I've had the KATO for 4 months, and it marked my maturity in this hobby. I've had much less of an urge to find my next TOTL. This tuning, as imperfect as it is, is serviceable, I know that because I EQed it to IEF neutral (my preferred target) and I don't like it more. This level of technical performance, while far from the best, suffices for what I listen to, which after all isn't that technical.

Mid-tier - Moondrop Kato ($190 USD) \[Recommended if you want to stay in the budget, evolution of the Aria and a good IEM overall, cant go wrong with it\]. Mid+ tier (a bit out of budget)- 7Hz Timeless ($220 USD) \[Great planar IEMs with great reviews, has surprised the market, some don't like planars though, people say its better than the Kato\].

I've been mostly listening to the Moondrop KATO lately. While I still enjoy the KATO very much (and I need them when I require isolation) the Koss are way more fun to listen to. I've had several "throw the headphones off your head because something you heard from the headphones sounded like it was in the house" moments. My favorite headphones are the ModHouse Argons (I haven't been using them much since moving to a warmer climate and they make me sweat) but now I'm not sure.

I figured I might as well set my budget higher to avoid all these nitpicky issues and so set my eyes on the **Moondrop Kato** since they are generally well-received. I'm interested in better technicalities as well, something I hear the Aria's are rather average in. Listening to the sound demo of the Kato's, they are very energetic and engaging but are just on the edge of fatiguing (I was listening through the BL03's, so of course, that can't be accurate to the real ones). Their bass, while present, was also kinda lacking for my taste.
