It doesn't have the go-anywhere range of a comparably-priced cordless model like the Dyson V15 Detect, and you'll have to pay a premium to get a C3 model with a powerhead that's as effective on carpets as that of the Dyson Ball Animal 3. Still, it's worth a look if you prefer the more maneuverable design of a canister vacuum over a bulkier upright. It's remarkably effective in dealing with pet hair and has a superb filtration system, even if you don't spring for a pricier variant with a HEPA-rated filter. Build quality is fantastic, and the vacuum has a seven-level power adjustment feature, so you can quickly adapt to a range of surface types.

If you're looking for a mid-priced alternative to the C3, the Miele Classic C1 is a great option that delivers similar overall performance; however, it doesn't have the C3's onboard tool storage compartment and feels less robust.

If you want to go corded but prefer the more maneuverable design of a canister compared to an upright vacuum, the Miele Complete C3 Alize PowerLine is a great choice. Unlike the Dyson Ball Animal 3, this variant of the C3 only has a basic straight suction floorhead, so while it doesn't provide the same level of surface agitation on carpets, you also don't need to worry about hair getting tangled within a brushroll mechanism. It also does a fantastic job of dealing with hair on fabric surfaces when used with its included upholstery tool. It feels amazingly well-built and has a fully-sealed construction, so you won't have to worry too much about allergens, even if you go for a cheaper model without a HEPA-rated post-motor filter.

The SEBO Airbelt D4 is a great alternative if you want something that incurs lower ownership costs. That said, the SEBO is heavier and bulkier. If you don't mind the lack of an on-board storage compartment and a shorter range, the Miele Classic C1 PowerLine Pure Suction is a good mid-priced option, while the flimsy-feeling Eureka Mighty Mite is still worth a look if you want something budget-friendly.

If you want to stick with a corded mode, the best vacuum cleaner for laminate floors we've tested is the Miele Complete C3 Alize PowerLine. It's much pricier than a basic canister vacuum like the Eureka Mighty Mite and not as easy to set up and use as a cordless model like the Samsung Jet 90 Complete. However, it's still the first choice if you prioritize superb deep cleaning performance and excellent build quality above all else. Its powerful 1200W suction motor results in fantastic debris-pickup performance on bare floors, but it also makes very little noise while running. It's also remarkably easy to maintain and has some thoughtful quality-of-life features that make cleaning easier, like a power cord that retracts at the press of a button, an onboard storage compartment, and an allergen-sealed canister body.

Unfortunately, this variant is quite hard to find, though you can configure the C3 HomeCare model with a similar range of equipment. Its hose is short, making it difficult to clean hard-to-reach areas. It also uses dirtbags that are a little on the small side, so you'll have to swap in a new one semi-regularly if you clean a lot. Consider the SEBO Airbelt D4 if those are both significant drawbacks, as the SEBO uses larger dirtbags and longer-lasting filters, resulting in lower recurring costs, and has a considerably longer power cord. However, it's also heavier than the Miele and more hassle to maneuver due to its stiffer hose.

Miele Kona Complete C3 Vacuum Quick Overview

I would recommend a Miele C3 canister style vacuum. I have a more basic one, without the power head and it's great for hardwood, tile and low-pile carpet.

We are moving to a new house soon and are looking for a decent vacuum, but would also like to be able to clean our current one before we move! Our last vacuum was a Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Lift Off. It had great suction, but we have long hair and 2 cats, and the hair was always tangled in the brush roll and the brush roll burned out frequently. It was more of a PITA to clean the vacuum.

Our current apartment is mostly carpet, with a kitchen and bathroom that has tile. 800ish square feet. 

Our new house: 1400ish square feet. Unfinished basement, hardwood floors in the living room and on the stairs, tile in the 2 bathrooms and kitchen, carpeted in the upstairs hallway and in both bedrooms.

We don't have a budget. Preferably looking for something with a hose attachment, if possible, something not too bulky - our last one was so clunky, but since we will have a bigger place bulkiness won't be a huge issue; that can clean hardwood floors, tile, carpet, stairs, and can handle long hair and pet hair.

Recommendations for a good vacuum for carpeted and hardwood floor for people with long hair and cats?

This review covers our first impressions, and we hope they are wrong.  We purchased this after our failure prone Miele upright was seriously lacking reliability. Reviews for this unit indicated that the canister types are much more reliable, but I have doubts.  The vacuum is okay, but not a game changer and not worth the added costs for a unit that may only last a couple years

 Hope I'm wrong about this because of the $$$$ invested, but time will tell if the engineers or the accountants produced the final product. However, at this time I'm betting on the accountants.

