 G'day, Jarrod from Tyreview here and I'm with Grant today and Grant's been spending the last six months or so doing 10,000km on the Michelin Pilot Sport 4s in his Renault Megane 265 Cup car, it's an RS sport car out of Renault. Yeah right, so how many kilowatts has it got? 200. 200 total. It's got the front wheels, so it can be a bit of a handful but yeah, awesome car to drive

 Great road handling. And you've got a tradition of having fairly fast little cars haven't you? I've had a range of them, Subaru, WRXs, Porsche, some Porsches, yeah a few different things. That's not bad, that's not bad at all. So in terms of the tyre on this car, how do you feel like they've performed for your day to day living? As soon as I put them on it was really a, straight away it was a totally different car to drive, the old tyres that I had on it really had no confidence in the drive, very little feedback as soon as I put these on, feedback through the steering wheel was great, grip levels and confidence with that has been awesome, just been a pleasure to drive and total change to the way the car actually runs

 Really? Yep absolutely. How long, you've done about 10,000km now, have you sort of had a look to see how much longer do you reckon you've got on these tyres? Oh look I'd say I'll get a good 35,000km out of these at this point in time. That's pretty amazing for that grip level in this sort of car. And look I drive this every day to work, it's about a 70km round trip on open roads, windy open roads so if I can do the speed limit it, I'm doing the speed limit it

- G'day. Jared from Tyre Review here, and I'm with Grant today and Grant's been spending the last six months or so

- Yeah

- Um. Since I put them on that was really a um. Straightaway it was a totally different car to drive The old tyres that I had on it really had no confidence in the dry, very little feedback. Since I put these on, feedback through the steering wheel was great grip levels and confidence with that has been awesome. Just been a pleasure to drive and total change to the way the car, car actually runs.

- Yeah, so for taking them for a joy ride through the hills.

- Ah, awesome. Yeah, it's a car that you can really push through the corners and have a lot of confidence, yeah you turn into a corner grip level straight away high, yeah changing road conditions through the corner, tyres just don't even think about giving up. I mean just hold on and hold on. So then the feel feedback through the steering wheel through those corners is just amazing.

- What's the under steer characteristics of this car usually?

- Um pretty, pretty neutral. Really?!

- Yeah. That's good.

- So certainly with these tyres on it's been pretty, pretty neutral. The old tyres. Yeah. It just was quite variable, I must say.

- And the tyres, had the old tyres seen some wear and where were they've sort of,

- That were actually I was gonna say probably 50% of the way through their life and they were just very, very horrible. Then they were average in the dry, in the wet diabolical. Couldn't wait to get rid of them.

- Really?

- Yep. Absolutely.

- How long that give, you've done about 10,000 cars now, if you sort of had to look to see how much longer do you reckon your car on these tyres?

- I look I'd say I'll get good 35000 K at least at this point in time.

- That's pretty amazing for that grip level in this sort of car.

- Ah, yeah And I look out to drive this every day to work, it's about a 70 kilometre round trip on open roads windy open road, so yeah. If I can do the speed limit, I'm doing the speed limit.

- Yeah, it is a daily fun, so

- So who would you recommend this tyre for the Michelin Pilot Sport 4?

- In all honesty, general drivers, it's a great tyre from that perspective but if you had someone that wanted to have a bit more fun with a car that like this that you can actually have a bit of fun in it's a tyre that really suits that as well. I haven't actually had to go on the track with this yet, but with these tyres Just judging what it's like in the, on the dry roads. It's, yeah. I'd say anyone that wants to, yeah is a more adventurous driver if you want to say it that way. These tyres really suit.

- Very well there's a track day coming up on the 21st here in at Baskerville so we might see you out there.

- [Grant] That sounds like a good plan.

- So Grant, you know, they're awesome, they corner well, they grip to the road well. What are the downsides of these tyres?

- Um, probably really only noticed two, first one would be really that the road noise, certainly on, you know course chip sealed roads, the noise levels are probably a little higher than I might've anticipated.

- In comparison to these previous tyres that you love so much.

- Oh, not in comparison to others that I've had, you know it's just a bit noisier, but it could be partly the design of this particular car being a two-door.

