I know you can’t get rid of pores but I’m wondering is there anyway to make them smaller? I use La Roche Posay products. They keep my acne mostly at bay but I feel like my pores are just so large. Part of it is genetic, but just wondering if there’s anything else I can do at home to help. Thanks!

Hey /r/bicycletouring! I've installed a rear rack on my roadbike, and I'm planning to get panniers for commuting in rainy Berlin. 

I plan on doing daytrips and work myself up to actually tour at some point, and I'm considering going for a bikepacking-esque setup similar to [this](https://www.bike-components.de/cache/Trail-Patina-Egal-welcher-Untergrund-der-Gravel-Pa-7060a76e017d510deb90f62560e0d208.jpeg) in the future. 

Does anyone have experience with commuting with the smaller [Ortlieb Front-Panniers](https://www.ortlieb.com/de_en/gravel-pack+F9982) like the Gravel Pack? Are the 25l sufficient for grocery shopping in your experience? Is it a hassle carrying two bags around when not on the bike?

I'm torn on whether getting the bigger [Ortlieb Back Roller Classics](https://www.ortlieb.com/de_en/back-roller-classic+F5301)  would be a better idea, as they'd carry everything I could ever need for day-to-multi-day trips without having to buy more gear, although I see myself just using one of them for my commuting needs and the other one just sitting at home, which seems like a waste.

<p>Avid hiker wanting to go bike touring.
I have a lot of gear already and a bike with a rack (rear).
Have done quite some research on how to gear up my bike and have narrowed it down to:</p>

<p>Option 1: Just buy ortlieb panniers because everyone does. Pay premium price for a premium product even tho i don’t need the waterproofness since i use drybags anyways.</p>

<p>Option 2: Since I already own many dry bags (big river s2s mostly) i am looking at a canvas made, breathable non waterproof rear bikebag system with a small drain hole bottom for rain. This is much cheaper, but i don’t know what is a good option and strong enough. I will fill these with my dry bags so i don’t need waterproofness.</p>

<p>Option 3 : Maybe there are better solutions? Racks or harnasses for my drybags etc?</p>

I've been ridiculously happy with the rolldown Ortlieb panniers I bought when I was pregnant with my now 25 year old child. I've used them to carry heavy books and papers back and forth to my university job in all temps and weathers, as well as for solo and group touring. They are waterproof, and without internal structure, so I can put a whole sack of groceries in there, or back touring supplies in Ziplocks along with a long portable tire pump, no problem. I want the nearest thing or an upgrade. I spent 200 dollars on them in 1995 and they were worth every penny, so I'm willing to shell out for a similar experience. Would appreciate info from folks who have purchased more recently. Am inclined to stick with Ortlieb but could be persuaded to try another brand.

Replacing my 25-year-old Ortleib Panniers

Nice bags, but does not live up to the reputation.

Does anyone use Panniers for commuting? Most pictures of bikes posted here don’t seem to have any storage and why do I never see kick stands?

 When it was on the bike it stayed on the bike, and when it was off the bike it sat steadily on the ground without tipping over. 

The design drives me crazy every single time I take the panniers off the bike, because they do not stand up on their own. They always flop over- on the sidewalk, in the house, at the grocery, at the garden, you name it, if they're off the bike, they've flopped over on their sides. Then if you try to carry them, into the store, into work, into the house, they are impossible to carry balanced and at your side. The handle to carry is not on top, and there are not two handles like a shopping bag, but there is one handle on one side of the pannier, so the whole bag tips awkwardly and bangs into your legs if you try to carry these at your sides

In summary, I can't recommend these if you ever plan to take your panniers off of your bike to carry them or set them down.
