I am a professional groomer and exclusively use Miller Forge nail clippers.

I'm really not super happy with these. I have the smaller, red-handled ones as well. I decided to get these because I love the red-handles ones so much, but they're a little too small for my hound's thick nails. These aren't nearly as sharp

Disappointing Results on Thick, Tough Front Nails

 I needed clippers that allowed me to make small cuts and shave small pieces of nail off at a time as to avoid the quick. I actually use my old cheap petco clippers I was hoping to replace. These seem sharp but somehow do not cut easily. They seems pretty durable they just don’t work like I expected

 Pictured below is a comparison between the Millers Forge Dog Clip, Large on the right and the other product Top Paw brand from Petsmart (size small) that I will continue to use on the left. The Top Paw ones are a bit small for grip, but the Millers Forge were a bit too large. I'd rather have to replace the Top Paw clippers every couple years when they're dull than cause her pain or nail damage.

Cracked my 50# dog's hard nails even though I am an experienced clipper

 Anything weighing less, I would select a smaller pair as these might just be too much for the job. They DO NOT have a guard, so if you are inexperienced in nail trimming, I might not recommend them as a first pair. I prefer clippers without a guard, because for me the guard gets in the way. They don't have any fancy silicone grips or extra attachments so they don't look "nice

Not a Fit for My Dogs

I use these clippers as a professional groomer, and they're really great for dogs with very thick or large nails. You do have to put a lot of pressure behind them to get them to fully clip through the nail, and sometimes it is a little difficult, but it gets the job done very well. They also are quite hefty, they're bigger than my hand and I have average-sized lady hands, if you're like me and were wondering how big large was.
