Mountain Hardwear AMG 55 Pack

I got this for longer and possible multiday tours. The zippered avalanche pocket is not good at all. It cannot hold am industry standard 280/300/320 mm avy probe and a shovel blade and shovel handle. Going to return.

The backpack looks good and has sturdy construction, but in my opinion it has one critical flaw. The shoulder harness is very uncomfortable and the Velcro behind your back is very noisy. Had to return immediately. I will say that I enjoy other products by Mountain Hardwear very much.

As a guide my packs are essential and I have loved the previous model packs but not by this pack. It’s over designed to much extra material. As many have said it doesn’t fit a larger probe and the crampon pouch is oversized.

Great piece of equipment. Thoughtfully designed, rescue pocket works superb. Water bottle pockets are impressively useable with skis a-framed. Brain is very adaptable. Great quality for the price.
