ENVY- Paco Rabanne Invictus. This to me is so bad. It’s trying hard to be a club banger like the top sellers of its time like 1 Million, Ultra Male, and Eros but it just falls short. In terms of just being a sweet scent, it smells so bland compared to the offerings of Mugler which also released some great releases at or near the time Invictus hit the market

With that in mind, as I read the latest &quot;Best in Show&quot; article on Fragrantica called The Se7en Sins in Perfume, I thought that this might be a fun exercise for our community to do as well. Why let a rather small group of people define the list, when our large community could do a much better job? :) 

Now the purpose here is not to create anger by any means. The list will be subjective at best and more likely opinionated. People should not feel pressured to leave anything out and should be able to post their opion, so please keep it civil. No, the goal I had in mind, was for us to share our thoughts about these, the more deadlier of sins in relation to fragrance. Which fragrances represents each emotion, and ideally why. There is no right or wrong approach. Want to be romantic about it? Go ahead. An opinionated pragmatist like me? Be my guest! An essay on how the fragrances spiritually enhances your perceptions? all the better.

If there is interest, I can compile the data posted in the reply section along with mine and create the ultimate seven deadly sins fragrance list for <a href="/r/fragrance">r/fragrance</a>. Let me know in your reply if you would like to see the most commonly suggested for each category. Might even sprinkle it with the funniest most interesting reasons as well.

Aventus is first and foremost a status symbol. A definition of money, power and influence. Those who have it are looked upon in envy by those who dont, and those who doesnt have it, are striving to achieve ownership. All of this over what is essentially a fruity, previously smoky fougere, that really doesnt present much new in this field of fragrance. It is thoroughly average. I own it I´m allowed :)

Just as with Aventus and pride, Envy, seems prevalent among users of this similarly scented fougere. The fact that discussions for and against the citrus opening vs pineaple still remains to this day (It´s been 5 years!), baffles me. I own both Aventus and CDNIM. Neither is a standout, Opening in Aventus is better but short lived. Heart and dry down is superior in CDNIM unless you are a sucker for the Creed Amber DNA, in which case Creed offers other fragrances with a more prolific DNA structure than Aventus. Anyway in my case, Pride and Envy are linked. I hope to see better suggestions than mine.

Sloth: 

Dior Sauvage

It is just too easy. Makes you smell like literally everything else, the subway, the taxi, your brother in law, that new business associate, the plumber, sweaty gym guy and Sam down at the local convenience store. This could really be any top ten in Sephora/Douglas, but Sauvage is the most commonly brought up. Considering the plethora, of fragrances available today, it is beyond me why people choose based on herd mentality.

Wrath:

Hugo Boss - Boss Spirit. Discontinued

Oh how I love this fragrance. I have been wearing it since my teens. My wrath is not linked to the fragrance but the fact that it was discontinued. I know that at the time, they didn´t have the necessary alternatives to continue with a reformulation and I suppose that, by the time they did, the times had changed and the longing for powerhouse fougeres was vaining. But it makes me MAD!

This Category is the one that I struggled with the most. I am not sure Fragrance can cause this type of emotion in me. Note pyramids on the other hand, definitely does with their simplicity and insanely named ingredients list, but thats a different story. Discontinuation, instead of reformulation (again I know, not always possible) is another thing that makes my wrath boil over.

Lust: 

Dolce&amp;Gabbana Light Blue

Now this one is highly subjective and obvisouly based on my own encounters with this fragrance, or more pertinent, the people wearing it. To me, there is a magical sensation that occurs, when this fragrance, is paired with summer, slightly sweaty skin, a light dress, a smile and a sparkling drink in hand. At that moment, the combination triggers some rather strong emotions, best kept simplified to Lust. To this day, I still think about the fragrance almost daily. Not so much those who wore it at the time, but the fragrance itself. I have deliberately not bought a bottle for myself.

Greed is Niche in a nutshell. Don´t get me wrong, I have spent obscene amounts on fragrances in my collection and has accepted the costs of my hobby, but there are limits, and Roja is a prime example of creating exclusivity based on price and not on quality. If quality was on par, RD would be considered the best of the best by everyone. Creed can be said to do this as well with their made up background stories.

Gluttony: 

Gallagher Wicked Good

Hands down the most realistic chocolate note, I have come across in fragrance. It is an astonishing achievement. It literally smells like food. I would never wear it. Sweet gourmands, have never been my thing. That being said, as soon as I read the word gluttony, Wicked Good came to mind, so it has obviously left an impression on me.

The Seven Deadly Sins of Perfume

 However the scent goes on strong but seems to fade out. I checked out the ID number and it was made in 2018 but alcohol Cologne is good up to 5 years. Maybe it doesn't last on my body for long. I sprayed it on my clothes and the scent remained strong all night

 This one still needs a bit more work and it could depend on the weather, the day, that sort of thing but if 7 to 8 is what I'm getting it could probably go a bit longer as well. Great performance out of it though at that point and honestly scent, quality, everything about it is really good. This stuff is a top notch Flanker, I really like it. What is the worst compliment you have received on your perfume?

This item doesn't appear to quite have the "wow" factor when compared to Invictus products I've bought at the mall. It smells good, but the aroma dissipates quickly. Its acceptable for now.

I never got any fakes from FragranceNet or FragranceX. Those 2 are legit every time. Some sellers on ebay are shady.

I'm not really sure if it's actually counterfiet or if Ebay is messing up? I ordered cologne off the website a few months ago. Used it four times total, but just have ones I like more. Listed it on ebay only for the post to be removed for violating their counterfiet policy.

Talked to someone in customer service chat and they said there are "minute details that show it's counterfiet." Should I post again with the serial number thing on the button of the bottle? Not sure what to do.

Ordered cologne off fragrance net. Ebay is saying the item is not real

The scent of Invictus is incredible, at least until it goes bad. From my experience, Invictus is probably the most climate sensitive cologne I've ever purchased. My first bottle went bad after a few weeks, and after amazon quickly took care of it and sent another, the second bottle was bad by the time I took it out of the package. This is definitely a great product overall, but too sensitive for me to continue using

What’s a fragrance that you’ve given multiple chances, but it still sucked?

 Its not too strong but it does have a presence that seems great at catching the positive attention of others. Its a light earth tone scent with high lights of oak and pepper. Would recommend for meetings or going out to dinner.
