miss the OLED at all. I used some UHD content on YT (using the TVs apps) to adjust settings on both the tv and my surround receiver. The TVs apps and smart remote really pop this unit into another level of value

We chose the 75” after comparing with the 85 and it is plenty big and gives us a very theatrical feeling. We have re-indulged in a lot of Marvel movies for a visual and audio treat