Seems Fragile

 This is our favorite floor brush the Miele makes. Now this unit is also completely sealed. That means one hundred percent of the air that gets taken in the unit gets pushed through the entire filtration process before it gets pushed out the exhaust. It's going to come with this hepa filter

 It's going to come with this electric power head. This is going to be used on your short, medium and high pile carpet. Has five height adjustments controlled by this foot pedal here. It also has a nice large rubber wheels

 This is going to help this power head stay on top of the carpet instead of sink in and be harder to push. This is a great benefit for customers with really high pile carpeting. It's also going to come with this floor brush. Really soft bristles, really nice swivel neck

 Complete Kona Vacuum Cleaner. Now this vacuum cleaner is designed for customers with all types of flooring. It's going to come with this electric power head. This is going to be used on your short, medium and high pile carpet

Miele Kona Vacuum Review - Quick Overview & Tutorial

I purchased a new Sebo Felix and have until Friday to return it if I don’t like it.  I have been so sure this was the vacuum for my needs (mostly hardwoods with area rugs).  I do like the vacuum and know it does an excellent job, but I have a few reservations.  

1.  It feels heavy.  I was surprised at how heavy it is.  I know it has a powerful dual motor so I am likely expecting too much but it looked so small and compact the weight surprised me.
2.  Using the hose with attachments is a bit difficult since it won’t stand upright.  I know it is supposed to be carried like a canister vacuum but it’s fairly heavy.  Im sure I will get used to it but habitually I kept it upright and it would fall over.
3.  I feel like the “handle” part of the vacuum should be on the opposite side for maneuvering it easier.  It feels like it’s made for a leftie.  I don’t know exactly why I need the handle when using as an upright but I kept feeling likeI needed to grab the handle and it was on the wrong side.  I’m not sure if this makes sense to anyone….?

Does anyone have any experience with the longer hose you can purchase or the extension wand?  Do you use it frequently if?  I wish it wasn’t a separate hose to buy and somehow could be a tad longer onboard hose.

Anyone have the backpack strap and is it useful?  I think I want to try it out but not sure how comfortable and useable it would be.

I will likely be keeping it but for a $699 vacuum I want to love everything about it without reservation.  The guy gave me a discount and I paid $630 (I think ?).  I thought without a doubt this was “The One” for me and maybe it is but would love to hear what others have to say.

Clunky and heavy! I own both this $1,700 & C1 pure suction ++read below before you choose & buy++

 The ergonomic handle with the switch on it is great. Finally, the interior where the bags sits stays super clean, and I love not having to touch the nastiness you vacuum up like you have to with a non-bagged unit like a Dyson. Who would want to do that? Gross.  Overall I am glad I purchased

 I don’t absolutely love it, though.  My main issue is with the powerbrush. The connection between the wand and the powerbrush is not great. Maybe it is just my specific powerbrush, but I have to struggle and wiggle and push hard to get it to snap in pretty much every time, which is irritating because I switch back-and-forth between the powerbrush and the non-powerbrush quite a bit (I have one full floor of porcelain tile floors with area rugs)

 Moves and snaps in with ease. Buttons easy to push with your feet. I must have gotten a lemon powerbrush originally. Moral: great vacuum and if everything you get doesn’t work smoothly from the start, exchange it

The only limits I really have is space. Which is why I'm not out getting a shop vac. 

I want it to suction so hard it rivals a black hole. 

Don't care if it's stick, wand less, cordless, battery powered.

Recmendation for Suction power &gt; anything else.

 You have to forcefully DRAG it backwards (for the forward/backward motion of vacuuming). Miele Engineers - You obviously have NOT tried to vacuum carpets in your own home with this. PLEASE REDESIGN - you are making people suffer!!! If possible (which most of the options I've seen do not provide you with this), I would definitely recommend the C3 Kona Canister Vacuum itself, together with the Electrical Wand, but NOT this powerbrush - there is a much lighter version of the electrical powerbrush available (and it costs less).

 Here are the main issues we have with this Powerbrush (which is the reason why this vacuum model is being rated with 4 stars, not 5):  Powerbrush model - SEB 228 Electro Plus. This thing weighs 6.5 lbs (by itself, without the wand). While it might not seem like a lot - it is

 PLEASE REDESIGN - you are making people suffer!!! If possible (which most of the options I've seen do not provide you with this), I would definitely recommend the C3 Kona Canister Vacuum itself, together with the Electrical Wand, but NOT this powerbrush - there is a much lighter version of the electrical powerbrush available (and it costs less).
