It's really one of the best value skis out there and one of the best skis to really help you progress and open up new level of terrain and new type of skiing for you. Rossignol Black Ops Smasher 92 - 170: Easy to carve, fun to skid around. I didn't have to pay attention much while on this ski.

 As with a lot of skis on Ski Essentials, especially the more affordable skis, you can buy it as just ski and binding. Really, really good price. Maybe you already have boots, so that's not a concern whatsoever. You can also buy it with boots and poles

 The benefit in a ski like this is cap construction is exceptionally durable, so you're going to get less chips and kind of nicks to the top sheet than you would on a ski with a vertical sidewall, so pretty cool. Ninety underfoot, nice waist for a ski that's this affordable. I feel like you could go back just a few years and you don't see skis with this price tag on them around 90 underfoot. We also get this nice twin tip and dual rocker shape, so camber underfoot here and then rocker both in the tip and the tail of the ski

 Maybe you already have boots, so that's not a concern whatsoever. You can also buy it with boots and poles. And we really try hard to get the price of that package as low as possible. So if you're shopping and you need everything, you need skis, bindings, boots, and poles, go check out those packages because you're going to save a considerable amount of money when compared to buying all of those products individually

 But anyways, Rossignol does, like I said, a really good job of putting a lot of performance in this ski but keeping the price down impressively low. You also get this integrated Look Express 10 binding on here. Solid binding, again a lot of kind of borrowed or shared technology with much more expensive, super high-end bindings, and you get it in this affordable package. Woodcore in this ski, pretty simple build here

Last year I demoed Rossignol Black Ops Sender and thought they were a step in the right direction, but I'm not sure if they are enough ski for me. Should I get something that is even wider? I regret not demoing wider skis, but I had no idea what to expect moving from my 86mm.

 It's not meant to get up to speed, so at real high speeds you will get some chatter. It is just a nice cruiser for all over the mountain. Someone that wants to advance their skiing, wants to feel a little more comfortable going in the trees, playing in the bumps, should definitely be looking at the Rossignol Black Ops Smasher.

Others on here will have plenty of recommendations, but i would take a look at the Salomon QST line, Nordica Enforcer line, the narrower K2 Mindbenders, Rossignol Black Ops (i think the Smasher is their entry level line) to name a few. All of these will have narrower wastes so they'll be easy to turn but wider shovels so they'll float pretty well on softer snow or off piste.

Me and a few friends are going to do a season in Austria and as I'm entirely new to skiing, I'm looking at a few skiis for the season but I'm unsure whether they have to steep of a learning curve. However I would say I'm fairly easily learned   


Some info - I am 180cm tall (5'10) and 78kg (171Lbs) 19 years old, and the skiis I am currently looking at are the Bent Chetler 85, 90 and 100 (2022/2023). I'm wondering if these are good skiis for a beginner and if so which one is the best. Since I'm going to be there awhile it's inevitable that off piste skiing is going to happen, so keep that in mind.

Beginner looking at skiis

 All on a platform that's going to handle choppy snow, a little bit of light powder, all of that stuff you're going to experience on the all mountain side a little bit better. So for that beginner that's aspiring to be an intermediate, that knows they want to explore more of the mountain, this is a great place to start.

\+ Rossi black ops smasher 160cm - mostly b/c there are ridiculous deals and apparently are fun/easygoing so I could see myself just using these with the kids and buying another pair later. Can't quite tell if these skis are appropriate for my size/weight though (listed as teens' skis some places, adult skis elsewhere).

I spend \~50% of my time with little ones (under 4) on groomers, trees, mild bumps, and small park features. Ideally this unicorn skis switch, is fairly damp, and can hold up when I get the oppy to ski hard. Aka I don't want park skis (Blend), I don't want a directional (mantra/enforcer), I don't want wide planks, and I have a dedicated touring set-ups.

I've narrowed down to the Dynastar free 99 and the Bent 100 (thanks Blister). Anything else I should consider (e.g. Camox, Prodigy)? 

FWIW I know there are trade offs and have other skis when the opportunity presents itself. Current Quiver: Nomad 105(pow), MX98 (early season/low tide), BC Corvus Freebird (winter bc), BC  Ova Freebird (spring skimo).
