Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ1000

A 1"-sensor superzoom bridge, like a Sony RX10 or Panasonic FZ1000 series might be useful if you're traveling into the wildernesses for wildlife in the daytime shooting. And an Olympus/Panasonic micro four-thirds mirrorless system is possibly the most compact of the "big gun" cameras, but the compactness comes from the smaller 4/3"-format sensor size (2x crop) which has less image quality than APS-C (1.5x crop); so you are reducing image quality to get a smaller system. But travel also makes portability, convenience, and low cost more important in camera choices.

The camera is missing some functionnalities that i'd love to have, and the unfortunately silent videos sometimes appear very grainy. [This video turned out alright](https://youtu.be/vMlDrndbv8o) but for some reason [these ones](https://youtu.be/Zz6mB_dYHuk) turned out very grainy, and my brain is too small to understand how to fix the issue. I'm beginning to think that it's just due to the terrible lighting of some competition platforms, which is out of my control. Anyway, i was thinking of upgrading to a [Panasonic LUMIX but i don't want to make any rash decisions.

As already said here, the disappointment is pre-programmed. The problem is always behind the camera and money does not make good pictures. I was in the same situation as you. I bought a bridge camera, first a Panasonic Lumix FZ 300 and then a FZ1000.

If you are shooting outdoors, I can recommend the best bridge camera with, for bridge, a large 1" sensor, the Panasonic FZ1000. Used already for 400€. 400mm zoom and the small sensor make great pictures. The autofocus follows quickly, the image fog in series max 30 frames/s in 4K photo mode - what more could you want...

There's weather sealing on Olympus and Pentax that would probably come in handy, but there again, the lenses need to be sealed as well as the bodies. The Nikon D500 is a great wildlife camera, but mostly for its autofocus features, not so much in terms of drop-off-a-cliff-ability. If your budget is lower, you may want to consider a superzoom bridge camera instead, where the lens is fixed. Something like a Panasonic FZ1000 series, Sony RX10 series or Canon G3 X series.
