Particularly many UI workloads would be run on the A76 cores of the chip, which just outright have a 30% perf/W disadvantage. The phone ends up OK in terms of absolute battery life, however performance metrics are lower than other devices.

Sure, Apple has some special features like LIDAR sensors or magnetic interfaces in addition to the closed ecosystem, but otherwise, the OnePlus 9 Pro offers much of what more expensive smartphones can do. You get a high-quality device, a lot of performance, good battery life, a highly color-accurate display, a flexible camera, fast-charging technology, and up-to-date as well as fast communication features.

I understand the Pro isn’t exactly this big leap over the standard 12 but what it has extra is worth it to me. For an extra ~$100 I get better multi tasking and app opening speeds, the LiDar sensor seems to be pretty good and could prove useful, the better/brighter screen, the telephoto lens, and the better body materials (stainless steel) and better colors. To me that’s worth it.

With the OnePlus 9 Pro, however, these unique features can be seen very clearly. With the omission of a metal frame, it is also up for debate whether, as in the case of the cheaper versions of the Galaxy S21 from Samsung, no glass cover is used on the back of the case. To add to that, I have 2 SIM cards and having the option to run 2x Whatsapp accounts on one phone thanks to the Parallel Apps feature is very handy. Notifications are great though in my experience compared to you, simply because you can turn off individual notifications for every single app, so that you can customize which notifications you do and don't get. It's different to iOS, sure. And then there's the little things, the vibrations motor, the 90Hz, the only Android phone with a hardware mute switch all add up for me to love this phone.
