and the fact that that is really my only thing about this bike that I would change says a lot about the way they've thought this bike out.

The motor handles the smaller elevation changes well, but even on the highest power settings, the bike slows down significantly climbing steeper hills, which should be expected at this power level. With electric assist turned off or on the lowest setting, climbing hills is difficult and I can definitely feel the weight of the bike. The assist only goes to 20 mph and I rarely seem to hit top gear in my rides, so I am considering swapping to a smaller chainring for better hill climbing.

RadRover 6 Plus, but this seems way too big and heavy. -RadRunner Plus, also seems too heavy and maybe not as nimble as I want.

Having the ability to pedal if your battery dies is always comforting. If you are on a budget, the RadRover 6 Plus just launched. I've seen studded tires on the RadRover. Their perfectly suited for winter use as well.

I started with a RadRover 6+ but now have an Ariel Rider Kepler on order. The Rad was my first fat tire bike and I love it for commuting to work, but I want to get there faster and be safer on the stretches of road without a bike lane that I ride.

I commute about 19 miles each way to work once in a while, takes me about 50 minutes or so on my RadRover 6+. I'm 6'0" and 220lbs. I get to work with half a battery using mostly PAS 3-5 on my commute. I do carry a spare battery with me in a pannier bag but I find just charging at work is easier and I can keep the spare in case of emergency.
