I have recently bought myself a pair of rossignol holyshreds. As it will be my second skiing season and I enjoyed it a lot the first time, I thought it would be worth it to just buy my own skis. But after talking to my parents friend have gotten second thoughts, as he told me I would be better off just renting skis as I’m pretty new. What are your thoughts?

Second pair of skis for learning switch and easy jumps/tricks. ARV 96/Bent 90/K2 Sight/K2 Poacher/Revolt 95/Holyshread. Pic of my local park added.

 I liked the consistent flex of the Holy Shred. I found it just had a great flex pattern straight from tip to tail, it was really responsive and I could feel every movement the entire ski was making, opposed to what you would feel on say a more rockered, softer tips and tail flex ski. I'd recommend that ski for like an intermediate skier who's looking for something to kind of bring them up to the next level as like a stepping stone before moving up to a big powder ski or something a bit more chargey and directional. It would work really well for someone who's taking some coaching or instruction and is just looking to get to that next level

Coloradan looking for a daily driver all mtn ski to add to my quiver. 

I spend \~50% of my time with little ones (under 4) on groomers, trees, mild bumps, and small park features. Ideally this unicorn skis switch, is fairly damp, and can hold up when I get the oppy to ski hard. Aka I don't want park skis (Blend), I don't want a directional (mantra/enforcer), I don't want wide planks, and I have a dedicated touring set-ups.

I've narrowed down to the Dynastar free 99 and the Bent 100 (thanks Blister). Anything else I should consider (e.g. Camox, Prodigy)? 

FWIW I know there are trade offs and have other skis when the opportunity presents itself. Current Quiver: Nomad 105(pow), MX98 (early season/low tide), BC Corvus Freebird (winter bc), BC  Ova Freebird (spring skimo).

I'm looking to purchase my first Ski. I'm 6'0, 160LBS, I have mainly ski'd hand-me-down ski's including an old 78 width atomic (not sure the model), and K2 pinnacle 88. I wanted to demo a ski that was more stable so over the weekend at Whistler. I ended up demoing a nordica enforcer 100 (179cm). Overall the ski was great, but I did find the ski quite demanding and heavy. I'm looking for something a bit lighter, but has similar properities.

Intermediate Ski for PNW

 At 98 underfoot, you know, you're right in that sweet spot for versatility. Whether you're all-mountain, freeride, freestyle, really just blends them all nicely. We got a full poplar wood core here with Damp Tech, which is basically rubber in the tips and tails, and that reduces vibrations and makes the ski nice and stable and smooth. Very quiet
