I'm trying to decide what I should get my father for his first real flashlight, but I'm in a bit of a pickle trying to find one. I'll make my requirements list short and sweet:

1. Bright as s*** 4000lm+ (high cri would be nice but it's not a requirement)
2. Simple U.I. (he can't figure out Andruil. on/off without strobes, simple ramping is fine)
3. Single 18650 (or AA is fine if there's anything that bright that uses them)
4. Preferably brass, copper, etc. Something he can show off
5. Under $100

The biggest ones here are the user interface and output. It needs to be off and on, with one or two click ramping. Think d4v2 but always in muggle mode.

I've been working with a realtor for the past several weeks and he's been great. Every time we see a house, the first thing he does is dive into the darkest, dankest crawlspaces and corners and start looking for signs of water intrusion, mold, or other problems. I've crawled through many of the dark places of the earth with this guy, he with his $3 tactical flashlight, me with my zebralight.

Now after several weeks of looking, circumstances have changed at it looks like I'm going to buy  a house across state lines, where he's not a licensed realtor. I hate that he won't get a commission after all the work he's done for me, so I want to buy him a gift.

Here's what I'm looking for:

\- High CRI

\- Impressively bright (pants-on-fire bright would be ideal but not necessary)

\- Sexy (compact, sleek, great out-of-the-box wow factor)

\- More floody than spotty

\- Muggle Friendly: a simple UI is nice, but more important is making sure he doesn't have to think about over-charging or over-discharging unprotected cells. USB charging is ideal.

This probably rules out options like the FW3A, D4V2, and 1x18650 Zebralights unless someone can recommend a dead-simple, reliable charger that will allow him to never think about the fact that the batteries are unprotected.

Looking for a pocket thrower.

That does bring me to my only actual gripe and one which almost caused me to drop a star. The optional 18650 battery tube is tight. I can comfortably use my EagleTac 3400mah battery but not a Nitecore 2300, or 3400 battery, or a Orbtronics 3500mah battery. Those will fit with a little persuasion but I'm not about to slide one in without a little breathing room

Skilhunt M150 V2. Great little light. Looks super cool, fits in any small or crowded pocket, plenty bright, 90 CRI, magnetic tailcap and charging, takes multiple cell types, configurable UI.... It would be the perfect 14500 light...

EXCEPT. That side switch is sooo easy to accidentally press. I cannot ever seem to carry it in my pocket without either it going off, or having to lock it or twist the tailcap every time...almost ruins the light, imo.

What's your favorite example of a light that's mostly great, but has one huge Achilles heel that ruins it or holds it back from being fantastic?
