For a button-up shirt with a collar, we feel like the REI Sahara is astoundingly well-rounded. It's stylish, comfortable, and quite breathable. It has pockets that are large enough to hold a smaller iPhone and sleeves cut with a scoop to cover the backs of the hands. It also features stretchy underarm panels that make this shirt quite comfortable to wear and provide ventilation while preventing underarm rubbing during paddle sports. This shirt is versatile enough that we feel it's a great choice for a full day on the trail that runs straight into a dinner date with girlfriends.
However, the sleeve tabs are a bit too high to be overly functional. That said, once we discovered that the sleeves also stay rolled pretty well without using the sleeve tabs, we didn't mind so much. Our only other complaint is how easily this shirt wrinkles after living in a suitcase for a few days of travel. All in all, though, we are big fans of this shirt and feel it's more versatile than any other shirt in this review. If you want a shirt for your outdoor activities that can also double for Mondays at the office, the Sahara is an excellent choice.

Boxy but functional

Shirt fabric is a little heavier than I anticipated and the fit seems a bit "boxy."  I had also ordered the Columbia Silver Ridge Lite Shirt which was lighter and fit better.  Am returning the REI shirt and will get another Columbia shirt.

REI shirt is adequate for the price.

 Colors are pretty true to the photos (Rust Marsala is more of a burnt orange--a little less vibrant than the photo, I think). These are the only field shirts I'll buy!

Relaxed Fit, Actual Pockets!

 This new Sahara shirt will clearly not hold up to the years of heavy use that my other Sahara shirts have weathered beautifully, and the cut is ugly enough that I keep the shirt strictly for outdoor recreation. I'm so disappointed and I keep checking the REI website hoping they might bring back the old Sahara shirt style. It's a real shame too, because a lot of the colors I see are so cute. But there's no point in getting a shirt in a cute color if it's going to wear out quickly and hang off my body like a paper bag

Not nearly what it used to be

Why REI, why?  I finally find a warm weather hiking shirt in a decent color (Army Cot Green) that fits and it does not breathe!  I don't want pink or red or lavender or white or any other stand out colors.  I am a nature and wildlife photographer and want to blend into the natural environment that I am working in, not stand out.  So here it finally was -- a decent color.  I wore it hiking yesterday and could not wait to take it off

  I'm 5'5", 145 lbs, and the medium fits well.  I have broader shoulders and appreciate that I can still move my arms.  However, the buttons on this top are TERRIBLE to try to do/undo (they are tiny and sewed on very tightly so they are hard to work with).  I'm not sure if this is just the case on the top I got or if it's across the board

Great fitting lightweight top. The Teal color is fantastic, I got several compliments! So many shirts like this only come in drab colors, so the teal is a nice change from that. I like how the sleeves roll up. I also liked that it wasn't as boxy as most shirts in this style - I have big boobs and this shirt managed to button up just fine while still having some shape at the waist

Super comfortable shirt for travel or camping

I didn't realize how baggy this would be. I am disappointed it is not more tailored. I should have ordered a medium, but then perhaps the sleeves would be too short. Usually when photographers take pictures of models, they put a clothes pin in the back to make products look tighter fitting on the models than they really are
