 The 3080 Ti for laptops is closest to the RTX 3070 based on our testing which is no slouch of a card, the 3070 is very decent, it's just not at the high-end of the desktop market. So anyway that's it for this brief look at the RTX 3080 Ti for laptops, we'll be back shortly with a look at the RTX 3070 Ti for laptops as well, I expect that to be perhaps more of a relevant GPU for people buying laptop sort of products, I think the 3080 class stuff tends to be far too expensive, 3070 stuff in the past has been fairly reasonable, so I'm keen to check that out, and as I said we are currently in the process of kind of going through and updating a lot of our GPU testing for laptops, so a few things will get more GPU results in the coming weeks and everything.  Welcome back to Harder Unboxed, today we're just going to be taking a quick look at the new NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Laptop GPU, which is the highest tier laptop product NVIDIA will be offering in these early parts of 2022, superseding the older RTX 3080. This GPU presents a pretty minor refresh on the current lineup to coincide with the latest range of gaming laptops powered by Intel Alder Lake and AMD Ryzen 6000 processors. The RTX 3080 Ti Laptop isn't your typical refresh though, because NVIDIA have decided to create new silicon for this product, GA103, previously the largest die NVIDIA were using in laptops was GA104, but this new GA103 die gives us access to more processing cores, without the need to go all the way up to massive GA102 silicon which would be somewhat impractical for laptop form factors. On the spec sheet there are two main improvements to the 3080 Ti Laptop over the 3080 Laptop that came before it

 This sort of small performance gain on average presents a difficult situation for laptop buyers. If you can find an RTX 3080 Ti laptop with a similar configuration at the same price as an older RTX 3080 laptop, no issues there at all, it makes sense to grab the newer and slightly faster model. You'll also almost certainly benefit from new platform advantages as a whole too, like an upgraded CPU and better display. But for pure gamers, I'd find it hard to recommend an RTX 3080 Ti laptop if it was more expensive than an RTX 3080 system, which usually are expensive enough as is

 With that said, these margins aren't too different to what is seen on the desktop side where the RTX 3080 Ti is less than 10% faster than the RTX 3080, so the laptop market is also seeing the typical very marginal gains at the high-end wallet gouging segment. But I do want to reiterate here that the RTX 3080 Ti for laptops is nowhere near as fast as the RTX 3080 Ti for desktops, and ends up 20-30% slower than even the RTX 3080 desktop GPU in most cases, there's simply no substitute for desktop gaming power. The 3080 Ti for laptops is closest to the RTX 3070 based on our testing which is no slouch of a card, the 3070 is very decent, it's just not at the high-end of the desktop market. Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Laptop Benchmark Review

On ultra I would get the same performance as the 3080ti. The games I have tested on. -Battlefield 2042: Barley and GPU usage, 50-80fps on ultra raytracing disabled.

 Ray tracing is nice but it still struggles on max settings you won't get 60fps ray tracing in a forest in dying light 2. You'll get about 20-28. I have it matched with a i9 12900kf (non integrated graphics version of 12900k) I've benchmarked it 3d marked it found my stable over clock and all that. I would highly suggest getting the 4 year amazon warranty

I don't think you'll be getting a proper Nvidia warranty buying through a scalper I could be wrong but I believe Nvidia warranties only apply through verified 3rd party or Nvidia themselves. I payed 1670$ for anyone who might want to compare what price they may be looking at

 However, the regular 3080 had its fans going into full jet engine mode. This thing really does get loud. So in reality, at least when it comes to these FE versions of the cards, one of the biggest upgrades coming from the 80 is just how much quieter the Ti is under sustained load. Interestingly, the 3090 was just as quiet as the Ti, but it managed it with lower temperatures thanks to the far larger heatsink chassis, which must be in the order of twice the thermal capacity as the 3080s

 And finally, if we switch to some synthetic benchmarks, in 3D Mark Time Spy, the Ti was 9% faster than the 3080, and the 3090 was just 2% faster than the Ti, all of which shows the Ti really is closer to the top tier card overall. It's also worth noting that during my testing, the 3080 Ti actually got quite a bit hotter than the 3080, and yet the fan stayed relatively slow, even under sustained load in Furmark. However, the regular 3080 had its fans going into full jet engine mode. This thing really does get loud

Again though, even against the 3080 that is an improvement, but it's not really that noticeable.  I'd normally go for the regular 3080.  However, in the current market, where its nearly impossible to get regular 3080's for under $1400, the 3080Ti at of $1600 is suddenly something to consider. I had an aging RTX 2080, that just couldn't cut it on my new Samsung Odyssey G9. 5120x1440 was too much for the 2080 to drive in newer titles

Its a 3080Ti, its a monster at gaming. And at $1600, far more expensive than I'd normally ever spend. I'd normally go for the regular 3080.  However, in the current market, where its nearly impossible to get regular 3080's for under $1400, the 3080Ti at of $1600 is suddenly something to consider

 I had an aging RTX 2080, that just couldn't cut it on my new Samsung Odyssey G9. 5120x1440 was too much for the 2080 to drive in newer titles. So it became time to upgrade.  FedEx did terrible with shipping on this, they were delayed by 2 days

At MSRP, its still overpriced, but its basically the 2nd to fastest thing on the market today.

Here we did a full suite of thermals power acoustics. We did flatness testing surface pressure testing everything spent like a day on just the accessory testing alone for the 3080ti, not even counting the games, and you know at the end of it

 Looking at, we retested the 3080 non-ti for this review, specifically slight moving numbers upwards. As the drivers have advanced and things like that, so that's fresh data, but ultimately the average was closer to maybe eight depending so that the tens were rare and it was mostly in 4k higher resolution scenarios high load, the 30 90. It doesn't even matter it's just not relevant, it's not something you should be buying for gaming. It'S a card maybe for artists for game developers, people who can work in unreal engine or something make use of that vram, but it just doesn't make sense to really run it as a comparison for games

 Ultimately, we just grew increasingly frustrated with nvidia's rtx 3080ti, which is launching tomorrow from date of review going up, but review embargo lives today. So we're here to review it and tell you why we became increasingly frustrated with it. It'S a number of reasons, one of which is the price twelve hundred dollars before that this video is brought to you by corsair and their 5000d airflow. The corsair 5000d airflow is an atx tower with high material, build quality and a focus on cooling performance, with attention paid to small details

 What benchmark we were testing. We don't need charts for this. That'S all you need to know 90 to 100 c uh, not a good spot, to be thermally for a car. That'S twelve hundred dollars, nvidia get real 80 degrees for the memory backside

 It'S a nice way to subsidize your purchase and NVIDIA has clearly just demonstrated a refreshing willingness to listen., But let's bring it back to the card.. Should you spend your money on an RTX 3080 TI? Well, if you can get one at MSRP, it's a no brainer and if you're, comparing it to an RTX 3090, it's cheaper

 It'S slightly less power hungry. It has less overall heat output, it's smaller in the case of the founder's edition, so compatibility will be better and presumably it will be easier to find in stock., Meaning it's a winner. And while scalpers are likely to continue to price these things out of reach of Many gamers the scalpocalypse isn't going to last forever
