 Solid and well built, the TrackMan Marble FX has a large, eye-catching red marble.  So I can't have my hands hurting every time I use a mouse. So I got this guy, and it has solved my problems pretty completely. I gotta say, if you deal with non-medical level RSI or carpal tunnel potentially, although again, if it's serious, go to a doctor, and it's due to mouse usage on your computer, try out a trackball, a finger trackball. There are thumb trackballs, but depending on the parts of your hand that have muscle issues or the length of your fingers, it might be even more uncomfortable

 Hey guys, Soulclosin here, back making another video. Sorry I'm a little late on this one, I just had a lot of stuff to do this last weekend and I kind of forgot to record something, but this is the video I meant to make anyway, so here it is. Recently I switched from using my old blue pulsing Chinese gaming mouse, that notably was a mouse, do this with it, to using this Logitech Trackman marble trackball, which isn't terribly unique of a thing I guess, there's tons of people online who use better trackballs than this and care about them and stuff, but I figured just like when I get a new keyboard or change the layout of my keyboard or something else to do with keyboards because I like them too much, I would give this a little review based on my experiences in the last two weeks, just about, since I got it and started using it. So the first thing to note is yeah, it's a trackball

 But the ball has that whole texture on it, not sure how well you can see that because my camera doesn't focus that close, there we go, you can see the texture of it, and the sensor in the trackball picks it up, and that's how it tracks the mouse, and it moves the mouse across the screen of your computer. Now it also has the four buttons here, you can see one, two, three, four, and it doesn't have a scroll wheel, you would normally scroll by using the Logitech software that you install on your computer and holding a button and then scrolling, but that's actually really bad, so what I use is this Auto Hotkey script called Marble Scroll, if I think to I'll link it in the description, otherwise just look up Logitech Marble Scrolling AHK and you'll find, you'll find stuff like this. But it uses a program called Auto Hotkey to hook into your trackball's input to the computer, and when you hold down this button you can move the ball and it will scroll in any direction, and it's really well made, and I find it to be the best solution for me, but your mileage may vary. I got this trackball on recommendation from, the price is on eBay, and the people at rslash trackballs on Reddit, it's generally considered a really good first trackball budget model, and I would agree, having not used a trackball before now more than once or twice, it's definitely treating me well, I can kind of play games with it, I can use my computer with it, I can edit video with it, this video is going to be unedited, like I said, but I have edited video with this trackball without pulling out a mouse before, and it was totally fine

 Hopefully someone out there can come up with a suitable driver to get this little red button to work.  Note: The seller should have clean up the mouse before shipping it out. It was dirty as hell. Sellers should be responsible to keep their products nice and clean even for used items

 So the fact that this could be had for $25 or less is nothing short of incredible. It does feel a little light, but not necessarily in a bad way. I would say it's a little bit heavier than the Logitech M570 is, and that's a pretty light trackball. So this one does have a little bit more weight to it

 I just could not find a place where the lack of scroll wheel didn't impact my day-to-day activities. Now, finally, to wrap up the review of the Logitech Trackman Marble, I would give this trackball a solid five out of 10. And that is 100% due to the missing scroll wheel feature that this device really should have. If this were to have a scroll wheel, it would immediately jump up to an eight or a nine

I have been having some recent carpal tunnel and RSI when using my current mouse, so I decided to embark on a quest to seek relief via ergonomic mice. I upgraded my keyboard to a Kinesis Advantage 2 a little over 6 months ago (and recently switching from Qwerty to Colemak mod DH) because of similar strain issues and now I feel no pain while typing and I actually enjoy the physical motions of typing on it. Since this was such a massive improvement I figured that I would take a stab at improving my mouse experience as well. 

I have been using the Logitech MX Vertical for a couple weeks now and while I do like the new angle my hand/wrist is in, I find that the position is a little awkward for my hand sometimes and my wrist occasionally still feels some pain. I was thinking of trying other vertical mice like Evoluent since it is completely vertical and seems more comfortable, but I decided to do some research into trackballs since I think the pain comes from moving my wrist side to side when operating a traditional mouse.

I have some previous, albeit brief experience with the Logitech Trackman Marble when I was younger, so I am assuming that switching to a trackball wouldn't be too drastic for me. My number one criteria that I was looking for was comfort, but I also want to make an investment in something that will last a long time. For that reason, I am choosing a finger trackball instead of thumb-balls as I have some RSI in my thumb as well. After looking at a bunch of reddit posts and youtube reviews, I think I narrowed it down to these two: Kensington Expert and the Ploopy Classic Trackball.

The Kensington is intriguing since you can use your entire hand/palm to move the trackball around, it's ambidextrous, and the wrist-rest looks nice, but from what I've read the scroll-ring and bearings will likely be slightly grittier, and I hear their software is meh. OTOH, the Ploopy looks super comfy and the programmability/longevity is a plus, but I am worried about any added strain from only using your index and middle fingers to control the trackball. Also keeping your wrist somewhat prone during use is a little concerning, as I would probably want a tenting block to go with it, but I currently don't have access to a 3D printer so I would probably have to spend a little more to implement a custom solution. Then again, this is very similar to MTE design which a lot of people say is one of the most comfortable trackballs ever. I don't think the Kensington will be a problem here because of the wrist-rest and that I can switch between hands, but I could be wrong. The last minor thing to mention would click-and-drag, I'm pretty sure Ploopy has a way to modify one of the keys to perform this without holding a key down while moving the trackball, but I am not sure if this is possible with the Kensington (not that I do this a lot but it's something to think about).

Does anyone have experience with either/both of these peripheral devices that can better clue me in? All/any Responses are appreciated, and thanks in advance. Also shoutout to this awesome community for helping me do all this research!

Kensington Expert vs Ploopy Classic Trackball

 It is hard it find verifiable original sealed boxes; I have a several. 2) Often trackballs where returned to their box after a period of use. When these units come to market more than a decade later they are often unknowingly misrepresented as new or slightly used. 3) Few new units remain - a new unit should have: shrink wrapped manuals, sealed software, a neatly bundled and tied cord, a warranty card and 

 But these twenty year old trackballs work just fine as a three button mouse right out of the box. I am using a T-CJ12 on this modern Windows OS computer as a plug and play device. The trackball and two big buttons work like a regular mouse, the small white button either is scroll lock or if you are on a link opens that link in a new tab, the small red button is non-functional without installing additional software.
