 This is awesome at eleven ounces without empty draw. The before packing anything in it weighs 11 ounces which is awesome for being a super lightweight pack. REI Flash 18 Pack Review: Lightweight Companion

Unlike other reviewers, I find this pack to be in the small side. It's great for quick hikes to hold a small jacket and sandwich, but doesn't hold much more than that. I've been trying to make a crag-bag out of this, but I can't even fit my harness and shoes in here, let alone jacket, food, other gear, etc. 

I'd recommend this for light hiking (like up to half-day trips), but for hiking in weather, moderate gear needs or longer hikes this pack is lacking.

Small pack, comfortable but lack for full day

 We like it as it is light, for the dimensions, for the comfort as it is renforced in the back and for his inside pocket with a zip . The zip pocket is well placed because when you carry your backpack on your back, you can carry your day pack in the front and have easy acces to your keys or money in the zip pocket.

Nice day pack, but made with bad fabrics

I went on a 2 hour ascent over 2,000 feet and the bag stressed out my shoulders. Very weak support, so the bag needs to be very lightly filled, and you need to have to the opportunity to take it off to give your shoulders a rest. It kept falling down to my lower back, even with the shoulder and waist straps on. 

not good for hikes

For the price I paid for the bag definitely was a great bargain however for the functionality I had intended to use it it does pose several personal drawbacks that made me give this product a 3 stars.  The straps does not feel substantially sturdy for the amount of belongings i need to bring on my hikes.  It does however allow me to store many of my belongings including my 3 liter water bag.  I do like that its easily accessible with the pull strap open/closure

 Most backpacks don't have cleaning instructions. However I have to return the backpack because one part of its design does not suit me. The shoulder straps seem to be made so as to fit a person with broader shoulders. Of course when a backpack is filled with items it can fit differently than if it is empty

 The stitching and reinforcements are of good quality work. Of course I have not tried the item on a long term basis but it seems well made. One common problem with backpack shoulder straps is that they are made of material that is not breathable and can make you perspire more on a hot day. Besides that, the shoulder straps can absorb sweat and then themselves develop a bad smell

 The mesh-like shoulder straps are great for ventilation. The material seems rugged enough for the lightweight fabric that it is. The stitching and reinforcements are of good quality work. Of course I have not tried the item on a long term basis but it seems well made

Great Lightweight Backpack for Minimal Items

I've had this pack for years. It's my go-to pack for a quick trip or errand when I need to carry a small number of items. Last week I tried it out for a serious hike: the Grand Canyon, 17 miles from rim to river and back again, down South Kaibob and back via Bright Angel. I had just enough room for a 3L water bladder, small first aid kit, basic survival tools, food for the day, and a layer or two of extra clothing

I was surprised by how perfectly the pack worked for the trip
