I’m moving to Whistler in October to work a season and I’m looking for opinions on possibly getting another pair of skis. I currently have a pair of Atomic Bent Chetler 100s mounted with Look Pivot 14s at the +4 mount. I am 184cm(6”1?) tall, 76KG (168LBs) and I’d say I’m an advanced skier. Does anyone have any ski recommendations for all mountain/off piste/powder skis? I have heard good things about Armada Declivity 92s and K2 Mindbenders but that advice was for NZ skiing conditions. Cheers.

My wife is 5 foot 6, 120 lbs, turns 47 tomorrow. New to skiing and has no desire to do anything other than easy resort skiing to keep up with the kids. Is comfortable skiing Tremblant blues parallel, in time will venture onto blacks but just wants to enjoy herself, tends to be risk averse. Is probably not interested in learning to carve, but it may be too early to say that. We have a seasonal rental this season so will be skiing a lot.

Am looking to get her a new pair of skis as she has just been using some ancient gifted ones (early 2000s twin tip Misfits, which the ski instructor made fun of as teenage girl skis). She loves the Black Crows designs so I'm limiting myself to that, thinking surely one of their skis is suitable. Any suggestions between the Divus Birdie, Vertis Birdie, Captis Birdie, or the Orb Birdie?

I'm thinking the Vertis would be better than the Divus for her, as it would be more stable/accessible, especially in afternoon skiing or when it gets choppy/cruddy. Am wondering about the Captis though, as it would be even more like that, and give a bit more range of snow conditions for following the kids into the glades and so on. But maybe it's too wide and the radius too long for her size and interests.

Any advice appreciated. Thanks!

help me decide between the various Black Crows women's skis pls

I live on the ice coast, I mean east coast, and currently ski on 84 width. Love the skis for carving and ice but looking to add to my collection for days where we get powder or trails are full of crud. Went to local ski shops and asked for recommendations. Was clear I wanted to keep the 84s, and this would be an additional set for the quiver. The recommendations I got ranged from 88-102. I think the 102s might be a tad overboard given we don’t get tons of fresh powder and I’m not off skiing in the trees. But the 88s seem not that far off from what I currently have and I question if they’d feel much different. I’m wondering if the sweet spot would be 90-96 range? Would love some advice from those far more knowledgeable than I am. Thanks in advance.

Talk to me about ski width

 These are one of the best skis on our entire site. For intermediate skiers who love the sport, want one ski to do it all, and aren't spending most of their time on the West Coast. Even if you're taking a few trips up to the West Coast each year, these will do the job. If you're a skier in the West who sticks to groomed terrain and the trees and isn't skiing a ton of powder, doesn't need that float, these are excellent

2023 Salomon QST 92 Ski Review | Curated

 Hey skiers, it's Bob with SkiEssentials.com. Welcome to our 2023 ski test. We got a refreshed Salomon QST 92 for you today

 This is a really well floating 92. We said that about the 98 last year that we were surprised at how well the thing floated for a 98. Same theory for these 92s and then we see a nice playful tail. You know, not a ton of splay

 You know, we saw that with QST 98 last year that the tail specifically for what it was was was pretty nice and forgiving and that has kind of gone through to the tip as well. So longer tip rocker than we've seen before, moderate splay, you know, that's going to help with flotation. This is a really well floating 92. We said that about the 98 last year that we were surprised at how well the thing floated for a 98

 Obviously it's going to get longer again as you size up but nothing, you know, nothing crazy in that turn radius. Widest part right about down here, so leaving this whole tapered section to help with smoothness and initiation in softer snow. But yeah, great overall ski. Any person, any day, any time, this thing is just about as good as it gets in terms of being just, you know, the essence of versatility

2023 Salomon QST 92 - SkiEssentials.com Ski Test

I've been snowboarding all my life but finally made the switch to skiing last year and it was amazing. I should have been skiing the whole time.

I live in Michigan and I go 3-5 nights a week to the ski resorts in Northern MI, so I was able to get my skiing skill up pretty well in my first season.

Last season I was using some 20 year old K2's that were too tall for me, but they got the job done. I'd really like to get some skis that will do me well this time around.

I do a ton of groomers ranging from green to double black (I'm told most of our double blacks are like blacks or blue squares out west though). I did the small terrain park a ton - boxes, jumps, rails, and I did a little bit of the bigger jumps in the medium terrain park. We have a good amount of trees/glades so I'd really like something that can get me around those without me having to force all my energy into doing the sharp turns. This was the biggest drawback to my current skis I feel.

I'm 5'10" (178cm), 170 pounds. I need skis, bindings, and probably newer boots as mine are pretty old, but they fit well. Size 11.5 mens.

My friend has recommended Shaggy's Copper Country Skis, which is a maker local to Northern Michigan, but I'm a bit worried and feel like I should go with a more established brand. I've mostly heard good things about them, but I'm up for any brand.

Newer skier looking for an intermediate ski package

 And that's a good thing especially if you're a bigger skier like me, need a little bit more power out of that ski. This has it all. This one's a 177 and this generates an 18 meter turn radius. So again hitting everything right down the middle

 But overall this ski is just built for it all. You know pretty average taper shape as well. Nice just you know nice clean and round all throughout and Salomon really did a good job when they upgraded this last year sorry. But yeah they got the wood core with the carbon flax in there and the carbon and flax really combined to make this ski stiffer and stronger
