High end family tent

-IMHO, I would not purchase a new tent that doesn’t have two doors/vestibules for storage.  These tent doors are large and there is plenty of room for gear to be outside.

-Very roomy and tall. I’m 6’ and can stand in the center no problems.  Used two twin air mattresses and had plenty of room for a small action packer to be inside with random gear.

This is my third Marmot tent.  I bought this to be a base tent mostly to be used on multi day river trips.

Hey gear enthusiasts. I'm hoping to tap into the collective knowledge on this subreddit to help me choose a tent.

A lifetime ago, I used to do tons of backcountry and expeditionary camping and knew the ins and outs of all the gear out there. But that was...a lifetime ago. Now as a 30-some-odd father of a five year old kiddo who is (finally) showing interest in camping, I'm in the market for a good six-person-ish tent.

I'd put in some research and finally settled on a tent; the Marmot Halo 6....only to discover they are discontinued and am now back at second-guessing between a few choices. I hope all of you more knowledgeable folks might help push me in the right direction.

*The specifics:* 

**Location**: We live in the PNW and are expecting to do about 70/30 camping along the coast of southern Washington, Oregon and Northern California, with occasional forays into the Cascades. As such, a big requirement is weather durability. I'm looking for a true 3-season tent that can stand up to rain as well as decent wind. We won't be camping in gale-force winds or anything, but pacific coast can have 20-30mph wind whip up with little warning.

**Occupants**: The tent needs to house two adults, a wiggly five year old and three (...yes, three) big (60lbs+) dogs. The dogs are great at camping so I'm not worried about them going through the mesh in search of squirrels or anything like that, but I do want the tent to be durable, especially on the floor, so errant dog nails don't turn the thing into swiss cheese.

Size-wise, I was thinking something along the 70-90sqft area. Enough to fit a queen air mattress, a cot/twin air mattress and a few dog beds. We set up my older Kelty 4.2 tent in the back yard and were able to get the humans comfy, but the dogs where left out in the metaphorical cold, so six-person tent seems to be the way to go. Gear storage is not a big concern, as we'll have the car nearby.

**Camping style**: Car camping all the way; the wife eye-daggered me to death when I suggested long-distance hiking with the five year old. As such, the tent is going to be primarily a place to hang out, sleep, maybe play a few games if the weather is crummy. We have tons of toys we bring along, but all of that is going to be living/on in the car and not the tent.

*The contestants:* So, due to the wind requirement, I eliminated high-rise tents like the REI Kingdom and Eureka Copper CanyonLX6 or other similar non-dome tents. 

I knocked out the North Face Wawona due to its focus on the big gear storage space at the cost of living space, and also because I read that its kinda crummy in rainy weather (a big no-no for costal climates).

I also knocked off pretty much all the Coleman tents because they seem to be pretty low quality. Lots of reviews and anecdotal folks saying they have cheap material, need long time to dry, can't keep up with multi-day camping trips, etc. Dunno if that's true...but that's why I'm here!

That left me with the aforementioned and discontinued Marmot Halo 6 (sad face) and REI Basecamp 6, the Marmot Limestone 6P and...ummm....yeah. Of the two, the Basecamp seems to be the better one, but neither is blowing me away like the Marmot Halo 6 did. 

Price isn't really a concern; I'd like to stick in the $600 or less range, but can go higher if there's something that's just the bees knees out there. I do want an emphasis on high quality, durable, and long-lasting.

So, my questions to all of you folks smarter than me - what's your recommendation for a six-person, 3-season, durable, high-quality car-camping focused family tent that can stand up to the weather of the pacific northwest. Are the Basecamp and Limestone really the only two main options? Are there others that I missed and should look at? Should I just buy two high quality 4-person tents and attempt to Frankenstein them together? (joking...I hope...)

Recommendations for a 6-person 3-season, kiddo and dog friendly high quality tent that isn't the Marmot Halo 6

I absolutely love the design of the Limstone, it is SO easy to set up, and the fly appears much more weather-ready than most other non-mountaineering base-camp tents on the market.

Decent family size tent?

  Just came back from GTNP and had unexpected rain and strong winds, but the tent was solid and kept us dry.  The only knock I have so far is the front vestibule/garage seems undersized, which became evident during the recent rainy trip.  I can easily stand up in the tent, but have to crouch down in the front vestibule.  Also, the way the door to the vestibule is designed, we kept exposing the inside of the tent to the rain every time we opened the door to get in and out

What is the best 6 person tent(under 300$)…for mainly car camping and some fishing trips?

  Overall, nice tent.  Hard to find tent with all the features we were looking for.  This one came the closest.

Limestone 6P good but could use improvement.

You would be way better off with a Marmot, Big Agnes, Sierra Designs (not the Target ones though), Naturehike, MSR etc. If you can stretch your budget then the Marmot Limestone 6p, Halo 6p or Torreya 6p would work awesome. https://www.reddit

Finally getting the wife excited about doing some camping. We currently do not have a tent so I am looking for advice. My main concern is that I need something big enough for a family of 4 but I will need to be able to set it up myself if possible as sometimes it will just be my kid and I and I dont want to buy a second smaller tent just yet. I was looking at the Ozark trail 9 person with screen room. Has anyone ever used this tent before?
We will be doing 99% car camping or drive in sites. Nothing crazy out in the woods so I do not need anything special.