 I’ve never had a problem with Michelin brand before and for almost 200 a tire I thought they would last more then 90 days . Will not purchase from Amazon or this brand anymore and I have an all wheel drive so I can’t just replace two I have to do all 4 at once . Thanks Amazon for another crappy product

 When I asked the seller they said it had been more then 60 days nothing they could do . These are the WORST MICHELIN TIRES I HAVE EVER OWNED . I’ve never had a problem with Michelin brand before and for almost 200 a tire I thought they would last more then 90 days . Will not purchase from Amazon or this brand anymore and I have an all wheel drive so I can’t just replace two I have to do all 4 at once

 If you want some fancy facts, it has an asymmetric tread pattern, which puts more rubber on the shoulder of the tire to improve the grip. It has extreme silica tread compound that is inspired by race tread designs. You can see all the little sipes in here that are gonna push everything out of the way. And if that isn't enough, well we have Helio technology that helps grip the road even in that cold ass weather where it literally hurts to walk outside

Great Tire

 It's an update on the old Pilot Super Sport which at one time was the benchmark. Some of the other manufacturers stepped up their game so Michelin had to update a little bit. This is very much a maximum performance tire built from lessons learned in endurance racing. So it gets up to temperature and grips like crazy

 And then you got three inner ribs with a high silica compound for wet grip. You can see as we move to the inside that these grooves in the middle of the tire get bigger. That's going to help you disperse and evacuate the water. This tire has a rim protector to keep those wheels from getting curb rash

 This is very much a maximum performance tire built from lessons learned in endurance racing. So it gets up to temperature and grips like crazy. It's a summer only tire remember so you can't drive at temperatures under 20 degrees Fahrenheit. You can actually damage the tread and the compound

 It's an incredible tire as far as grip and and on the track you get really fast lap time and it's an awesome tire but it's really like a dry only tire when you get it in the rain like it's pretty much dangerous. This tire is a little bit different because we can still drive it back and forth to work in the rain as long as it's warm. Now remember that you can't drive a tire like this summer only tire at under 20 degrees Fahrenheit because it'll literally tear these blocks up and the compound will come apart and crack. So we all know that Michelin tires for the most part always stay black especially on the sides of the tire

Everyone really liked the previous Michelin review on the LTX, so I thought I would bring in a few more Michelin tires to review and look at, starting with the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. The Michelin Pilot Sport 4s is simply the best Ultra High Performance Summer Tire on the market and you're about to find out why! This tire is an update from the old Michelin Pilot Super Sport which at one time was the benchmark! 

The best applications for the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S include high end BMW’s, Mercedes AMG cars, Porsche, Chevrolet Corvette, Ferrari’s, and any other car that you need the ultimate level of performance. 

This is very much a maximum performance tire built from lessons learned in endurance racing. But it comes with some need to know details which I cover in the review.

 So, if you're under heavy load, if you're under heavy cornering, because of the way that they build the tire, it has different compounds in different sections of the tire and we've actually talked about that in our tire talk. What that allows you to do is it gets you the traction that you need when you're going under heavy loads or when you're going around turns or anything like that and it's also gonna give you the reliability and the quietness when you're not doing those things because you don't always want a big soft traction patch. You're not always gonna want a big heavy traction patch. You're gonna want a combination of the two

 Definitely a 10 out of 10. I mean, these things grip like nobody's business, even when we're going around and we're having fun. But at the same time, if you're paying a lot of money, you better get what you want. So I'm Alex from Fitment Industries

So, Michelin has figured out a way to put the right compound in the right spots of the tire so that when you're driving casually, you're not gonna notice that you have a performance tire underneath you, but when you're going under turns or maybe you're going under heavy load, you do notice it. You notice it actually very, very well

 So, there's a couple things that the 4Ss have that I think really kind of set it apart from other wheels out there. So, the first thing that they have is a dynamic response tech, which essentially is within the tire and what it allows it to do is you get almost like different tire compounds depending on what you're doing with the tire. So, if you're under heavy load, if you're under heavy cornering, because of the way that they build the tire, it has different compounds in different sections of the tire and we've actually talked about that in our tire talk.
