When I first put on these boots, I was a little worried because there was a lot more volume than I anticipated. The instep is definitely higher than what I am used to seeing in brands like Red Wing, RM Williams, Blundstone, and many UK manufacturers; so my foot was really swimming around in there when I tried them on. However, the length was perfect for me and I knew that I would regret going a half-size down because my toes would rub on the tapered toebox. I ultimately decided to put a thin leather Saphir insole into the boots to make up the volume and they fit perfectly

Weekly Steals &amp; Deals (S&amp;D) Thread 05/16/22

I've been researching the Iron Ranger for months and finally pulled the trigger.  I am disappointed in the quality control.  The upper of the left boot is stitched 1/8'' off center comparable to the right boot.  To be clear, these are not supposed to be factory seconds, but that's what they seem to be

  The difference isn't really visible out of the box, but when I put them on and looked down its obvious they are not symmetrical. I think IRs are still boots I'd like to own, so I've re-ordered and hope the next pair are "paired" better.  Unfortunately, that means time and effort to re-order and exchange, as well as delayed receipt of the product for at least another week (apparently on back-order).  3 stars for poor quality control and the hassle

..I don't really think these fit the bill for heavy work. They definitely will saturate through in wet situations, but may be ok for inside shop work (which I will be occasionally using them for)

Solid boot, generally well constructed, not quite as nice the Beckman model

Buy/Sell/Trade 10/27/21

How do they fit?  The width is perfect, especially in the heel.  They are a bit shorter than I would like, but if I lace them properly to locate my heels in place, my toes don't touch the front and I trust they will become more comfortable as they soften up.  I also prefer dress socks in all my footwear; I only wear thick socks for hiking.

Break-in coming along . . .
