We are really impressed at how quickly this facial toner worked, softening the skin immediately after application. It made our skin silky smooth and balanced tone and moisture so well that we didn't feel the need to apply morning moisturizer when using it. In our testing, we observed that redness went down significantly with Pyunkang Yul, and even stayed minimized for a few days after we stopped using it. We had zero oiliness or dryness issues with this toner, indicating that it would be a good choice for just about any skin type.  
We were a little skeptical about testing the Pyunkang Yul facial toner upon opening the bottle. Despite being marketed as fragrance-free, this Korean product has a distinctive herbal scent &#40;from our quick perusal of the ingredient list, the scent is probably due to its plant root extract base&#41;. But it's so effective, and you need so little of the toner to do the job, that the smell likely won't be an issue. Like Klairs, the other K-beauty toner we tested, Pyunkang Yul contains no essential oils, which can irritate some people's skin. Also like Klairs, it is more of a viscous gel-like solution, so it's necessary to shake or squeeze the toner out of the bottle—but that slight inconvenience is offset by the fact that only a couple of drops are needed to cover the entire face and neck. We could see the smell being a turn-off for some, but overall we recommend Pyunkang Yul facial toner for anyone looking to minimize pores, even out their skin tone, and balance moisture.

I like this! This has a strong herbally smell, don’t let that scare you away though because it’s actually quite pleasant – sort of like a spa. I went through a full sized container in the past and this is excellent. I think this is better at removing make up than the Missha and also doesn’t leave a residue. But I prefer the Missha one because of the pump and ease of the use, and I think it’s more economical too

Here’s my most recent Jolse order! I have a pretty set routine and products that I stick to because I live in constant fear of breakouts (LOL), which is why you’ll see so many repurchases. If I purchase new products, I only use 1 at a time to make sure it agrees with my skin and won’t start anything new for at least a few weeks.

 The formula is light, emulsifies easily, and doesn’t leave a residue after washing off (I’m looking at you Inkey list…)

Not from Jolse, I picked this one up at Sephora. This is just an ok product for me. It’s a thick gel formula that sets on your skin in about 10 minutes. It does feel like a layer of product which is why its supposed to be used as a sleeping mask, but it’s in no way greasy or uncomfortable

I've bought this wonderful essence toner before. I use it as a first step after washing my face and it leaves is soft and there isn't any sticky feeling when it dries down. However, the two boxes I bought this time appeared to have packaging on the out box and on the bottle that were different from my previous purchases. I was particularly suspicious that the bottle didn't have the bar code, freshness symbol, and expiration date

I suspect this might be fake.

So what I love for bad days is The Face Shop Herb Day Lip and Eye Remover Tissues (wipes, I just use for my whole face because it's gentle and easy to feel clean without a lot of scrubbing), Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner, and Manyo Bifida Complex Ampoule. I'll follow-up with a moisturizer and lip balm if I feel up to it. I'll just grab what I need and bring them to the couch and go through the mini-routine while watching tv wrapped up in a blanket.

<p>I suffer from chronic migraines and this (paired with my prescribed medication) tends to make my body flush and run hot. When I&#39;m feeling crummy, here are a couple products and rituals I use to soothe the pain:   </p>

I tend to reach for products that have a cooling, mentholated effect when I&#39;m feeling crummy and this one really helps. There&#39;s something really lovely about lukewarm water on my scalp and then feeling this cooling, tingly sensation on my pounding head. I&#39;ve purchased this through Jolse and SokoGlam. </li>
<li>If I&#39;m in bed, I keep my jade roller in a bowl of ice on my bedside table. This keeps it really cold and feels heavenly on my forehead/face. </li>
<li>Similarly, I&#39;ll use my gut sha tool on my neck and shoulders if I&#39;m experiencing tightness here that could trigger a headache. </li>
<li>Refrigerated toner and sheet masks are also incredibly soothing and relaxing for me. Sometimes though, I won&#39;t want to even mess with a sheet mask, so I&#39;ll use a sleeping pack in a soothing scent to try and help me relax. I love the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask for this. I will note that depending on the severity of my migraine, sometimes using scented products can make things worse, so in that case, I&#39;ll use unscented products instead. The CosRX sleeping masks (both Honey and Rice) are great for this. </li>
<li>Post Migraine body aches: Yumeguri Hot Spring Bath Powders. I&#39;m obsessed with these. They come in several scents that come in the box, but I think the scent fades rather quickly. Taking a bath after I&#39;m starting to feel better is a great way to come back into my body and pamper myself after I&#39;ve been feeling bad. </li>
</ul>

Beauty Routines and Rituals For When You're Sick

When I first bought this, it arrived with the safety seal wide open so I quickly returned it and the company was really nice about the return. Since then I have enjoyed this product but I can't say that I love it. It has a very gentle formula that does not dry down tight or tacky and it hasn't made me break out but I can't say that I am receiving any benefits from it.  The consistency is a little thicker so I usually save some products by applying with my fingers instead of a cotton pad

 I could layer this 100 times lol. It's helping reduce breakouts as well. 4/5 (don't want to get too optimistic because it has tocopherol)

Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner - Felt nice going onto my skin, but while patting it on, my face felt squeaky. This really dried me out. Huang Qi is an astringent, according to some research I did. It works well for so many people but not for me

Illiyoon Ato Soothing Gel - Like splashing water on my face, truly soothing and quick absorption so it makes an awesome first layer of moisturizer. Unfortunately definitely not enough on its own so I don't really reap any benefits from it other than being a nice first moisturizer. Also a little greasy and tacky looking on my skin so I use it PM. 3

 After researching the Pyunkang Yul products (there are two "lines" they company has, one for combination/oily and one the more dry/normal skin), I definitely see how their products are meant to be used in conjunction, not just alone, to maximize the results :)

 However, if your skin is on the dryer side, I would suggest using at least a moisturizer following your layers)  - One added little bonus I saw after cleansing/washing my face at night is that using this toner brightened my complexion a bit. I've watched how this is for a week and I would have to say that over time this Essence Toner will help to brighten your complexion. This does not mean it will significantly and immediately brighten your skin, like I said, it is subtle but is definitely noticeable if used for longer than a week  [ CONS ] - None really. The only thing is, based on each person's skin type, using this alone for the 7 skin method will most likely not be moisturizing enough

I decided to give the Essence Toner a shot as I've heard only positive things about the toner. I have dry to normal skin for reference, and if followed up by a moisturizing essence, serum and moisturizer, the Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner is a great toner. This is a good product if you're looking for some hydration. I will say, I've seen a lot of reviews saying that it gives the skin a bouncy look and feel and makes the skin glowy and glass skin-like, but that wasn't really the case for me. If anything, the product dries down pretty matte with kind of a skin like finish. I have normal to dry and very acne prone sensitive skin, so it doesn't really deliver a dramatic level of moisture for my skin, but I think this would be amazing for oily-combo skin since it's so lightweight
