OPTOMA UHZ50

Looking to finally gift myself a new screen.   I've been holding on to my 60" 1080p plasma as I love the black levels and image, but its time to finally move up to 4K.   My budget is about 4K CDN (\~3K USD) and the largest screen I can fit in my setup is a 92".  I've narrowed it down to a size vs. quality duel between the UHZ50 and a 92" screen for the size option and the LG 77" OLED (C1) as the image quality option.  The viewing distance to the screen is about 9ft and sound is a non-issue as I have an existing 7.1 system in place.    Principle sources will be an XI-6 Set-Top Box (Rogers Ignite TV) and an Nvidia Shield Pro for Plex, OTT &amp; Gaming.  The screen is located in the basement and the room is fully light controlled. 

Looking for feedback from projector owners on whether the trade-off of losing 15" of screen size is worth the image quality improvement of the OLED?  A lot of threads here seem to indicate that projector bang for the buck is really optimal above 100" so wondering if it's still worth it in the 92" range iven the 9' viewing distance?  Insights appreciated.

92" UHZ50 vs. 77" LG OLED

Great for gaming, trash for movies.

 Next up is the Optima UHZ50. Now this is a solid state laser projector DLP. It has real 4k so it's not the kind of fake 4k that some projectors try and give you and they still call themselves 4k. This is real native 4k on this projector

The JVC projector is ceiling mounted about 16 ft from the screen, which is 100 inches and was probably quality in 2008 at 1080 resolution. The front row is about 10 ft and the back row is about 18 ft from the screen.

I was looking for maybe a 4K laser projector for ceiling mount and to get a new screen of maybe 120-130 inches (max I can handle without changing the cabinet work).  I am hoping to spend about $5,000-$6,000.

Any guidance is appreciated.

Edit, I thought I would add a photo of my home theatre that the prior owner of my house built, for your interest. It&#39;s about 25x25ft or so. The woodwork on the columns is all custom, and there is customer pewter crown molding. I really love the lights running around the top. The door looks like it came from an art deco movie house in the 1930s and must weight 150 lbs. Regarding the screen size, that screen is 100 inches, and I can fit about 120-125 inches in the same place. If I box the screen off the wall so it lines up with the from edge of those columns I might get 130-140 inches. Anymore, and I would need to alter the decorative columns and lighting.

Lost and Need Ideas for My Home Theatre Room

I was waiting for the UHZ50 to become available to purchase for several months, and when it was finally release I quickly picked one up. I didn't get it on Amazon but from another shop so I could avoid the idiotic sales tax. Anyway, I will give you my thoughts on this projector so you can decide whether or not to get one.  Brightness ------------------------------ The UHZ50 has a laser light source and does indeed output it's full 3,000 ansi lumens, if not a bit more

Superb Gaming and Excellent All-Around Projector

 Next up movies and again it's all about the color reproduction and also this time we've really noticed the black performance as well. Basically the UHZ50 offers deeper, more detailed blacks and brighter, more saturated colors. Now don't get me wrong the UHZ42 still offers an excellent experience and if you ever see one in person you'll absolutely not be disappointed but put them side by side and it's easy to see the difference. Now it's hard to show on screen but the pure motion mode definitely helps in faster moving scenes especially panning shots where there was a jaggedness on the UHZ42
