 So that was on full whack there, so I'm just going to roll it back. Let's take it to about eleven o'clock and bring the volume up. Yep.  I have a volume and gain that kind of work in tandem with one another, so the more I turn up the volume, the more overall power and headroom I'll basically get. The gain will bring in some of that crunch and thickness and you can dial all of that into your heart's desire.  Let's boost a little bit of gain back in and again. You have to be a little careful with how quickly the volume and gain respond according to how you change them. I'm shopping for a new living room amp. My wife and I our expecting out first born and where I have my PC for amp sims/recording and my amp (Tubemeister 36 and 2x12) is the room next the nursery so not all that practical.

I'm looking for a small amp like a THR10ii or a Spark for the living room that I can use at low volume or with headphones. I would prefer something that's a bit more plug and play than requiring app usage which is part of my hesitation with the Spark. I play mainly metal and post rock/metal but do play a bit of everything so multiple channels is a plus.

I know the Katana has options in a 50w 1x12 that you can lower the power outage on but I feel like it may be too large - but it's worth discussing.

Any one here have the Spark or THR10ii, or others that might be worth me looking into. It's likely that I will not be able to try any of these in stores

[QUESTION] Looking for Living Room Amp

 I had this plugged into an Orange 1x12 and the sound is OK at best. Even through the 1x12 it was boxy sounding. The volume is impressive, but the tone isn’t quite there. Cleans are clean, but uninspiring

This is why I really like the orange tiny terror series. Cranked is 7/15 watts and its still super loud but not so much you need an attenuator. I never had such a good tone with a band as I did with my terror.

I see lots of posts on here about bedroom volume, modelers, not disturbing the neighbors/family, and I get it.   I've been spending the pandemic in the basement recording late at night, and I need to be quiet too (I've been using Neural DSP's Archetype stuff, and it sounds great!  Check 'em out).  You gotta do what works for you so you can play.  No Judgement.

But the other day no-one was home and I had the chance to crank up my Hot Rod Deluxe.  I hadn't done it for months.  Oh, man.   Just the feel of power under your fingers, bathed in sound, pants flapping, no shit fuck all rock and roll is the best.

Now I'm not saying you have to buy a 100 watt HiWatt.   Practical concerns are a thing.   But when you get a chance, take it.   There's nothing like it.

[DISCUSSION] You Need to Play a Cranked Tube Amp

First off i must say im highly impressed with this amp. not only does it have a great tone but its louder than a pack of rabid wolves. With that being said this amp is highly recommendable to anyone wanting an inexpensive amp on a budget, new guitarist wanting an orange (because they are cool) or an older guitarist not gigging any longer wanting a good sounding amp that the wife wont complain about price.  Size and Initial impression

 But these three knobs do their job well.  My guitars: Schecter diamond series (2002) C1+ With EMG 81 and 85, Schecter diamond series Omen 6 w/ Duncan JB and 59, Fender American Telecaster (stock).  Over all this is a great amp for the value. It sounds good and is perfect for practice and recording, As well as small gigs

 Think Priest, thin lizzy, ac/dc, pearl Jam.  Band/ live: Yes you can use this amp with a band or live. but it will need to be miced. it should be able to handle a budding garage band as long as they are using at least a 2x12

So this is were the power section lacks and one of the reasons i gave it 4 stars
