1) Commute is a total of 18 miles; I'm hoping to commute in most weather conditions save heavy downpours or blizzards;

2) I'm 5"10 and 145 pounds;

3) I'm not bike savvy. I usually ride a single-speed (non e-bike); can average \~15 mph for an 18 mile commute; however, wanting an e-bike so I don't arrive at work all sweaty and to save my wrists (given prior repetitive strain injury); 

4) The commute is semi-hilly;

5) Budget of $1000-2500;

6) Not interested in getting an e-bike for exercise per se; in fact, interested in getting one to save energy so I can do other forms of exercise.

QUESTIONS 

1) Thoughts on getting a fat tire bike for an 18 mile commute (total), e.g. the [RadRover Step-Thru 1](https://www.radpowerbikes.com/collections/electric-bikes/products/radrover-step-thru-electric-fat-tire-bike)? I've heard differing opinions, e.g. "They're great especially if you plan to bike in rain/snow" vs. "Are you crazy for wanting to use a fat tire bike to commute?"

 It's so smooth, the suspension is great, it feels like what you always hoped like a really souped-up bike would feel like. just so much fun to ride. The range is absolutely nuts, but more importantly, it gives you that e-bike experience in a portable form factor at a price that's super reasonable. again, around fifteen hundred dollars

 E-bikes in and of themselves maybe aren't all that portable. They're kind of heavy and big, but this one actually folds and has some really cool things. We'll go over in this review so that's worth checking out. But also, this thing is at a great price

 The range is absolutely nuts, but more importantly, it gives you that e-bike experience in a portable form factor at a price that's super reasonable. again, around fifteen hundred dollars. Now it comes from the folks at Rad Power Bikes, which just have a great reputation. The customer service is great

 The range is nuts and really the power is a big deal. If you want to get in a bike and go explore a city or some back roads that sort of thing and not just be drenched in sweat or be exhausted at the end of it, an E-bike is an excellent option. So I've been looking at E-bikes for a while now and checking out all different price ranges and different sizes and everything. But what I kept coming back to was actually this Rad Mini model and that's for a few reasons

I’m 5’2 so I’m just a bit short for most bikes. I’m shopping for my first e-bike for light work commuting, but mostly for navigating around the DC/Arlington area. While I think I would be fine with a regular bike, I think I’d find an e-bike more fun and to assist with the occasional hills in the area. I’d like to keep my bike purchase under $2k.

I’m leaning towards a class 1 e-bike since I still want to do some work, but want a boost to riding. I also want something zippy so I can ride quickly.

I’m currently torn between the radmission, propella, Aventon pace 500 (Could I still get a work out with a class 3 bike?), or the Rei Cty e2.1. The REI would be a splurge and seems to be comparable to the Radmission and Propella.

Any advice would be appreciated!

I have a Rad city for two years now and for me it’s perfect with a good entry price , I may consider the Rad Mini as second bike  because it folds up and could put it in the car for weekends away etc

I have a juiced ccs. Loved it, but I'm now looking for a replacement. Tempted to try the newer ccs from juiced, but it's quite heavy!

Is there something I'm missing here? The Sinch is $100 more, has no fenders, no front or back lights, doesn't have a try it before you buy it policy, doesn't have Rad's awesome customer support.

The one thing it does have is it hides the battery and looks cool AF IMO.  I guess my question does it have better components than the Rad Mini 4 or something? In my eyes the Rad Mini 4 looks like the best value of the two, it comes with more, and costs less and you can return it if it doesn't suit your needs within 2 weeks.  

Just looking for some opinions here.  The worst part about the Sinch was you weren't able to use the throttle under 6mph at one point but that's been patched so I'm just wondering if it's worth the trade off to just have a cooler looking bike.

Aventon Sinch vs Rad Mini 4

I got 2 1/2 bikes I would call my commuters. 
First one is an old Holland-Bike that I keep at the train station near my work. The second one is a city/touring bike I use to get to the train or to shopping with. 
The third is a road bike I use to get to work if I don’t take the train and on the weekends for trips. 

My other two are a mtb for fun and a trash bike I take parts from to repair mine or the ones of friends. 
So in total i got 4 functional ones :)
