Polk Audio – Learn More About HTS Subwoofers

 Upon reassembling the unit of course I discovered that a couple of screws were stripped - wonderful. Anyway the stripped screws were on opposite sides so not worth my time to try to get a resolution from Polk. The unit sounds very good and is a good value, but given the poor customer service and product reliability I can't recommend it.

 Ah, oh yeah, both sides to know you can figure that out where its suppose - and it goes on really neat. That'S really neat. Okay, let me show you the side of the wood. It'S like a nice greatest touch, color, pretty solid, it's pretty heavy! I do that's neat and there's the port, so you got four in the front for it

 I sat on my couch in complete quiet and be prepared myself to repackage this thing and send it back. While getting the wrappers together, I found the instructions and decided to give it a read. Now the instructions are only one page, but they are written in various languages so it has a book feel to it. I read through the instructions, even laugh a little when I seen that it said that I should use country music to test the sound in the sub, everybody knows rap is the best test case as rap has all lows in most of it's music, but I digress

 The Polk HTS also uses the technology that makes it amplify at low frequencies about 4 to 6 feet in front the sub. This makes your center living room the target area of amplification of the supposed .2 hz frequencies that the Polk HTS offers. Also, though the Polk HTS sub does not have a powerful bass line sound, it does shape how the bass sound

 Now the instructions are only one page, but they are written in various languages so it has a book feel to it.  This is especially true when paired with the Polk 505s (which is absurdly expensive now days) and I have 2 of them. The 505s are place behind my TV and the other is next to my couch. And yes, you get those .2 frequency lows and when tweaking the frequency nobs, they sound great

 So if you have a smaller room, maybe go with one of these or maybe go with two of these might sound better. It'S all going to depend on your personal preference hope you guys found this video, helpful and informational, and thanks for watching 

 You know for another 125 bucks. I think you can get a much better sub now, if you're at the 325 range, which is where i think this sub should be priced at uh you're, going to be extremely happy with it. Now you should be unable to tell between the demos that the hts 10 has much tighter and deeper base now, depending how big your room is, may depend on. If you want one or two of these subs

99 you're better off saving a little bit of money, uh going with maybe an sbs 1000.. You know for another 125 bucks. I think you can get a much better sub now, if you're at the 325 range, which is where i think this sub should be priced at uh you're, going to be extremely happy with it

, with free shipping, this psw-10, you cannot beat this sub for that price. They usually run around 119 129 you're still going to be happy if you pay that price for it it's a great little sub. But if it's you know north of 140, 150 there's better subs out there in the just under 200 range, the hts 10. If you can pick them up for 315, like i did you're going to be extremely happy with it now i've seen these at 3

Polk Audio HTS 10 Compared To PSW 10  Demo and Review

. so think about that before you buy. Probably the biggest reason I opted for this model sub was to match it to the rest of my Polk Signature speakers that are set up in my family room. First of all, the HTS-12 is pretty big (like almost end table big) so make sure that you have the room space to fit it in

 For the money, I think it delivers impressive, smooth, and effortless bass without becoming either muddy, boomy, or distorted - when properly set up. Acoustically, I do think that this sub favors home theater setup versus pure HiFi Stereo music which is probably true of all ported subs versus sealed subs. Nevertheless, the response is tight, accurate, and clear enough for me to easily recommend purchasing this sub. However, I do not think that I would have paid the MSRP price of $500 for the HTS-12

.. which is kind of average for this price point, but just a little disappointing. I do appreciate that this sub has designated LFE input and bypass settings for easy receiver control

 Nevertheless, the response is tight, accurate, and clear enough for me to easily recommend purchasing this sub. However, I do not think that I would have paid the MSRP price of $500 for the HTS-12. All things audio have a rapid and then flat curve of diminishing returns, meaning that once you break out of the low-end price range, every additional dollar spent won't get you the same level of bang for your buck. One of the reasons I purchased this exact sub was to match my other Polk Signature Series speakers in both appearance and sound

For $350 it is a steal. For $500 you can do better

 So when you have like explosions in movies, it's probably going to shake and kind of boom a little bit more in the room. The reason i purchased these two, the hds 10s, because i wanted something that is a little bit tighter bass. As far as when you play music, so i think this one's going to be a little better for movies and music. I'M gon na go get these hts tens hooked up in my movie room, listen to a couple movies, some music and i'll be doing a review

 That comes out much easier. If you lay it on its side and slide it out, it does come shipped with two deci packs to keep any moisture off of your speaker. You simply remove this plastic packaging, revealing your brand new sub for size comparison. The hts 10 is slightly bigger about an inch and a half all the way around compared to the psw10 weight

 You guys can see what it looks like this one here is still in the box and i'll get this unboxed kind of show you what it looks like we'll go over. Some specs and i'm going to replacing the polk audio psw 10 subwoofers i'll, show you in comparison of size of those as well. I'M going to be doing a couple videos later on down the road after i use these for a while i'll, compare them to the psw tens and we'll get this one here, unboxed using the black walnut finish. The pair was six hundred and twenty four dollars

 You simply remove this plastic packaging, revealing your brand new sub for size comparison. The hts 10 is slightly bigger about an inch and a half all the way around compared to the psw10 weight. Wise you're about 37 pounds for the hts 10. you're about 27 28 pounds for the psw and looking at the back of the two subs you'll notice that the ac wire, just disconnected from the hts 10, where the ac wire is built into the psw-10

 So, I would have to wait two weeks for the replacement. Can you at least priority mail it once it's ready, I asked? No, they said.  So here I am waiting two weeks - all during the holidays mind you, when I'd love to be watching movies and listening to music and in general enjoying this expensive subwoofer. But does the part come? Nope

 And it's definitely making me rethink Polk audio in general, even after all these years.

 But after 10 minutes of holding, she tells me she can't get her supervisor and will have to call me back. But do I get a call back. Nope.  It's really crazy

Think twice! Subwoofer broke down after 3 months

 The sub often will stop working all together and goes into what seems to be "protect" mode so we have to unplug it for a minute and plug it back in. Always fun to pause a movie in the middle of an action scene because the bass goes out completely.

 We are ONLY disappointed in this sub. Especially since a Sony with 25% of the power easily outperforms this. And it's literally 1/3 the size. Really regret this purchase unfortunately

 The Sony could handle movies much better than this Polk. I don't know what's wrong with it, but this sub clips horribly on scenes where there's a lot of bass such as a meteor impact or explosion. It'll pop loudly and just sound aweful. I'm familiar with clipping and this is doing that

I've had this subwoofer now since 2019 and wish I had tried to return it or did something about it two years ago. This 400 watt sub replaced a Sony 75 watt that was only 8". The Sony could handle movies much better than this Polk. I don't know what's wrong with it, but this sub clips horribly on scenes where there's a lot of bass such as a meteor impact or explosion
