 You get the benefits of metal. You get that smooth feel, maybe not as much dampening as the wider skis, but still pretty good. It gives you that confident, inspiring, smooth feel. But they're a little more adaptable, a little quicker edge to edge, a little easier to control, and they're not as fatiguing either

 They're responsive, they have a performance oriented feel, but they're not too demanding. They aren't as tiring, they're not as fatiguing, as heavier skis, and they also both happen to be really, really fun in the moguls because of their shape, construction, and just overall responsiveness and quickness. Great ski. Very, very versatile all-mountain ski, maybe not the best in soft snow conditions at just 84 underfoot, but the shape will allow you to play around in some softer snow in some variable conditions

 Welcome to our 2022 ski test. Right here we've got the Salomon Stance 84. There's two new Stance skis for the 22 season, this and the narrower Stance 80. And essentially what Salomon did is they took the overall concept of the Stance 90 and 96 and kind of tweaked it into a slightly more affordable and slightly more approachable version and also a little narrower too at 84 underfoot

Helping choosing skis

 It's definitely going to be aimed at your advanced to expert level skier, somebody who wants precision and performance in a stiff ski. It does take some work to get this thing up on edge because it is stiffer but once you are there it is planted, it is glued to the snow, you will not shake this ski. Tremendous edge hold and a nice bit of energy into the next set of edges when you finish that turn. Lower speeds, less aggressive skiers are probably going to struggle with this ski but somebody who likes to ski fast and aggressive, they're going to love it

 But this doesn't lack any of the guts or the grit of the bigger stance skis. This thing is pure power. It's definitely going to be aimed at your advanced to expert level skier, somebody who wants precision and performance in a stiff ski. I'm mainly on groomers, and green/blue in the rockies after a hiatus from skiing for 15ish years.

Help choosing ski

 Excellent option for that strong intermediate to advanced level skier who wants a good wider sized frontside carver. 84mm underfoot the Sink can really power through a lot of the chunks or the crud. It's got Salomon's teat and all construction there so it's nice, it's stiff, it's damp, it's stable. Holds a good edge on ice

We have some pretty hero snow today but there's a couple little piles and crud piles through the snow through the groomers that this thing really powered through. It was just nice and smooth

Ski Size and Brand Recommendation - Atomic/Salomon

 This one has metal underfoot and then carbon in the forebody and through the tail. So it's a blend of having that dampness and stability underfoot with that metal and then the snap and energy and responsiveness of the carbon in the forebody and back here in the tail. Really it's all about blending that confidence and control in a carve turn with the lighter swing weight and more maneuverability of the lighter tips and tails. It's a really good way of building a ski

 This is a 177. It generates a 16 meter arc. It's definitely happy there. It doesn't really love the 25, 26, 30 meter turns, high speed stuff, but in that mid-range it really just is right at home

 And then we get their TIC frame. So in the Stance 90, 96102, they get the full metal treatment with the carbon flax cutouts. This one has metal underfoot and then carbon in the forebody and through the tail. Hi experts!

I know this comes up a lot (and i've tried to read all the posts I can), but I haven't seen too much in the past few months regarding ski recommendations.

I'm 80kg (175 pounds) and about 170cm tall (5"6'?) and definitely an intermediate skiier (i think).

I've recently moved to the east cost of US and will be skiing in Vermont followed by a week in Colorado (Keystone). I've only previously skiied in Australia (can be quite icy/patchy) and am fairly comfortable with blue runs. I had always used super old skis (like 10 years old?) around the 156cm mark and whilst I found them easy to turn, they weren't very good on ice and I always felt fairly unstable if I sped up/went through moguls etc - the run had to be fairly smooth or i'd have to go super slow and exert a LOT of energy to stay slow lol.

I've been looking at lots of reviews/recommendations online and honestly can't seem to make heads or tails as there is so much differing information. Ideally I want an intermediate level ski that is stable, can handle ice/moguls etc and potentially a couple of powder days if they happen in Colorado? I'm not a huge 'off trail' skiier, but I don't know if thats just because my old skis felt so unstable that it terrified me because I felt like i'd just fall over. I'm not fussed on going super fast, i'd rather maintain control/stability and speed up as i'm comfortable.

The ones i've seen recommended are

M6 Mantra - seems to maybe be a bit too heavy/stiff/unforgiving for me? I probably want to turn a bit quicker and these seem more intermediate - expert level

Nordica Enforcer 94 - seems to be quite good all around?

Black Crows Camox - might be too wide and seems to be more aimed at being fast at high speeds? People say it can be a bit stiff, does that mean it's harder to turn? I probably want something easier to turn for when I freak out and want to slow down haha

Salomon QST 92 - seems to be decent for my level, maybe on the smaller side width wise, but I'd probably prefer something more to my level and just rent powder ski's if I need them on a specific day ( I have no idea how many powder days we'd get in Colorado at end of December - if any). 

I'm probably overthinking it, but any input/guidance would be super appreciated!!

Ski recommendations for Intermediate (again - sorry)

 Two layers of metal, just like the other ones in the line. Carbon window, you got a little window so you can see the carbon. So really, really stable on edge thanks to the metal that's eaten off, but tons and tons of liveliness and energy thanks to the carbon. Really, really stable on edge, smooth transitions, lots of power
